Wendy--I so agree with your post. Adam gives the feeling, to me, at least, that he is doing a guest appearance. I wish they would not waste time judging him and give him that time to sing longer! More! More! I rewind my DVR and rewatch each one of his. Even tho I think the others are talented and deserve to be there, I just find that I do not rewatch their performances. Just thinking we will have to wait an extra day this week to hear his Motown rendition is killing me! LOL

I would like an Adam Labert/David Cook sandwich (in my dreams of course). Adam surprised me with his performance of Ring of Fire. I also loved his Black or White performance, too. Ring of Fire is my favorite performance so far. I'm surprised that Simon didn't like it. I thought he was more progressive than that. Maybe it's time for him to retire. I'm 52 years old and I recognized Adam's genius, even though I know he used someone else's cover. He performed it very well, loved the way he hit his notes, too. I'm more impressed now than before with Adam, and hope he gets to win this year. It will depend upon if his fans are willing to vote for him. That's really what it comes down to.

Wow, Adam is upstaging everybody else in iTunes ratings and reviews. He has 5 times more ratings than everybody else and 100+ reviews for RiF. Similarly with his Black or White performance. Even if this kid doesn't win AI, he's definitely still on his way to stardom. He definitely inspires people to talk about him at the very least...of all ages too:

I have listened to this song and watched this video several times a day since Tuesday. I am absolutely in love with it. I haven't been a fan of American Idol since what's his name Soul Patrol won (because, ...seriously?) I've been watching this season because I liked Anoop in auditions but my heart has been stolen by Adam Lambert. I want to have his gaybies. This performance sounded like it was straight off an album, needed absolutely nothing. I was disappointed when I bought the iTunes download of it and it's very different. Oh well. Still love him.

I Freakin' LOVE LOVE LOVE Adam! This was his BEST performance yet! If he came out with an album now I would totaly buy it! Not to mention, where the heck did he get that freakin' awsome jacket???

But as much as I love Adam's creativity and artistic expression and flair for dramatics, I can't wait until he pulls out the ballad. I honestly believe that once he finds the right ballad it will be his "it" moment on idol. Ring of Fire was damn close to his "it" moment, but not yet. With the right ballad, all Adam would have to do is sing flawlessly and beautifully like he always does and have a stripped down power song. It'll be subtle and powerful and heart-wrenching and everyone will die and he will have had his moment. The people who can't stand him will begrudgingly admit at that moment that it was his shining moment.

If he pulls something like this off on Idol, it's over for everyone else.

At first I was like, wtf? It was totally over the top. But after hearing it again, I have to say that I really appreciate his creativity. While someone like Lil was busy trying her best to conform and sound country, Adam took the song and made it conform to him and his personal style. He's a true artist. Another thing I noticed is he used this song as an opportunity to show off his tremendous range and vibrato. I feel Simon has a hard time appreciating anything outside of the cookie cutter, pop music formula.

The performance by Adam Lambert of Ring of Fire was not only horrific as Simon Cowell remarked, it was a downright disgrace. 180 degrees away from country music and pure howling rather than singing. Randy Travis spoke truthfully when he said that Lambert need not look for an invitation to join the Grand Ole Opry. Why he was voted safe is something I just do not understand.

He is the best yet on American Idol and I have watched all the episodes...I am 73.

what I can't stand is the repetitive remarks from people saying Johnny Cash “is rolling over in his grave” from Adam’s performance. If anyone actually knows Johnny Cash’s style and career than they know he was a big fan of alternative rock music style and a big fan of Nine Inch Nails. Heck, he covered “Hurt”! I think if Johnny was still alive, he would have approved very much of Adam’s performance.

"So, this week, Adam Lambert nailed it for many reasons:

1) He's was never going to sing country. He took an iconic country song and gave it the "Nine Inch Nails" treatment and it worked for his style. It is already evident he has one; heavy on the drama. (Dolly Parton covered Collective Soul's "Shine" and it was a country hit.) And, if he knows Johnny Cash from seeing Joaquin Phoenix, that was played dark.

2) Which leads to - he's a great performer. He's already done stage. Can you tell? He can sing. He can dance. Check out youtube: adam lambert crazy

3) Despite what Simon said this week, he has called Adam out as a front-runner already in the media; I think Extra - the one with his girlfriend. And on this week's show, record producer and judge Randy Jackson noted his nine octive range on that song. And, note-perfect. You can do a lot with that voice. Clive Davis has done wonders with Kelly and Carrie.

3) Critics said the eastern/sitar sound music was weird music. Well, Adam's just upstaged Anoop Dawg with East Idian pop. Anyone here heard of Slumdog Millionaire? Or the song "Jai Ho" by 0 Rahman that right now is #2 on Kiss-FM. This is Idol's demographic. Score.

4) He's styled to the T. From the fingerless gloves, to the leather jacket, zipper-front jeans, black nail polish, guy-liner... he's put together. Pre-packaged you might say. He's the BAD Jonas Brother.

5) The guy made the Idol tour tonight. Adam gets to perform and he's going to put everyone, save Danny Gokey, to shame.

Danny has great energy and he's all-american. Danny's more American Idol than anyone there and talented, but mark my words... you keep you're eye-liner on Lambert!"

I have to agree with Simon. What the HELL was that?! And I thought he was bad before. He took the one country song I thought was respectable, and demolished it. Don't crown him, assassinate him.
