Cuter than dozens of buttons. And TALENTED. And humble. And polite. And and AND. Love her. She, and maybe two others, were the only bright lights in an otherwise dim episode.

Amazing that this sweetness can exist in the same space as that utter waste of time at the end of the show, the self-aggrandizing, foul, filthy, and wholly unentertaining Rhonetta.

I just hope the producers don’t screw with this precious little deer-in-the-headlights utilizing some of their typical chicanery (for Jodi), such as having her sing an AC/DC tune while being accompanied onstage by a live-but-closer-to-the-grave-than-his-former-musical-brilliance Paul Anka. ‘Cuz gosh knows, performances like that are a sure measure of who can and can’t be a popstar.

(Anyone else think AI is like high school history? You have to learn and regurgitate a bunch of totally useless tripe to get a diploma, then you never ever ever have to use the information again….)

i need to follow up on that last post. first, a correction, “to A recording contract…”

more importantly, this girl does not need AI, in fact, i would hate for her to get locked into a contract through them, and put out some super rushed pop record. that would be a damn shame. why even go through AI? surely nana coulda hooked her baby girl up. honestly, she is TOO GOOD for this “competition”.

I didn’t think the Dixie Chicks song was anything special, but her version of Take 5 was perfection. Her vocal tone and style are classic. Hopefully she’ll make wise song choices if she makes it to the voting rounds. I think her voice and talent are incredible, but I also think that she can be ruined by singing a song that doesn’t fit (which I suppose is universally important, but more so for her).

Thanks for sharing that clip. Although I do not watch television regularly, I do enjoy seeing both the talent and the freakshows on American Idol. This young lady’s talent and poise gave me renewed faith in the program. I hope she represents a sign of things to come.

I actually think Randy said 7 Wows and some other jibberish… He was speechness, but not not soundless. It’s funny that the only way I know someone is good is if I get chills… She gave me chills… Kinda like Fantastia with Summertime…

I just don’t understand why her Grandmother (Nesby) could not get her a record deal… I guess American Idol might be a better way… Just kinda odd!!!

Paris gave me chills!!! I was completely blown away by her audition. I honestly thinks she is too talented for Americal Idol. She’s talented enough to win but she is not a pop singer and she shouldnt be marketed as a pop artist. I would LOOOVE for her to hook up with verve records and make a HOT jazz album. HOLY CRAP!!!!! Words can not describe how incredible this young girls version of “Take 5″ was. Rarely do you see someone on this show who makes you wonder why they haven’t been discovered already, but she sure did. I believe she had the best audition in the 5 years of the show. Thank god for TiVo. I’ve watched it about 50 times with the surround sound up REAL loud. The only way she doesn’t win is if she gets signed before the show starts. I’ll be cheering for her either way. GO PARIS.

I liked how poised and polite she was. Obviously raised well. The Dixie Chicks song was done well enough that I would have sent her to Hollywood on that alone. When she did the Billie Holiday I was floored! It was simply magical. And then how moved she was when the judges raved and sent her through was just so sweet. Her performance and reaction afterwards almost moved me to tears.

Holy Mother Load….Why wait to go through AI? Does any one know where I can purchase a Paris Bennett CD? Sorry TiVo is just not going to tide me over.. I know there are a lot of other contestants, but let save everyone the pain of watching and the pain of waiting to get her Cd and get this thing out NOW. Hey I don’t even care what KIND of song she sings…..Just let the girl sing…..If Paris doesn’t win…I’m picketing my local Wal-mart, K-mart, Target, Toys r Us, McDonalds….well you get the idea.

I heard the “Take Five” song is by Carmen McRae and not Billie Holiday…unless Billie recorded it also. And I just heard the McRae version. Paris Bennett totally made that song sooooooooooo much better. She made it distinguishable!

I’m older, male, and one jaded SOB. This girl’s singing had tears welling up in my eyes on the first song. The second song was pure joy. I was scouring the web to find her clip to listen to her sing. I can only hope that her audition was just to get her exposure for her CD which I will buy. Absolutely a musical prodigy. There is a difference between a good singer and one that can touch your soul. She touched my soul.

I watched her performance in London, England and I have to say all my friends agree with me she’s 1000 time better than kelly clarkson…there’s an effortless smoothness and naturalness to her voice that’s unparrelled in American Idol, with the other singer you can see it in their facial expression that their striving to hit the high notes and in doing so sound more like shouting, with her it’s more a easy tone reminicent of Aretha Franklin of Dina Washington…class, I was expecting simon to say…enough we’ve got our American Idol!

Hi, I never watched american Idol, but that particular day I turned my tv on and watched it because of the people and the funny stuff.

Man, I just can’t describe with words what I felt when I heard her… it made me close to tears! What a genuine and full of heart voice, unlike any other.

She is an angel, I truly hope she wins, and if not, she already has, as many have already said it here, a fan.
