American Idol 11 Top 7 Redux – Song Spoilers

Who’s excited for tonight? The American Idol Top 7 take the stage again to win your votes. The theme is “Now & Then.” The contestants much choose a Billboard No. 1 song from 2000 to today, and the other song must be a soul song from a previous decade.

As usual, Idol has leaked the setlist for tonight.

UPDATE: Thanks to Brittany Keener on Twitter, apparently, the guy who is playing bass for Colton spoiled his song. Colton is singing BAD ROMANCE.

I have no idea about the Then songs. I know Colton's for sure on the now and my biggest hope is that Elise is doing No One, so I hope I'm right on that one. Hollie will continue to be the biggest fail at picking songs by picking a song by the artist everyone has been saying no one should ever cover again. Good lord Josh, Believe really, then again I can see Hollie totally choosing it too as another mistake and Rolling in the Deep being done by Josh and it have a gender switch that'll make it a little more acceptable.

Colton just tweeted about trees so may be he's doing Heard it through the grapevine.

Just going off of what I've seen Elise do in studio, I'm saying she's doing the Usher song. This could prove to be a big breakout for her. "Son of a Preacher Man" is either hers or Skylar--but "September" seems right for her, too.

((if you go to iTunes and look her up, she's done a lot of guest vocals for low-key rappers over a few albums. this is why I think she's doing Usher.))

If any of the women got to the finale, in any order, as long as there were two of them, I'd be very happy. I've seen Hollie and Jessica's "Rolling in the Deep" cover and Hollie wins that one hands down so if she covers that then I'll be okay but I'm almost hoping that she does "Born this Way" and sings the "No matter gay straight or bi-" part so she can go out with a bang and be the first one on live tv to sing it :P Her best friend is Joshua after all and come people....come on.

Hollie did No One for her top 24 qualifying performance last year and didn't make it. I think it would be cool if she sang it tonight, and hope she does.

Colton I guess is doing bad romance? I can't say I didn't expect this, gonna be another falsetto driven creepshow.

Whoever is doing rolling in the deep, I pray for them.

@esqape I pray for EVERYONE who's doing repeats tonight. Tonight is not the night to do that and those people will get pummeled unless they are Jessica Sanchez. I'm with you on this one though, Esqape :] Hollie all the way! Time to work my fingers to the bone and power vote (I've never power voted before :D).

Joshua needs to do Son of a Preacher Man - but he won't :(

All I know is I'm voting for everyone but Plantchez tonight. Holly will get the most votes, followed by Elise, Skylar, and Joshua.

Things im 100% sure of tonight: 1) The judges will give Colton a standing ovation even if it isn't that great of a performance. 2) Jessica will be pimped to death. After, everyone will complain and cry but if you really think about it when was the last time she closed the show? Exactly, its been awhile. While artists like Elise have closed the show twice in three(?) wks(Whole lotta love and You&I)..so back off haters. 3) Tonight is gonna suck. 2 Alicia Keys songs? 2 Lady Gaga songs? Adele?!!? I thought we all were on the same page that Adele wasn't to be sung again. Unless someone has some kind of magical arrangement for one of these songs, its gonna be a long night.

..on a side note I really have no clue who is singing what. So kuddo's for confusion. The only one that jumps out at me is I Believe and A change is gonna come for Joshua but who knows at this point. All week people have said a change is gonna come would be perfect for him, and honestly who else would sing fantasia other than mantasia.

Elise has already said in her interviews that her dream song to sing on the idol stage is "A Change Is Gonna Come" with a full orchestra. I'm betting No One and ACIGC for Elise.

@Sowsyalite I don't think she even knows that Adam did that song. She said it herself that she doesn't watch Idol much. Only people who care if she sings a song that Adam sang back in S8 are either die-hard Glamberts or Elise haters. For me, I don't really care, just as long as she kills it.

Personally, I think Elise will steer clear of Adele and Gaga. She's already done both, and she seems the smart one of the group. LOL

“Rolling in the Deep” by Adele – Elise (only her or Jessica can pull this off?)

“Born This Way” by Lady Gaga - Jessica (Maria Aragon 2.0)

“Fallin’” by Alicia Keys – Skylar (Either her or Hollie will sing this)

It seems only no. 1 hits at the Billboard Hot 100. No country song for Skylar.

@Sowsyalite It's been confirmed that Colton will be doing Bad Romance. I suspect it will either be stripped down or a full on rock version. Hmm.

@jlscott13 hmm... I didn't think of that. But the Fantasia song is more Gospel and suited for him as well as Sam Cooke's song which I predicted before the list came out. He's the only one who can do "A Change is Gonna Come." Interesting to see what happens.
