I’ve been having trouble getting through all evening. I started voting while little David was still singing and got through quite a few times. Once the show started I got a busy signal. Think I’ve only gotten through about 10 times all night. I hope this is a good sign???????? I live in Missouri so this could be the problem with getting through. I will keep voting until the night is over. DC must win!

When I first called I got 5 calls in in the first 15 minutes. From then on I averaged 5 calls every 3,4 minutes most times! That was the first hour with the 80 calls total.

Second hour I got luckier. Averaged 5 calls every 2 minutes or so… total 135 calls.

Still voting this hour and I’m getting through almost every single time… but, I have to say, I’m slowing down just a bit.

Tonight I disagreed with Simon. I didn’t think cook was that ‘bad’ and archuleta was that ‘good’.
Cook showed us different sides of him, as Randy point it out (wow! Finally randy! ahahah) and archuleta was with his ballads and hits. Not impressive, in my opinion.

Anyway, I think archuleta is going to win. But I really hope cook does. I believe he deserves it more.

Go Cookies! DC was awesome tonight – I loved ‘The World I Know’ – definitely one of my faves

Pardon my French, but what in gawd’s name were the judges smoking tonight?? Archie is pretty darn cute, but he could have literally stood in the middle of the stage, actually read the phone book, and/or pass gas… and the judges would have showered him in praise. Makes me gag a little. Randy’s credibility as a judge is essentially nil at this point. Archie’s version of ‘Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me’ was no where near as good as Clay Aiken’s rendition in Season 2 (not by a mile). Oh well.

Bravo to DC for staying true to his roots. I think it’s great that he chose NOT to re-do a song that he has already done earlier this season. His originality will be what wins him the competition (hopefully!). DC rocks.

I felt the same way about lovin’ Simon on Ellen. But tonight I didn’t love him anymore. I think he kinda did a slap in the face thing to Cookie and he didn’t deserve it… not one little bit. And I’m not saying that just because he was saying negative things and poor me I didn’t like it. I’m saying it because Cookie has put a hell of a lot of work into all this and he soooo deserved to have compliments. Not this round one thing goes to, round two thing goes to… it just rubbed me wrong. I think on the last night the judges should not be able to comment, like Australian Idol. Just let the audience make their own decissions and not try to sway them!

Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing what we are experiencing when we call…none of us are hearing the “Thank you” part of the recording, we are just hearing “…testant 1. “It’s The World I Know…”

Tonight on American Idol, David Archuleta and David Cook decided to go in very different directions. This is not surprising considering the fact that both Davids are at completely different stages of their lives and bring different styles of music to the table. As a result, it is impossible for me to judge David A. or David Cook against each other tonight without using some historical context. And, after careful examination and reflective analysis, after looking through the archives in my mind and really giving this some thought, I have come to two conclusions:

Tonight, David Archuleta played to win Season Seven, while David Cook decided to go for something much more important: “progression” and a lasting impression.

David Archuleta deserves all the credit in the world for wanting to win American Idol and going for the gusto by using the tried and true formula for success by staying in his wheelhouse. He sang three ballads that were right up his alley, and of course when he had his choice of the lot he chose to close out the season with John Lennon’s “Imagine”. David sang his heart out and made all the right connections while pushing all the right buttons on this well-received night-capper, and so of course he drew the type of ovation and praise that is usually preserved for the person who winds up taking the Idol crown.

For the record, allow me to state that I have no problem at all with David A. doing all he can to win. After all, one of my biggest hopes for this season was for the audience to have a reason for care for the contestants, and for the contestants to care about winning the top prize. There is not doubt that David Archuleta would feel truly blessed and honored to win American Idol, and at the very least that is a step in the right direction for the show.

HOWEVER, what David Cook did tonight goes beyond a short-term goal to win and reaches a second level we have only rarely seen glimpses of on this show.

The last time I remember feeling this connected with a contestant at this stage of the competition was when Fantasia took the stage during Season Three and sang “I Believe,” which to this day is the only winner’s song that has been worthy of praise and airplay. And why was it so palatable? Because Fantasia truly brought the entire idea of performance, heart, charisma, and identity and took it to a level that even she has not and may not ever reach again in her lifetime.

Getting back to David Cook, what made his third performance so special and rare is that he willingly and wittingly chose to forego a retread performance of either “Billie Jean” or “Always Be My Baby” that would have garnered him a ton of votes from the viewers. Instead, David Cook decided to sing Collective Soul’s “The World I Know”, and in doing so he revealed a side of himself that I think will truly set him apart from every other finalist who has ever graced the stage. It is a side that truly thinks like a real musician, a side that enables him to look to the future rather than rest on his laurels, a side that keeps him fresh and a side that makes him determined to carve out a new niche for himself in the rock world. Most importantly, David Cook showed the type of vulnerability through this vocally layered performance that was wrought with pure emotion and never seemed to be anything but totally and utterly and truly genuinely David Cook.

For that alone, David Cook deserves all the credit in the world from any music fan like myself who feels that the best connection any artist can make is to the audience through lyrics that just seem to flow seamlessly from the singer to the listener…

WTF? Simon did Cook so wrong tonight, I have no words. Say whatever about the first 2 songs, but that Collective Soul number? Jesus, that was one of the most beautiful performances of the season. I’m proud (lame, I know) of DC for not losing his integrity and caving into the demands of “what will win the competition”. He stayed true to himself by continuing the “progression” of his artistic choices, and not falling back on an old faithful. He deserved much much more from Simon because that last song ALONE trumped all of archie’s pretty, lovely sameness tonight.

DC is a solid 10 points on dialidol, and he still might pull out a win, but Simon deflated me tonight. He let David go out of this competition on a bad note, and that kind of thing doesn’t compute for me. Not after DC’s been the best of the best of any season on this mf’ing show.

simon is an ass, cook was spectacular and is currently leading on dialidol. one hour left for me, counting on you to hold his lead, west coasters. cook might win this yet, though after tonight, i wouldn’t get my hopes up. still, it’s amazing how complete rage can fuel determination and finger speed. also, turns out that dialing through tears of bitterness isn’t that hard, even if my entire body is shaking in anger.

try the 05 line or 03 if you can’t get through. text as much as you can. just because cook’s first on dialidol doesn’t mean he’s first in votes.

and yes, i am currently typing this with one hand.

Speaking of asses, since this night was not glorious enough as it is, I got banned from TWOP. Again. For absolutely no good reason whatsoever except for whoever the asshole there who runs the site hating me and finding every stupid reason to send the most insulting warns/bans my way. I love the people there, but I’m just disgusted, seriously. The person there has some serious issues.

