American Idol 8 Top 4 — Results Prediction — 05/06/2009

WOOHOO!!! I was trying so hard to NOT spoil myself until tonight but was pleasantly surprised by my friend. THANK GOD KRIS IS SAVE!!!!!! We all get to see him for another week!!! YEY!!! He gotta outchart both adam n gokey if he wants to fight adam in the finale!!! Go Kris Go!

HOW is Danny overrated, considering people are bashing the crap out of him. Haha, some people are delusional considering we all know TPTB are pimping the crap out of Adam and people think he's some god, where he's totally being set up to win OBVIOUSLY. The others are playing for 2nd (even though finishes mean nothing, ala season 2).

I couldn't agree more Joeysan. This Christian votes for talent, not similar religious beliefs. And if I don't necessarily love a contestant, humility goes a LONG way with me.

I wish certain individuals in this forum would refrain from stereotyping Evangelical Christians. We don't ALL vote rank and file for Danny Gokey just because he's a worship band leader for a megachurch. Some of us do have ears, and what we heard from Danny last night was nothing short of rock 'n roll HERESY!

And, even if Danny's singing wasn't so bad, his character and demeanor are greatly lacking in humility and an others-focus (two non-negotiable evidences of a true believer in Christ).

In fact, the most humble, others-focused contestants appear to be Adam and Kris, who take criticism and praise with equal aplomb, and who are generous with their time and talents, helping other contestants be as good as they can be.

Conversely, while we know little about what goes on behind the scenes, publicly Danny expects praise and eschews criticism, and is not above belittling other contestants to draw attention to himself - all too conspicuous fruits of pride (which most Christians agree is perhaps the worst sin).

So, not only is Danny lacking in vocal talent at a very critical stage of the competition, his personal character does little to draw attention to the Savior. Indeed, to truly be 'salt and light' he would first have to get past an even bigger obstacle than this competition; himself.

No envy, no fear.

Maybe Danny does go home. His fanbase are mostly practicing Christians. How could they with a clear conscious vote for Danny last night. The Christian thing to do would be to not pick up the phone at all.

I just don't understand how Danny even thought he could attempt "Dream On". I think he was trying to show everyone that he can take risks and sing the more complex songs. He just ended up creating one of the more memorable moments in Idol history. People will be going to youtube every time they are in need of a good laugh to watch it.

If the AI Producers want to maintain any shred of integrity and eliminate the worst singer...Danny CROAKY must be eliminated after his Epic Fail last night!!!

I really hope kris doesnt leave us tonight. But I agree with the other comment it could be any of the 3 apart from adam. It's a shame but someone has to go.

I really wish Danny would go in a shocker elim, but sadly, I think Kris is going *cries* I've been preparing myself for his elimination today so I won't be so upset tonight :( :(

Danny is not going home tonight. They will make it look like he had a chance at it, but he will not. I know this because I am smarter than all of you. And after this happens, don't feel like you have to come back and apologize and bow down to my greatness. It is not needed.

I really am praying that Kris doesn't go home. He's like my favorite in the competition. I really want him to win.

I'm so tired of the judges trying to throw people under the bus especially Kris. Danny's solo performance was worse that Kris, but yet the judges give him an A for effort. Honestly I though Kris' was one of the best of the night, and I'm not just saying that because he's my favorite.

I really don't want Kris to go home :(

Bren, I think that is really thoughtful (#68). I entirely agree. It is plausible that anyone (with the exception of Adam, perhaps) will go home tonight. Across the internet, different polls are coming to very different conclusions. It will be interesting!

If there is any justice - Gokey will be going home. I think he is a good singer, but if we are judging from week to week - he should go home.

I just want to see Danny in the bottom two at least. He has been smug the whole season. It will be good for him and maybe humble him a little bit. I doubt he will go home, but I DO think Kris got a raw deal by the judges this week. Danny was clearly the worst by a mile, and you don't get points for effort.

