It’s a bit of a lousy week for cable dramas.
After Tuesday’s news that Lifetime would not being renewing Drop Dead Diva, we follow it up with a similarly unfortunate bit of news for fans of SyFy’s superhuman drama Alphas, as the network has decided not to renew the sophomore series.
Unfortunately, it’s not all that surprising, given the show’s steady decline in the ratings. Last summer’s premiere only drew 1.7 million viewers, a huge drop-off from the previous year’s debut.
“Syfy has decided not to renew Alphas for a third season,” said the network, in a statement. “We’ve been proud to present this entertaining, high-quality series for two seasons and to work with an incredible ensemble of talented actors, producers and creatives as well as our partners at BermanBraun Television. We’d like to thank the show’s dedicated regular viewers for their tremendous support.”
There is no word as of yet whether BermanBraun and Universal Cable will look to find a home for the series with another network.