Speaking of issues. I did not see anything of the evening coming, nothing at all. I have no idea what Simon’s problem was, except for balancing out the praise he was giving to DC all week. I have no idea what influence this will have on the result. I hope that the viewers are not so easily influenced by the judges, and that this swayed the borderline voters to actually vote.

I completely agree, laff! I was SO upset with Simon. WTH was up with him tonight? DC gave three AMAZING performances and the judges didn’t at ALL give him the comments that he deserved. I just want to kick them all. Seriously. I had been so happy with Simon over his Ellen interview and then he goes and does THIS to DC! I just want to scream!

But instead, I am voting my fingers off. I wish I could do so much more, but alas, I’m only one person. I did hand out flyers today, though, and have posted his voting numbers on several forums tonight and have pestered all of my online friends to vote. So I’m doing as much as I possibly can.

But still. I feel so inadequate. And the night was such a downer for me. Stupid judges.

Couldn’t watch live, had to tape tonight Both David’s brought tears to my eyes tonight. One with his music and one with his own overwhelmed emotions.

No doubt that DA is a kid who has realized his dream. What a cutie.

DC brought me to tears with his music and with his raw emotion. Watching him sing while looking out at those 7,000 fans you could see the awe and humility all over his face. He was genuinly moved by a feeling none of us will ever really experience.

They were both excellent in different ways and I do believe that which ever one wins, he will feel honestly unworthy and wish the other David had won. If you think there were tears tonight, hold on to your snot rag!! Tomorrow when the winner is crowned it will bring a flood!!

Archuleta sang the iconic IMAGINE without getting the message tonight. I saw his desire to win, yes, but I didn’t see any emotion other than that one. Cook sang THE WORLD I KNOW, a simpler song (although IMAGINE is supposed to be very simple, and it’s supposed to be perform straight, without any acrobatics), and made us hear every note, every word, every emotion he felt, we felt it. And that to me, is why he is the next AMERICAN IDOL.

But then Archuleta is averly averpraised and Cook gets slammed by Simon for being innovative, creative, different.

Why do Simon feels that all songs have to have huge notes?

My own take on tonight is this:

Round 1: Cook took an iconic rock song and sang it straight up. I have The Joshua Tree on constant play in my car. I think despite my love for Cook, if he had murdered the song, I would have been pissed because my love for U2 knows very little bounds. But he did not once make me cringe. In fact I Floved that performance. Archie did well on his song. He sang pretty much the way we know how he sings and he did it well. I don’t call round 1 for either because they both did great jobs.

Round 2: Cook decided to go the feel good route and chose a song that after tonight, i will never ever listen to again. that said, i still hear faint echoes of the chorus in my brain so props to him for choosing a catchy tune. Archie sang a second song. I don’t remember any of it. While I’d give it to Cook because it stuck in my head, I still call it a wash. Nobody wins round 2.

Round 3: Now here is where it gets iffy.

It’s TWIK vs. Imagine.

By no means is TWIK on equal footing with Imagine. But see here’s the thing. Cook took a song like TWIK and for one moment made me believe that it is a more beautiful song than Imagine.

Imagine is a song so beautiful it stands its ground without any pageantry or vocal calisthenics needed. John Lennon sang it so simply as to not to take away anything from the lyrics of the song. Archie took it and made it an exercise similar to singing scales completely missing the point.

OTOH, Cook sang a not so known song and made me believe that whatever it was saying should be a life lesson I should never forget.

If AI is all about vocal calisthenics and pageantry, crown the prince Archuleta now. He deserves it. But it does nothing to further music as an art. Which is sad.

In my perfect world talent is nothing when not paired with artistry. David Cook did not just sing to win AI tonight, he sang to continue to contribute something to music.

Whatever happens tomorrow night, this season has been a fun ride. So thank you David Cook. By being there, you’ve made my musical world a better place to be in.

cook did what no other musician has EVER done for me in my entire life before. he made me tear up with twik. i could feel all of his heart being poured into that song.

two minutes later, ai did what no other show has EVER done to me before, not even the house finale. it made outright burst into tears. tears of rage, that is. what the judges did tonight was even worse than what they did to jason. after all his work, cook deserved to go out on a high note.

i am done with this show. i’m not even tuning in for the finale tomorrow. up until now, i was perfectly fine with archie taking the crown. not anymore.

As much as I would have loved to listen to David Cook belt out ‘Billie Jean’ or ‘Always Be My Baby’ again… I am extremely elated and proud that he chose to do a different song. Not only was ‘The World I Know’ freak-ish-ly (is that even a word?) AWESOME, it also showcased a different side to his artistry. DC = true artist, true talent.

As for Archie, he was adorable and cute as always. And apparently, he can also sing ‘Imagine’ (again… and again). He probably would have sung ‘Angels’ too if he could… OK, I’m going to stop with the sarcasm now. All of this voting is apparently making me moody!!

hello fellow cookies. sorry i’ve been MIA lately. i thought it was a close ‘fight’ today (going with the boxing theme ) tonight, it looked like DC was being himself, giving everyone a preview of the artist he is and not exactly out to please the judges. could prove to be a smart move in the long run.

and i have no idea what simon was smoking. maybe he is giving another kiss of death..? in fairness though, DA did very good. but i don’t think it was a knockout.

the coronation song didn’t suck all that much i think. last year’s this is my now was really awful. while DA’s coronation song was more in tune with the idol theme, i am more likely to listen to DC’s song.

“Nothing against David Archuleta. Seriously. He did exactly what he needed to do. I’m not going to get upset with anyone who thought that David Archuleta was better than David Cook tonight, or throughout the season. That is a valid conversation that can be had among American Idol fans. However, the discrepancy between the quality of Archuleta’s performances tonight and the reactions they invoked from the judges was so vast that it became difficult to watch. Archuleta didn’t give a bad performance tonight. He didn’t give a spectacular performance either. In fact, he did nothing tonight that he didn’t do all season. The judges treated him, however, like a shining, teenage singing gift from the heavens, sent to Los Angeles from the fertile soil of Utah to bestow upon America the gift of holy vocal runs, splendiferous balladeering, and life-altering performances.

Sweet Melissa, I noticed Daughtry in that line-up as well. Seacrest said something like, “one of the Davids will take his place among the superstars”. He didn’t say “winners”.

The other thing that was weird was Simon’s critique of “Imagine” … he told archie that tonight was about finding the next superstar, and what set archie apart was that he came to win it, and that it was a knockout. Is Simon seriously trying to sell us on archie’s superstardom potential over Cook’s? Come on, Simon, you big fat poopy-head.