Since Adam scare, they are probably rushing to vote for him, very unlikely for him to go home.
Adam/Allison fans, in rushing to keep Adam safe, are not split voting with Allison, who may be in danger.
Kris got thrown under the bus, and not Danny, whose performance was much worse.
Kris, who was also in bottom two last week, has his fans probably rushing to vote for him, like Adam.
Also, Kris was thrown under the bus by the judges tonight, another phone rush for his fans. Everyone thinks he’s going home. And he could.
Danny had a worse performance than Kris. Everyone thinks he’s safe, like Simon, which is dangerous. Causal voters won’t favor Danny.
All Danny fans are convinced he’s not leaving tonight- not a great sign. All of this is a huge setup for a shock elimination of Danny.
Allison could be held up by her duet with Adam.
Casual voters could vote for her.
Her duet with Adam could go either way- keep her safe, or send her home.
Their duet was better than Kris/Danny (:<) Causal voters could vote for her and Adam.
Though may have liked duet, voters could have thought she was safe (which is dangerous, one never can imply that; history repeats itself, as well) and voted for Adam, who almost went home last week, while she was a top vote getter.

Darline, you obviously don't like Allison for whatever reason, but you cannot deny that she is a brilliant vocalist and has never had a flat-out "bad" performance...ever.

I just want to see Adam and Allison in that Top 3, I've loved them the whole season, but last night? They just killed it, in the greatest possible way.

I still believe this is the best, or the second best Top 4 we've ever had. Whoever leaves, it's gonna be a wild night in the idol world.

Allison sucks...she is not the best! Adam Lambert is the best and he did amazing last night =) Kris and Danny did good and deserve another chance! ALLISON HAS TO GO HOME!!!

Kris needs to go home. His voice simply doesn't compare to the powerhouse vocals of the other three.
Allison is the best.
Danny had an overall good performance, except for that last note.
Adam is unfair since he's already professional.

I got over 500 votes in for Kris but I accept he's the most likely to leave this week.

His solo was more in tune than Gokey's but as Paula, I think, said Kris needs bring more energy.

I didn't like his song choice and really, really wish he'd done something out of the ordinary with it like he did with "She Works Hard For The Money" which seems to have been his Idol creative peak.

I feel bad because the judges savaged him.

Karaoke Danny or Kris.......it should be Danny.

He's boring, unoriginal and hasn't had 1 standout performance. His singing is on par with unsuccessful Taylor Hicks but he lacks charisma.

He needs to keep his day job.

Hey Mesothelioma. Again, I think what you are saying is quite reasonable. But I do think that the one time when people listen to Simon is when he throws someone under the bus. Whenever he says to a contestant (or at least, one with a reasonably large following) "You are in danger", they usually survive another week everyone thinks "Not if I have anything to say about it!" Danny did not get that, which I think is bad for him.

Finally, as you said, "overly optimistic". In fact, the more Danny fans act like there is no way Danny is in danger tonight, the more they reinforce my point. Being in the top two last week my prove to be the worst thing that ever happened to him.

If Adam wins and TPTB try to force him into the tradition 'pop music' box he might tank, but anyone who can sing a Led Zeppelin song (and nail it, btw) could front a heavy metal band.

I also don't think Christian fans mentally go in comparing him to Adam or are voting for him because Adam screams. They like him because of his religious upbringing, his sound, etc...also consider that many will probably give him a pass because everyone thought this would be a gimme for Adam and a tough one for Danny.

I don't think people listen to Simon as much as people think. Didn't he say Allison was in trouble the week she landed in the top 2? Danny fan's aren't complacent--they are overly optimistic (especially last night). He certainly didn't win any casual voters, but I unfortunately think this will be offset by Allison not benefitting from split voters after the Adam scare. Die hard rock fans tuning in were probably gung ho for Adam. Like my husband...they tend to have pretty absolute feelings...so I don't think they would feel sorry for Allison... and throw some votes her way. Slash talked up Adam, and this is what these rock fans were looking for.

UGH. I just looked at the state-by-state voting on Dial Idol. Kris is listed last in about 30 states.

Hey Mesothelioma. I understand what you are saying, but the thing is, the judges game him lukewarm comments, and even suggested he would be safe. This was the worst thing in the world for Danny, because it only added to the complacency. If people don't think you are in real danger, they won't vote like you are in real danger, and that's how we get the Chris Daughtry phenomenon.

