And so the first CD to come out of American Idol Season 7 is… Kristy Lee Cook’s “Why Wait”.

I am still in shock. Days after the Summer Tour ends, she has an album out. Forget Carly, the Davids and Michael — Kristy Lee Cook is the biggest plant in American Idol history. This album was ready no matter where she placed in the competition. They didn’t even bother to hide that fact. Meanwhile, the 2 most popular contestants this season are either still choosing songs or recording. And the so-called “ultimate plant” Carly Smithson has not even announced that she has been signed by a label. Unreal.

Why does everyone still feel the need to have the American Idol contestants compete with each other? why does this person have an album coming out before this person and so on. American Idol and the competition is over. Also when did it become the norm that every single contestant was going to get a record deal? There are opinions involved here too. I personally don’t care for Carly as a performer and I can’t stand Michael Johns on any level so I could care less if either of them ever make a record. By the way Kristy Lee Cook reportedly recorded her album in four days which is probably why it came out so early. The Davids are taking more time to put together quality albums since they have legitimate careers ahead of them.

Doesn’t surprise me at all. She’s gorgeous, has star quality, and with the right material will do very well. I’m not a country music fan, for the most part, but I could see her having a respectable career.

Please, though, for the sake of mankind, don’t let her sing any more Beatles songs. Think of the children, people!

Good for her! I bought the CD. Why Wait is a very good song. I think she might pull out a few hits on this CD.

Even tho I had favorites I wish them all success in their endeavor into the music industry . I am sure Rickey does also.

I read his blog ,in that he was referring to the AI entity moreso than competition between the idols themselves.

I hope they all have Number 1’s!

I wish KLC much luck and agree that the album is beautiful, but I find it slightly ironic/hokey/tongue-in-cheek as well to have a horse on the front of her album after all the fuss about her selling her barrel-horse to go on AI.

The album is fantastic, Baby Believe and Like my mamma does are outstanding. Kristy showed some great range, and belt as well as some very good songs. And for those who don’t know. An album does not happen in 4 days. She may go into studio, after selecting songs, musicians, studio, producer etc, and after spending hours (sometimes up to 16-18 hours a day) then it can be done in 4 to 5 recording appearances. It’s like taking a dump, it only takes a few minutes (with any luck), but how long did it take to get it there. Great Album Kristy, and man you look tall next to Ricky (sorry Ricky)

She deserves to have a cd. I’m glad she’s come into her element. Too bad she didn’t know who she was as an artist on the show soon enough. I think she’s going to do well.