The other thing – when DC was explaining his progression over repetition rationale, notice how he instantly back-pedaled? rofl, shades of “no charisma” night, Dave? But did you see when he DID back-pedal a bit, Simon gave him his patented *wink*. What in the Sam Hill does that wink-for-all-purposes mean?

Oh, and one more thing: Simon whipped out the ol’ “you’re a really nice guy” smackdown .. like when he told Elliott he made his mom proud right before the big heave-ho. Grrrrrrrrrr.

Great performances! “I Still Haven’t Found…” and “The World I Know” were great choices!!!! (nice one on Clive, I didn’t think he had it in him)

Go David!! Win or lose, this guy could have a Daughtry-Clarkson type career ahead of him! It might even be better for him if he doesn’t win the “King of the Cheese” award by winning this show.

Loved it! It was something I would pay to see, rather than put up with as TV entertainment.

Archie was good too–just more pageant-y, which is why I think he is the rightful winner.

I had a meeting tonight 7-8:30 so I had my girls tape the show for me. As soon as I walked in my littlest one (9) calls out “They hated Cook and Loved Archie” I said “What???” and she said, “Mom it was so sad Cook was good and they lied to him”

No. I’m definitely a Cook fan. I like Archie though, I think he’s sweet. I don’t see buying an album from him though; the sappy inspirational crap is not for me.

I’m just torn about a Cook win for some reason. I strangely feel like it would give him more credibility as an artist if he didn’t win this cheese-fest show. Maybe I’m just cynical and jaded, I just don’t want “Dream Big” to be Cook’s single and I wan him to have more artistic control than I believe the winner has. I want him to have a Daughtry level of control, because I actually think he would do more with it than Chris did. Okay, I have simmered down a little. I won’t be talking about Archie’s performances because they were the same as always and also because thinking about it will piss me off.

Cook’s U2? Great. Fantastic. Clive picked the wrong U2 song, though, because it didn’t have enough build.
Cook’s coronation song? The absolute best he could do with a piece of crap. I could actually see it being played on the radio today. FU Simon, I actually LIKE coronation songs that aren’t full of sap and puppies and unicorns and rainbows and vomit.
Cook’s TWIK? My favorite performance of his ALL SEASON. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – first song EVER that made me choke up. Absolutely gorgeous, what he did, and I wasn’t the hugest fan of the original. No, it wasn’t well known and didn’t have the energy of a ‘winning song’, but Cook stayed true to himself until the end. He performed at the finale like an actual artist, not like a contestant. I guess that pissed Simon off. A++++ to Cook’s comment about how he was meant to show progression, not stagnation. Not even Cowell had anything to say to that.

And now, onto Simon. I don’t get what happened. Simon said absolutely nothing about Cook’s vocals. All of his critiques were on song choice – yet, just this morning, Simon was on Ellen predicting that Cook would win BECAUSE of his song choices!

If Simon’s intent was to drive the bus over Cook, screw him. Cook’s been the best, most original, and most versatile contestant on the season BY FAR. Even if Archie outperformed him tonight, Cook deserved to go out on a high note, not on the Brit coming after him for all those ‘risks’ he so heavily praised before.

If Simon’s intent was to create a massive wave of backlash from outraged Cook fans, it worked. Small confession here – I have never voted for AI in my life. I love Cook, but I have never brought myself to pick up the phone for him. I certainly wasn’t planning on voting tonight – I was just going to watch and enjoy his performances.

Instead, I dialed for all. four. hours. Over and over again. Simon’s comments enraged me to the point where I couldn’t stand NOT to powervote Cook’s way into the confetti. And judging by Cook’s lead on DI, there are a lot of people in the same boat as me.

Now, I’ve always liked Simon, even when he was critiquing my favorites. But I will not be watching this show again. Too exhausting and frustrating to watch talented contestants get steamrollered over simply because they didn’t fit in the box that TPTB wanted. They did it to Carly, they did it to Jason, and tonight they did it to Cook.

Here’s hoping to a Cook win. Show them that America isn’t as blind or deaf as they think we are.

West Coasters and international fans, please, for all of our sakes, KEEP VOTING. Cook deserves the win this year more than anyone else.

lex – If Cook comes in second, there’s a good chance he’ll become Bo Bice or Blake Lewis rather than Daughtry. Second-place finishers typically don’t get any more control over their albums; they just get less money, less effort, and less promotion. Their albums are almost always released much later than the winner’s, when the AI craze has already worn off.

If you’re a Cook fan, please vote for him. I don’t want to see him tread the same path as Bo Bice/Melinda Doolittle/Blake Lewis. All talented, all shafted in the end in favor of the winner.

The thing is Bo was a niche artist, and an out of date one at that. Southern Rock has no market. Same for Blake, he was a mediocre beat-boxer–a fad that’s been dead since the late 80s.

Daughtry had a market, and the marketing team could see that. Cook also has a market, in fact it’s far more current than the Daughtry-Nickelback sound.

AI loves Cook, he will get plenty of promo. I have no concerns for his career. Win or not, they see the money that Cook can make for them (see iTunes sales). Somehow, I can’t make myself worry about this one.

Melissa: I love Jason! He’s amazing. I think he’s misunderstood because he’s so different.

I adore him! DAYDREAM, HALLELLUJAH, TRAVELLIN’ THRU, SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW, I DON’T WANNA CRY, FOREVER IN BLUE JEANS, even MEMORY (which I didn’t find bad, just refreshingly different).

He’s the total oppsite of Archuleta, who’s groomed, trained, shy, has a huge voice and doesn’t connect with the songs. Jason is unexperienced, goofy, not shy at all, doesn’t have a huge voice, but an amazing sweet distinctive one, and connects with every song.

I only endured teh group numbers because of Jason and his dancing. I missed him a hell lot last week when teh top 3 were dancing the cheesy group number. I just thought about ‘how would Jason look there?’

lex – Here’s the thing. Taylor Hicks was never meant to win AI. Daughtry was. His boot enraged TPTB like nothing else before. They obliterated Hicks from AI history and treated Daughtry like he was the winner – you saw the intro to the final. Daughtry never won AI, yet he was pictured with Kelly, Ruben and Underwood.

However, this year, TPTB NEED to have the winner outsell every other contestant. Winning AI is no longer seen as a goal, but as an option. After two years of mediocre winners, TPTB need to produce a superstar again in order to restore legitimacy to its name. Having the runner-up beat the winner in sales will produce the opposite effect.