Additionally, as I have said, you have got to have the support of the casual viewers. I don't think many of them will say, "Must save Danny" with that scream still in their ears. And if Danny is counting on the Christian / gospel vote, do you think this performance motivated them? Many of them probably vote for Danny because they hate it when Adam screams; they will like it even less on him. I can see many of them saying, "Love ya, Danny, but I have better things to do this week. I didn't like that."

Again, I think all of this adds up to a huge dent in his support, and when you are in a tight top-four competition, that is hard to survive.

maybe FOR ONCE, Dial Idol will be right this year. Allison is listed at the bottom, with Kris above her and Danny No. 2 But all three of those are so close that it says that any one of them could end up in fourth place.

I think the contrary will happen. People knew he was bad...so they made sure to vote like mad to keep him on. Danny voters have never been complacent, and I don't expect them to start now. I think Allison is still in danger...people expect her to benefit from Adam...but I think people stopped split voting...so she is likely going to suffer from that. Kris fans are probably TO'd that he got a bad review, so they are voting like mad banshees.

As the day goes on, I am more and more confident Danny will go home. First of all, everyone agrees that his performance was the worst. Second, I think the fact that so many people are SURE he won't go home is extremely dangerous for him. In a tight race like this, you need people voting for their lives. Danny does not have that this week. The other contestants do.

Look, everyone knows this is a tight race. Who thought that Adam was in ANY DANGER at all going into last week's show. But he was. It is a very tight race. Add to that all the things that went wrong for Danny yesterday, and an overconfident fan base, and you have all the ingredients necessary for a "shock boot". I would be very surprised if it does not happen.

Finally, it took a long time. A performance where haters can actually hate on him and sound like they know what they are talking about. Really, that scream makes me laugh like an uncontrollable mental patient off her meds...no thats, why I scream...uhhh.

The internet is continuously wrong. The circle of sites that you guys jump around to and post the same comments to is completely outside normal perception. Every time I see a poll for Danny he is in the bottom, but he has never been in the bottom three. If you guys want your picks to win you should step outside your safety zones and start recruiting people from the real world or Danny's t here for life.

My prediction: They will pretend Danny is at risk (when in fact he will have more votes than the other three contestants combined) and then dump Kris.

And we'll see which of us has a firmer grasp on reality after tonight's show.

I think TPTB will use that "glory note" to elim Danny and sign him to one of Sony's smaller CCM labels. They don't want to sign him to a major, as he ain't gonna sell there. At a CCM label he could be a major player in that genre.

He's awful, he shrills and shreaks every week, he's a one trick pony, he belongs on Broadway, not on iTunes, he'll tank in the industry (another Fantasia coming our way)... so disappointing.

Who cares if Danny has never been in the bottom 3 so far?! It doesn't change the fact that he screamed loud enough to wake the dead. He tried to hard to be something he isn't at all: a rocker. He's got bravado and arrogance. Who the HELL CLAPS FOR THEMSELVES after such a horrible performance? I used to think his smartass behavior was just a front...but no, the reality is that Danny showed a lot more of his personality when he turned the duet to an unfair duel. He took the duet and selfishly buried Kris under his Karaoke War Cry!

No, abercrombieco2, my statement was not just wishful thinking. I presented arguments for why Danny will be going home. And Danny did not just get "good comments" all night. Sure, he was given an "A+ for effort" (gag!), but he was also told it was like watch Psycho. This is not exactly a "good comment". But in fact, these comments were middle-of-the-road enough to breed some complacency, which is even worse for Danny. As I argued, if Simon said, "That was dreadful. I have a horrible feeling you'll be going home," more people would vote. Simon's comments, however, suggested he was safe no matter what, which puts him in serious danger, as history shows. He needed something to motivate casual viewers, and he did not get it. I agree with the many polls that say Danny is done.

This is ridiculous! Kris was waaaaaay better than Danny. The more the show goes the less I have like danny and his too confident attitude.
Kris's performance was perfect so it is totally obvious what the judges are doing and it's really frustrating! Had Kris screamed and got so off key as danny did last night the judges would have been much tougher on him than giving him an A for effort! What's that about anyway! grrrr Kris definitely deserves to be in the top 3!!!!!!!
