Adam Lambert Responds To OUT Magazine Scandal 21

Entertainment Weekly asked Adam Lambert about the OUT Magazine scandal at the AMA rehearsals in LA.

Excerpt:

Adam: “But I didn’t feel comfortable talking about the March on Washington. I didn’t feel comfortable, so I asked my publicist to ask the interviewer to stay away from the political questions. I take full responsibility for that. I think that the editor has his agenda and has his opinions, which I respect, but they’re not necessarily my opinions. And I wish there was a little respect for that. Not every gay man is the same gay man.”

I am at a loss for words.

Lady Gaga contributed this song for Adam Lambert’s 2009 debut CD “For Your Entertainment”.

Here she is singing “Fever” in New York City in 2006.

Thanks katydid for the link. This kind of makes me shake my head a little bit when I read press releases disguised as “reviews” saying that Adam Lambert collaborated with Lady Gaga, and all those other “big name artists” on his CD.

OMG! Is the backlash real? Can Adam Lambert’s career be saved? I’m so worried now.

Adam’s performance at the AMAs this Sunday better be better than anything Lady Gaga has ever come up with or he will be skewered come Monday on the Internet. @god I’m so scared!

“Adam Lambert’s Debut Album ‘For Your Entertainment’ Is Simply Mediocre. You want to like ‘Entertainment,’ but it’s a trumped-up bit of fluff. Ultimately, Entertainment is its own undoing. It tries too hard to engineer edge and in doing so it declaws any of the deviance that endeared us to him in the first place.”

“This album is just a collection of songs rejected by other singers, and it’s obvious why the songs were rejected in the first place. By the time you hear Adam coo “no no no” in a baby voice during the song “Fever”, you’ll be ready to throw the album out the window.”

Catfight!

Adam Lambert just tweeted to Aaron Hicklin, editor of OUT Magazine via Twitter:

“Dear Aaron, it’s def not that deep. Chill! Guess ya gotta get attention for the magazine. U too are at the mercy of the marketing machine.

Until we have a meaningful conversation, perhaps you should refrain from projecting your publications’ agenda onto my career.”

He also linked to an anti-gay post on fan site Planet Fierce.

Adam Lambert is now his own PR machine. It’s ironic that OUT complained about how 19E is “controlling” Adam’s career — and yet Adam has literally let loose on Twitter on his own.

I have one word for all of this: hubris. I am telling you, this is not going to end nicely.

From the Out Editorial:

“Dear Adam: I like you, I really do. Although I’d never watched American Idol, I became a fan this year thanks to your unapologetic flamboyance and sexual swagger. It was refreshing to see someone playing by his own rules among so many cookie-cutters. And although you narrowly lost to Kris Allen, you were the real winner for those of us who saw your success as a test of America’s growing tolerance. That’s why we’re proud to have you in this year’s Out 100, along
with all the other men and women who don’t believe their sexuality should be a barrier to success. It’s unfortunate, therefore, that your record label and management don’t share the same view.”

Management did not want Adam to look “too gay”.

I think this is because a lot of fans are still clinging to that one hope that Adam is bisexual and not completely gay, even if Adam Lambert has already said that he was gay and loves men. Also, a huge majority of Adam’s fans are women.

Adam Lambert’s music video for “For Your Entertainment” features a guy with rubber thimbles over his nipples, and an almost-naked man eating Doritos.

Well, all I ask is that the video not look cheap. But after seeing these extras, it looks like there’s a good chance that it might. I doubt that Sony gave Adam Lambert a “Bad Romance” Lady Gaga budget.