If Archie wins, I can definitely see TPTB shafting Cook in order to make it look as though America got it right this year. They didn’t do that with Daughtry because they wanted to make it very clear that America voted off the wrong contestant. TPTB HATE it when they lose control.

Chris Daughtry is the exception, not the rule. Statistically speaking, you are much, much, MUCH better off winning AI than coming in second, or fourth, or seventh.

I see your point Demi, I’m just a worrier, I guess. I feel like the AI winner is fine for the pure pop market a la Kelly and Carrie, but I think it actually gave Chris an edge to be the one turned down by the pop-talent show. Like he was too edgy for them or something. And, somehow, I feel like Cook is too cool and genuine for the show.

Though I absolutely agree that it is important for the show’s credibility to have a bona fide artist win, rather than DisneyWorld fodder. That being the case, perhaps Cook’s a shoe-in.

The problem I have with Simon intentionally creating a backlash of votes for Cook is that Cook DOESN’T NEED THE HELP. He’s been leading every week in iTunes, DialIdol, polls, etc. All the critics adore him, he’s built up a massive fanbase, and he’s been the most consistently great performer of the season. If Simon had just let it be, Cook would have easily won. Now, there’s a HUGE risk of casual voters going for Archuleta instead. Plus, Cook leaves the show with the illusion of having given one of his worst nights ever, even though the exact opposite is true. If he wins tomorrow, people will mutter about how he doesn’t deserve victory based on last night’s performances. If he loses, people will laugh about how he was completely thrashed by a seventeen year old kid. Meanwhile, if Archie wins, people will grumble about how Cook had to be unfairly bashed in order to grant him victory. If Archie loses, people will snigger about how even though the judges pimped him like whoa, he STILL lost to Cook. Either way, both Davids’ reputations are shot. And the sad part is I actually think both contestants were equally fantastic tonight. Cook just got shafted. Whoever wins should win based on their own talent, not because of an enraged fanbase, or because the competition received unreasonable treatment.

The thing is, Demi, and I’m not saying this to defend anybody, just to point out the sad truth, that this is a TV show. They knew both Davids will give solid performances, at least. They knew DA was an early favorite and DC bypassed him lately. Simon wandered around every possible studio in the greater LA area this week saying Cook was going to win.

Now, if you’re a TV producer, what are you going to do to create a drama? you’re going to sacrifice one of your boys. They had to sacrifice the one who was pulling ahead, because sacrificing the one who was behind (even if still big favorite, the talk was about DC’s building momentum) wouldn’t have created any drama.

I don’t like this one bit, but this is a TV show first, and everything else later. At that point, 19E has rights and will probably use them for both Davids, since they are both very marketable for two very big and very different audiences. Now they need to rescue their ratings, and the only way to get it is to build the drama for tomorrow. It’s been a while since it was really unclear who was going to win.

The well-being of the contestants? well, who cares, apparently. I probably won’t stop watching the show because I know that in the end of the day I love that kind of shows, but I also know exactly what’s going on in the back there and that by watching them I’m basically making a deal with the devil.

However, I gotta say that I usually don’t like American Idol – every other season it has been my least favorite Idol show from the ones I’ve been watching. This season was the exception because of DC and I don’t know if they will manage to find someone to make me care about the show this season. I certainly didn’t care about the show for a while now, not even in the Daughtry period.

Oh, I don’t think the performances were a joke at all. I think this is the best finale we’ve ever had (granted, I’ve only seen two, and Blake/Jordin was not exactly anything to write home about). Both contestants absolutely nailed it tonight. The joke was the judges completely ignoring one of them. Cook just may be the first person to ever win AI based on pure backlash. I know that plenty of Jason fans and Michael Johns fans who weren’t planning on voting tonight brushed off their cellphones and texted all four hours simply out of rage.

Good morning guys. Well, I voted for four hours and my family helped too. I was lucky to get clear signal for three hours. First hour was mostly busy signals. Hope we did enough to achieve a DC victory. I know that Dial Idol does not take into consideration text votes, so we do not know how this lead will play out, but at least it is good to see that lead on their site. Apparently, they have not been wrong about the Finale result and I pray that they do not pick this year to make an exception. Fingers crossed.

The treatment they gave DC last night was disgusting. So they used him to make it appear like a two-horse race and once they got their much hyped finale, they threw him under the bus to ensure that their chosen one (from the beginning) wins. I hope the fans did enough to derail their plan. And these are the people who are asking viewers how to improve their show as the ratings are slipping. Gah. Anyway, let us hope tonight things turn out the way they should and DC is declared the new American Idol. I am an eternal optimistic.

I couldn’t watch after David started crying. I started crying myself. Even when I think about it today for too long I tear up. To me this show isn’t about ONE night and how a contestant does on the last night only. If you voted you should vote for all the wonderful performances we have had from David Cook. He brought us the best season in the history of AI. I think he did wonderful last night. He did seem more emotional than ever before. Maybe because his brother made it there to watch him. In my mind he won! No matter what Rickey is claiming. Dial Idol shows David Cook the winner by quite a bit. I wouldn’t pass that crown to DA just yet. It is still up in the air as far as I am concerned.

I HATE the way they are screwed with too! These a people… not robots up there, they deserve better than American Idol judges throw at them at times. It was horrible to watch have to watch Cookie being treated like that! And yeah, just like Jason, only it sort of hurts more with Cookie because I personally was more invested with him.

They just needed to praise them both up there on the last night and have nothing but possitively good things to say. They should have…

I taped tonight’s performances and listened to them while phoning in all 4 hours for DC. I hope he wins AI. He deserves it because he sung his heart out last night. I can’t believe how good “The World I Know” was. When he went up at the end, it was so beautiful. I actually loved all 3 songs DC did. I know DA did well on Elton John’s song, it is a great song and DC could have done it even better than DA. But DC had U2, and he even sung the sh*t out of it, too! I have a cell phone and it kept going dead on me, and I had to keep charging my phone and then go back 5-10 min later and vote until it went dead again, over and over again. First 20 min I couldn’t get a vote in, but after that I was very persistent and tried all 3 numbers, and voted all 4 hours as much as I could. I hope DC wins!

I have a problem with the way the judges said that DA won all 3 rounds. I didn’t see it that way. How come Simon said DC was phenomenal, and then turn around and say to DA he won the round? I don’t get it. Didn’t see no greyhound bus, yowl, and hope you all didn’t get sidetracked by Simon’s blindness…I know Simon said some nice things, but DA was totally overrated last night. Everyone got caught up in the moment because DA is 17. Well DC is only 25 and look at him! I don’t know a more mature 25 year old than David Cook, and he’s been through so much with his older brother being sick, and all the odd jobs DC had to work in order to stay in the music business and be able to get to his gigs. I’m glad I got to discover David Cook and will always be a fan till I die!

