very pitchy and bland

Simon had no right to say that Aaron's performance was like a cupcake because I thought Aaron did a great job. On the other hand Didi has to go because she picked the wrong song and I didn't like her that much. Next Week Aaron has to really bring it with whatever theme will be announced on the show if he wants to make it to the finale at all. Vote For Aaron Kelly to be the next American Idol.

1st time aaron didnt sell his song to me, was much better in clip as mentioned.

Besides all that 9TH season of Idol and that crap list of songs to choose from was all they could muster. It wasnt even a R&B list, u had 1-1 freakin Brian Mcknight song? No Johnny Gill etc etc some of Ushers lamer songs. It was merely a lame title for motown week.

I also thought it was a corny shoe in that he'd sing Momma by Boys 2 Men, coulda pulled a nice country version of that.

considering just how bad this years crop of singers is Aaron is miles ahead of all of them......in a field of dull as dishwater singers Aaron totally stands out and he emotes better than any of the others .....and he has great tone....if he doesnt make it to the finale this will be another scar on this years otherwise awful season....The Kid is GREAT!!!

I really like his voice and all, but honestly, he sounded better in the rehearsal than he did on stage. I still hope he stays, though

I thought the same thing when he picked this song. Not smart when it was the knock-out performance of the winner from the previous season. Too big of shoes to fill. I bet if there was comradery among the contestants like they had with Adam & Alison last year, someone would have tipped him off about that. Instead, I do agree with the poster who hinted that they're more cutthroat and fake-friendly this year. Come to think of it, this song for Aaron was probably Katie Stevens' idea.

Well Aaron's version just shows how good Kris's version of this song was & Michael Johns the year before . Both of them put so much feeling & soul into this song which Aaron just doesn't have yet!! [ it was a bit one dimensional]

it started off kind of pitchy, but he sounded pretty good for the rest of the song. however the rest of the song didn't really go anywhere, it didn't climax, there was no intensity, it just stayed at this like happy medium. it was kind of disappointing in that aspect.

Plus, Kris Allen's version was LIGHT YEARS better. Sorry. :/

Maybe, HP. Something about his live vocal is always "off." I don't care for his so-called vibratto, it's goaty. The Angie song a couple weeks ago is the only performance of his that I actually walked away thinking he had vocal ability.

Sorry to burst the bubble for those who think he could make it in country......
H-E-L-L N-O! He will get eaten up. Country fans do not embrace young male singers these days, its hard enough for twenty and 30-something male singers. And Bucky and Josh Gracin do not have great track records in the industry. Bo Bice will not be fully embraced because he started with soul/rock.

I think his problem was that he doesn't know how to blend his voice...

I really like him, but this wasn't his best. I would have preferred a different song choice due to the obvious Kris comparison. I did notice he was still coughing from his sickness from last week. I hope he gets better because I'd like to see him last awhile. I think he could really make it in country music. I love his voice, but this wasn't one of his best performances. And...last week on the results show, he had on a really cool outfit, especially his shirt. It was really cool looking. Tonight's hoody/shirt combo didn't look as great IMO. I really like him, though & I'm rooting for him!

Simon sweetie it s been 1 year, i know you’re still mad adam lost, but Kris was better, and deep inside you know it so it s ok to acknoledge his awesomeness. You can say his name….it s not like we don t know it s him you re talking about!!

What I dont get is why the judges dont apply what they say to Katie to him? Oh, right because that's the way they operate. He is also 16 right? And so far all his performance have been very old fashioned too. He could have gone with some Usher, Chris Brown...

Okay I seriously have no clue what everyone sees in this guy. Besides obviously the tween girls that love him cause hes geeky cute looking. Although I really don't get that whole thing either but hey I'm not a girl so I guess I never will. But I honestly think the judges are far more lenient with him. He honestly sounds like he came out of a boy band. He always sounds forced with his singing. And that country twang thing he has only works with country songs. And even those he can't pull off cause he doesn't have that cool low voice. And in all honesty he literally sounds the exact same to me every week.

But unfortunately he won't go home for a while do to the fan base that's voting for this show. The exact same reason why Tim has survived this long.

I thought he did good. But, he didn't take it to the point that he could have. Maybe he's just saving his voice from being sick..... but I think it will come down between Aaron and Lee as the last two men standing. My guess is Lee would beat Aaron.

I can tell he's still not 100% from whatever sickness he had last week but he still manages to sing well. That's impressive for a kid his age.

Lame.

He sounded really nervous tonight... I hope he doesn't make it to the finale... He can sing, I grant him that, but I would like to see either Siobhan, Big Mike, Lee, or Casey in the finale with Crystal.

i can see him having a good future in country music , he has a great country voice , it would be nice to see a guy country singer winning idol , he won't win , but hes really young , and has a good country voice. you will see him on the top of the country charts , but hes no where near lee as best male.

Yeah, this wasn't good. I mean, it was okay, definitely not the worst tonight, but it's like Simon said. It was just half-baked coming on after Lee and Crystal who completely owned it tonight.

Besides, Kris Allen owned this song last season. Sorry Aaron.

for me, the best of male tonight.

Aaron will be accompanying Crystal to the finale.......the other great vocal of the night!!

I'm not so sure that was a good song choice. Why pick a song where you're inevitably going to get compared to Kris?
