The Women of the Year 2009 are: Rihanna, Maria Shriver, Stella McCartney, Amy Poehler, Marissa Mayer, Serena Williams, Jane Aronson, Susan Rice, Euna Lee & Laura Ling, One Million Signatures Campaign, Maya Angelou and a special recognition for Michelle Obama.

Glamour magazine named Rihanna 2009 Woman of the Year in its December issue, and in her interview, Rihanna says: “I went to sleep as Rihanna and woke up as Britney Spears. That was the level of media chaos that happened the next day.”
She adds: “The positive thing that has come out of my situation is that people can learn from that. I want to give as much insight as I can to young women, because I feel like I represent a voice that really isn’t heard.”
Well, it’s good that she’s finally coming forward with the domestic violence issue, even if it’s tied in with the launch of her latest album. I was really appalled when news broke out of the incident with Chris Brown a few months ago, people actually thought “she deserved it.”
Our youth need education!