DC did the songs he was meant to sing for idol. He gave us a gift of yet another new song, “The World I Know” instead of redoing one of his “OLD” HITS!!!!!!

The wink Simon gave was after DC said, “I know what you mean, though” and it was not to say “I think you’ve won AI.”

If there is any justice in the world, David Cook will win AI. I was so disappointed in everyone of the judges who got caught up in the moment of DA’s Elton John and then redoing his old song “Imagine.” DC’s coronation song will outsell DA’s, I’m sure, because DC can’t write a bad cover–he’s incapable of producing bad material. DC has the best taste in music I’ve ever heard. That unknown song became a hit once it hit David Cook’s lips! And I imagine we will be hearing from Collective Soul down the line to compliment our David Cook for his precious new interpretation of a great oldie. David Cook makes all things new. Who wants to hear another Donny Osmond? There’s a place for him, but DC is much more mainstream and as an adult, I love listening to DC’s brainy songs!

In a perfect world, that would be great. But AI is a “business”. I believe DA will sell more CD’s if he wins than if he loses. OTOH, DC will sell CD’s either way. The i-tunes sales support that theory.

DA wins, they get their perfect Idol who can be molded any way they want. They’ll have the image they want (DA) and the cash cow (DC) they need. Short-sighted, because it would be better in the long run for AI if Cook wins.

Demi, #91, you have to watch the finale. You have to watch David Cook receive his crown. David Cook’s fans needed something to motivate them to vote, and Simon ignorant words (that DA won all 3 rounds) was just the ticket. Maybe that was Simon’s intentions in making those comments? Maybe not.

I’m hoping people weren’t swayed by the judges’ comments. In David Cook fans’ eyes, he won this competition whether or not he is crowned. But I believe DC will win tonight, and I wouldn’t miss it for the world!!!!!!!!

I had a hard time getting through to Cook’s numbers. His lines were busy for the entire 4 hours. I did get a good number of votes in but I was happy to see that his lines were consistently busy, which is a good sign and they kept being busy to the very end. I voted 4 straight hours because I was so ticked off at the blatant pimping of Archuleta. Both of these contestants didn’t get to the finale for nothing and the judges shouldn’t have done any critiques at this point that would show preference for one contestant over the other. Let America decide.

I remember Simon thought Clay Aiken’s Bridge Over Troubled Waters would win Clay the title but he was wrong. The voting results don’t always reflect the judges comments.

Do they think Americans are stupid and vote on the finale based on what they say? I don’t think so. We are not “sheep” blindly following and voting accordingly to what “dawg” or “I got to be honest with you…” deem the winner is.

I hope America will decide who wins based on their performances throughout the entire season and not on just one night. Cook had three great peformances and I am still reeling over TWIK.

I hear there were people who never voted but were so upset–they picked up that damm phone and voted for Cook. In addition, many two voted 2 hours normally–just were mad enough to keep voting the full 4 hours.

I am hoping that Dial Idol is right–there is too wide a margin (even with errors) between Cook and Archuleta. As far as text messaging goes, well both contestants get text messages. DialIdol has predicted the winner for 6 season straight and they predict David Cook will win this. I hope they are right.

But in some way, Im a bit thankful to him coz what he did last night, earned DC extra votes from my 3 cousins, my mom and aunt. My aunt even borrowed her bf’s phone to vote for DC and they vote thru texts too plus their landline.

I just forgot to tell my 13-yr old brother to vote too so I kinda hate myself for that. He’s always reasonable and do what I ask him to do. Haha!

Oh, guys. I am SO NERVOUS this morning! And seeing Rickey’s huge list of “Archuleta wins the crown!” links at the top of the page sure didn’t help!

I did all I could possibly do last night. I voted the entire four hours and begged some of my online friends to vote as well. So it is out of our hands now and all we can do is hope and pray that it was enough to make sure the RIGHT David won.

I am so going to cry if Archuleta wins, though.

Not because I don’t like Archuleta…but because Cook deserves this SO MUCH MORE. He was treated so unfairly last night that I just want to beat the judges over the head. Especially Simon.

I think DC is the best story of the season. He was never featured in the early shows. We didn’t get his back story did we? He was just a guy who made the cut…then made it again…then we started noticing that this guy’s for real.
My daughter watched the show for the first time this season last night. She’s been at college and just didn’t tune in. She was impressed by both guys’ singing but was really taken with Cook.

Regardless of the outcome tonight, Cook is on his way.

i hope you all were able to rest well after the marathon voting spree last night

it’s almost midnight where i am and i keep on thinking how happy i am for cook whatever happens.

i’ve been reading many recaps and have come to realize one thing. simon, et. al. were looking for a MOMENT from cook, something akin to IDWTMAT maybe. they were looking for him to come out and bury archie with billie jean or hello. what they didn’t see was that TWIK was a moment. it was a moment so great and so subtle it flew right past their heads.

AI has always been crown the power belter, crown the runs and the glory notes. AI moments have always been defined by such terms.

TWIK was subtle and understated. it was cook singing with his heart on his sleeve. it needed no runs nor glory notes. it just needed his voice driving the words through. he spoke through the music and the lyrics. and to those of us who got it, it was a moment so wonderful we cried along with him after.

cook is about progression. he is about contributing something new to the world of music as an artist. too bad the judges missed that. in their world, AI is the same old formula. for all their talk about originality, they couldn’t let go of the past and see something new on the horizon.

whatever happens, cook has proven his worth in this finals. he has shown the range of his voice and his talent is undeniable. last night, he showed us a new template by which we should look at singing show contestants. he has left his indelible mark on AI and i look forward to more stamps he’ll be leaving in the music world in the coming days.

Now we just have to trust that TPTB will actually count votes instead of clausing Cook and handing the win to their chosen one.

Still, topping the charts after going first on a finale night AND getting trashed on all three performances? It just proves that right now, Cook is huge. He has a massive fanbase and he appeals to casual voters, even if the judges disagree. Whatever album he puts out will outsell any other contestant’s easily.

I have been put to shame. I was able to contribute a paltry 4 votes last night. Not due to lack of trying, mind you. I tried to vote sporadically over the entire four hours. I guess the Central Time Zone was voting extra hard (we do have Missouri and OK). Hopefully the busy line means that the rest of the country was, too.

