American Idol could die without Ryan Seacrest, says Nigel Lythgoe – Video
American IdolNigel Lythgoe told TMZ that it would be very difficult to replace Ryan Seacrest if he leaves American Idol. However, he did add that the show is not beholden to one personality (citing Simon Cowell as an example of course).
If Ryan ever leaves — would that be the end of American Idol? Or is it already dead with him still in it?
My take: American Idol will never die! Long live American Idol!

From TMZ:
Nigel was out in L.A. yesterday when we asked if Seacrest was considered dispensable, much like the judges — and Nigel replied, “Ryan Seacrest drives the entire program. He’s not on an earpiece or anything. He’s not beholden to anybody. He controls the show. He’s really important.”
He added, “It would be very, very difficult to replace Ryan Seacrest.”