I know it has been discussed at length in this board, but just to throw my hat in the ring, I was completely baffled by the judges last night. Randy, I have consistently lost respect for week to week as he can’t shut up about that damn phone book. In the past he seemed to give somewhat valid critiques of musical performance, but his favoritism this season was disgusting. No love for Jason Castro, molten-hot orgasms over the most mediocre DA performances. Complete inconsistency, JC gets torn a new one when he bungles lyrics ONCE, DA inexplicably blanks out on multiple occasions and he playful punch on the shoulder. Aww… shucks.

What surprised me the most, however, was Simon. For all his bluster about making songs sound new and current, he seemed to really enjoy the 60’s cruise ship last night. Seriously, what was his last comment all about? I have always thought finale shows were weird for having the “repeat” performances. How anticlimactic. As far as I’m concerned, aside from this season, the best AI finale was Ruben & Clay in Season 2. What made the finale so electrifying was both contestants sang 3 new songs.

What everybody loves about DC is how unpredictable he is. He has surprised and delighted us all season. Seriously, who would have guessed “Always Be my Baby” or “Music of the Night”? It’s a silly game trying to guess what song he will pick, we just sit back every Tuesday and enjoy the ride. I was not disappointed by his choice at all. There is no way he could have topped his “Billie Jean” performance– all the stars were aligned that night. It was by far the better and bolder choice to take the road less travelled on AI and give the fans what they want, which is something new.

DC should and will win this season, because he is what AI has been lacking for 5 years. He’s fresh, he’s edgy, he’s cool, he’s sexy, and he likes pushes the boundaries. He’s not a balladier, and he doesn’t cater to the “traditional” viewer (Recent polls have indicated that the median age group for AI has risen to 30-45). No, he is just the most musically RELEVANT contestant to ever grace the stage. Let DA inspire young 12 year olds and grandmas. Meanwhile, DC will be busy racking up Grammies, MTV awards, cologne advertisements, the occasional guest appearance on a Fox sitcom, and touring with Bruce Springsteen.

I hope Cook can do some sexy shaver commercials where the pretty girls touches his cleanly shaven face and moans, yeah! and DC smiles that crooked smile (melting cookie everywhere again, oh no!). One comment suggested that winning AI will damage his rock cred??? This is the guy that got praise from Chris Cornell, and got clearance for the first.time.ever. to sing a U2 song on Idol. Pretty awesome!

I’ve been reading your posts here, and I’m glad to see that I’m not the only one who cries when DC sings! Can we all say OMG!!!!!!!! That is a true artist who can move someone to tears. There’s nothing like moving your fans to happy tears! I will always remember David Cook’s “The World I Know.” I can’t believe this beautiful gift he gave us! I listened to it last night over and over and over again. When I had to charge my phone in between, I’d listen to it again, start to cry, and then I’d pick up my partially charged phone and start superdialing again. Persistency is the only thing that works with calling on lines that are jammed. If it rings, hang up because it is a recording saying the lines are jammed. AI lines don’t ring at all. I know I got a lot of votes in for DC last night with just my cell phone!

My only thought on “The World I Know” is that it wasn’t a stereotypical AI-moment song, like Bille Jean or Hello would have been with more glory notes, etc. But, isn’t the let’s-break-the-mold thing been what has made this season so great? Seeing Brooke and Jason – two completely non-traditional-AI-contenders make the top 5, seeing the contestants show their music artistry outside their singing, seeing DCook rearrange songs to make them completely current… This has been a non-stereotypical season, which is exactly what AI NEEDS! And, they need the non-stereotypical winner (imo) Cookie Monster!

Archie sang the hell out of DLTSGDOM, and it was really cute seeing him fighting back his tears.

But Cook on ISHFWILF and The World I Know was sincere and vulnerable, and fantastic. And, yes, original. He was refreshing and wonderful. It was a lovely night for both of the contestants, but the judges blew it.

Stop making analyzing it like if it was a boxing match (yes, the theme was ridiculous), the contestants need support and praise. DC, like Paula said, stayed true to himself and that’s why he’ll be crowned THE American Idol tonight at 9:55 pm.

I read the EW article about the two Davids, and I agree with David Cook that he represents all the other contestants that was eliminated. As starting from Week 1, David Archuleta’s seat in the top 2 is already sealed. I don’t know why, but the rest of the top 24, has to re-arrange songs, cry, sing, be humiliated, all the while competing with this boy who has a team of arrangers, vocal coach, stage dad, and yet after every performance, this boy always have a staple pimp that will say “he is the one to beat and can sing the phonebook”, as he simply just do his misty doe-eyed and patented smile grin, after singing his strings of sappy ballads all thru out the competition. Squirrelly: I know! Even Randy tried to be nice to DC. I don’t know why Simon feels every finale song has to be a vocal gymnastic. I think this was one of his best performances ever! Yes, we say that every week (like last week with Your Face, and along with Billie Jean, ABMB, MOTN, Little Saprrow; and my favorite HELLO I thought this was amazing). What was beautiful about his performance was the heartfelt emotion, how different it was from everything else sung in the finales, his tears and the restrained fantastic performance. He was pushing back, showing us his soul. It was amazing.

I think that everyone assumes that since Archuleta was pimped so much last night (and though all the mishaps and flubbs this season) and coupled with the fact that Simon delcared Archie won all 3 rounds, (knockout) that Archuleta will win American Idol. David Cook looked like he was defeated and his speech pretty much said that in response to not reprising a song he’s done before he chose to show progression and do something new.

If the judges assume that that one night, from all the performances, decides the winner and the voting public will follow their lead and give Archuleta the crown tonight fine, but he might have underestimated the voters. I know a lot of people were totally pissed at how blatant they were–they might have picked up the phone and threw Cook some votes even if they had no intention of voting.

So you can say that you can’t go by Zabasearch nor by Dial Idol. That’s true for the most part but both have had more successes than not. No doubt if Archie got slammed last night but was slightly ahead of Cook in Zabasearch, and in the “green” in Dial Idol, then Archie fans would say the crown was a certaintly.

Certainly, Archie fans have revelled in the stats there as they report blow-by-blow as they are dialing where Archie stands. When the point spread is close, I can argue that fact. Now if both Davids were rated in Dial Idol 1-2 (yellow), then it’s anyone’s guess.

David Cook is rated “green” and David Archuleta is rated “red” and there is a very wide margin point spread. David Cook always had the lead, first by very little, but he continued to gain throughout the night, dipping here and there, with a high of about 12 and ended with 11.46. Sure, they don’t count text messages, but both sides “text” votes. I voted a full 4 hours and had a very difficult time voting for Cook because the lines were either jambed or busy–and it was like that to the last second.

Dial Idol has predicted the winner for 6 seasons in a row and they emphatically say Cook will win.

Now Zabasearch had Cook at a slight lead and then updated their site around 9:30 a.m. with David Cook’s bar still slightly ahead of Archie’s as of midnight last night and this morning. Now they post the banner: SHOCKER ELIMINATION.

In my mind since the judges and even Cook himself, felt that Archuleta has won–what is the shock if Cook is eliminated. Everyone expects Archie to be crowned–as they did from the very start of the competion. Sure Cook gave him a run for his money and all the judges said from the start that though they think Cook is better overall, that Archie has the tween vote and will win AI.

So, what is the shocker????

In response to #341, I think many have underestimated the power of voters. And my theory is that Simon purposefully made Cook look like he did worse. Why? Because…if Cook would’ve had a great night, all his fans would’ve voted and voted and expected him to win, which is logical. But, if Simon makes his night look so bad that he’s really in danger of not winning, then Cook’s fans freak out and vote like CUH-RAZY (crazy lol) to make sure he doesn’t go. It gives them that extra push to go the extra mile and makes sure that none of them dare give up because if they do and Cook loses, it’ll be their fault and they know it.

Don’t EVER underestimate the power of worried fans on Finale night. Ever.

With that said, I think Simon did this on purpose because Cook is his favorite. When Simon said Cook should’ve sung Billie Jean or Hello and Cook came back with his “I wanted to do something new”, Simon smiled at him and gave him a wink. Simon loves Cook. Cook will win. The end.

so, both zaba and dialidol predict a DC win, and while I should feel happy, I still have a sour taste from last night. Part of the fun for me this season was watching Simon transition from being indifferent/mildly irritated, to surprised fan, to proud fanboy. And I loved how DC shamelessly made it clear that Simon’s was the only opinion that mattered to him – right from the start with his “I got you this time, Simon” during hollywood week. The whole thing was a touching little side story of a mentor/prodigy relationship with its triumphs and setbacks and stunning comebacks. And then Simon went and gave us an unhappy ending. DC didn’t deserve that and neither did we, the viewers. Bleh.

If DC wins tonight (and I suspect he will) it will be because he played a nearly flawless game all season. He was the one to thrill us with his ever-evolving, ever- growing fantasticness. DC’s closing song last night was absolutely superb, and the fact that it was lost on Simon is disappointing – because I had faith in Simon’s ability to cut through contest bullshit and see brilliance in non-pageant, non-showy, subtle artistry.

Anyway, I’m not usually one for sappy tributes, but the way DC was treated last night brought this side of me out. I never cared one way or another if he won. In fact, I didn’t think a win would do him any good. BUT last night’s bus throwing festivities made my sense of justice bubble over, and now I want nothing more than to watch those stupid bus transfers rain all over my Cap’n Cook’s head as he lets loose with some magnificent waterworks! Thanks for the hard work and genius, Cook! See you in Toronto!!

Cook only cares what his fans what, not what AI or their judges want. He chose the new song for artistic reasons. Cook it the epitomy of a struggling artist, never satisfied and always trying to do better. AI probably shook DC to the core of his being. It brought out his humbleness and eagerness to learn and do better. He is what AI was supposed to be about, not another 17 year old kid acting like they know what they are singing about. Don’t get me wrong, I like DA and his talent. I still think he has a long way to go before I would consider buying his music. But DC is ready right now to sell some serious music, and he has fans out there just waiting for his music. DC’s world is just waiting for him, and the only thing AI did is let us know that there is a David Cook out there.

AI will never see another AI contestant on the same caliber as David Cook. They will miss him, but it will be too late. They should have treated him better when they had a chance. I’m still hurt over the way DC was treated last night, so you’ll have to excuse me here…

I can honestly say I don’t think there is another David Cook out there. I’m so glad I found him, no matter whether it was AI or another show. I’m so disappointed in AI this year, but David Cook is definitely the BEST IDOL that EVER came out of that show! EVER!

He was showy last night (U2 song), he rocked out a song (Dream Big) and he showed he is a true artist (The World I Know).

He was subtle, honest, sensitive, sincere, and true to himself.

I know David Cook is probably not the kind of guy to harbour bad feelings, but I wonder if he would hold back at all because of the way he was despicably treated last night…

I know that Simon has mentioned in previous idol shows that he does use reverse psychology, so it is VERY possible that he knew DC fans would be more motivated to vote if they thought there was a chance their DC might not get his well-deserved AI crown. And I’ve heard people saying that Simon said on two different shows today that he still wants DC to win, so I’m guessing that is what Simon was up to last night! It looked like it broke David Cook’s heart, though. And nothing is worth that!!! I love DC sooooooo much!

What I was trying to say, is maybe DC might hold back on helping AI out later because of the way they through him under the bus, tried to sacrifice him to give their 17 year old child the crown. I hope AI doesn’t cheat to give DA that crown. I didn’t stay up 4 hours voting for nothing!

Hi, All –
I’ve been posting on a couple other threads and thinking, where is everyone?!
I voted a bunch last night and hope it ends with a DC win but won’t complain too much if DA wins. It is afterall something that has been born and bred inside him since a very early age – whether he wanted or not. Don’t get me started on THAT aspect of this season.

I posted this in another thread:
“I am over the actual show. Because it is just a show.
I don’t care if Randy wants to unzip DA and crawl inside him or if Paula’s doctors finally got her medication correct so that her usage of verbs and nouns are accurate more than 50% of the time, or that Simon has flipped his pandering and pimping for some diabolical reverse-psychological purpose.
As for the future of the show and me? Who knows? If I happen to get sucked into the audition cycle vortex next fall, then so be it. I’m not ruling it out but I am not depending on the show to produce any other artists like DC. That said, I will be continually grateful to AI for introducing me to David Cook. I am now invested in watching and enjoying the creative process of him as an artist and (hopefully) not some smaltzy pop icon.”

hesiilou – yeah, I’m not stepping to anywhere with Archies today. I am firmly optimistic that David Cook will win AI, and I don’t need my mood to be completely destroyed. I also don’t need to read people simply parroting what Simon said last night, especially as these are the same people who, just last week, accused him of being the most biased judge ever.

Never coming back to this show. David Cook sucked me in this year DESPITE everything AI tried to do to turn me off. Without him, I can’t imagine sitting through yet another season of the judges and TPTB beating the soul out of the contestants in order to produce the perfect karaoke machine. And no, I’m not just talking about the way they treated Cook last night; my final straw was watching the spirit dwindle out of Jason’s eyes week after week, and seeing Carly struggle so desperately trying to please the judges when she never had a fair chance to begin with. Actually, now that I think about it, everything started with Michael John’s elimination and the incredibly disgusting way Ryan handled it.

David. Cook. Must. Win. For the sake of restoring some shred of legitimacy to AI, for proving to America that originality and artistry trumps playing the game every time, and most of all, for approaching the show as himself, not as a contestant. DialIdol, you are my god and I’m putting all of my faith in you. Bring it home, baby!

To everyone else – don’t neglect to read post # 346. I think it perfectly sums up the evening for me…and for so many DC fans. I’ve been an Idol viewer since Season 2 and I’ve never felt this level of frustration. Suffering through all the absurdities of this show, that’s saying a lot.

I’ll be eating left over pork chops, corn, and cookies tonight and praying for a DC win. We all know that he DESERVES to win. Nothing against Archie, of course, but DC was the one who stayed true to who HE was all season and didn’t just sing songs that his “handlers” knew would please the audience.

Win or “lose,” he’s MY American Idol. And I can’t wait to hear his songs on the radio, buy his album, and see him on tour.

And for that reason alone, I was with him since his “back-talking” to Simon at the beginning of the season (hey – he kind of came full circle on that one.)
His career will be amazing and I can’t wait for the next chapter.

All other factors aside (re: the other 350+ comments above), I simply don’t want Jeff Archuleta to win. And, no, that is not a typo.

Demi, at the risk of further alienating the Archie fans by coming onto a Cookie thread and talking to YOU (you little she-devil, you! ), I would like to tell you what a class act your Cookie is, and how much it warms my heart to see the relationship that has developed between him and Archie. If only the fans could take a page out of their book. I’m still calm about tonight and I wish you were, too. I know how much you love your guy, so I want to thank you again for the nice things you have said about Archie. I never really said much about Cookie, believing that the best thing I could do for Archie was to be nice to the Cookie fans. It’s interesting that some of the Archies now believe I am a Cookie and would like to see me banished from their “house of worship”. Oh well. This isn’t the worst thing that has ever happened to me. Keep the faith, dear Demi. It’s all going to be okay.

I watched DC’s performances again with the judges critiques. After TWIK, why did Randy say “this is the kind of song you could make and ‘get by’ with”????? He more than gets by with any song he does.

I’m trying to hold on to my anger so I won’t get so nervous tonight.

Btw, my 17 year old son walked in as I’m listening to DC and reading about last night. After he heard what the judges said, he told me, “It doesn’t matter what happens tonight, he’s gonna be HUGE.” I LOVE my son!!!

And yes, I realize that I am being irrationally angry right now and that I should not invest so much of myself into a TV show. But last night – man, Simon is an evil genius if his intent was to get Cook’s fanbase riled up, because I wasn’t even planning on voting, but I wound up redialing for four straight hours. I can’t dislike Archuleta because his performances were honestly the best he’s been all season and he really is a genuinely sweet kid. I just found it appalling that Simon chose to critique Cook for being a non-traditional AI contestant – not choosing a sappy ballad for his coronation song, not reprising one of his previous ‘moments’ – because I’ve always thought that that was what made Cook so phenomenal. And I’m STILL outraged that AI can’t evolve and embrace change, but that’s probably just me. Whatever happens in the finale will happen – both Davids have proven that they deserve the crown. I just wish that Cook didn’t have to be sandbagged mercilessly last night to get to this point.

Also, ‘house of worship’? Seriously? Gag me. Since when did being an Archie fan become more exclusive than a cult religion? Or has it turned into one already?

My stomach is flipping and flopping out of nerves and fear. My heart and head say David Cook but with AI.. you never know.

To #328 DJ RYCE: Yours was a beautiful post and I am so grateful to you for sharing it here. Stunning. I agree with everything you said. As a big Bruce Springsteen fan, you cannot imagine how right you are. Cook is cut from the SAME cloth. I never say that so… Consider it the highest compliment of all. David Cook is walking in Bruce’s path. Now it all makes MORE sense why I love Cook as much as I do. He makes me feel. Think. And live the lyrics. Just like Bruce.

You guys are all so amazing here. Even the Archuleta fans who come here are kind. Thank you for that. I can’t stand the word “haters” and it makes me feel 90 years old when I see that slap in the face line used on Rickey.

In the end, we have magic in David Cook.

Yeah, go David Cook!!! I do agree with Rickey that Cookey seemed to be holding back just a little last night, but still–awesome performances! He has a much more contemporary sound than Archuleta, and will sell TONS more albums.

Archie did good, too. But I hate, hate that the producers chose Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me for him to sing. I agree with meddie’s post. Archie’s version didn’t even TOUCH Clay Aiken’s jaw-dropping performance of that song in AI2. You just shouldn’t sing a song that an Idol alum has blown out of the water. I felt like the producers were pimping Archie as being as good as Clay, which he ain’t! He’s good, but not THAT good!

Anyways, back to Cook. I’m glad he didn’t sing a previously sung song, even though I’d love to hear Always Be My Baby or Billie Jean, or even Eleanor Rigby again! It bothers me when they do that on the finale, because you’ve already SEEN them sing that song (whatever it may be). Like Cook said, the show is about progression. They’re not superstars yet who can bring out their greatest hits. LOL

Everyone I’ve talked to today and last night thinks Cook will win. But I think the teeny-boppers may sway the vote with their bazillions of phone calls for Archie. I was only able to vote for about 30 mins. for Cook, and I didn’t have any trouble getting through. That was about 1 hour into the voting.

Who knows??? This will definitely be the closest Idol finale since Studdard vs. Aiken!! Whichever David wins, I’ll be happy. I don’t really care for Archie’s style that much, but he’s worked hard, has a good voice, and would deserve the crown as much as Cook. Either way, they’ll both have great careers in the bag!!

Demi, I don’t take the “house of worship” comment all that seriously. It’s just hyperbole, and there’s nothing wrong with that, I suppose. What bothers me more is the fact that some of the fans seem more interested in gaining a following of their own, even trying to upstage Rickey! I honestly haven’t paid that much attention to the names under the posts I read, so I take all comments as if they were from a neutral source, responding to Cookies and Archies alike. Only a few names have really stood out for me anyway—the articulate voices, such as your own, and the really hateful voices, such as. . . well, I won’t say. I came here to find out the latest news on my favorite contestant, not to get involved in the lives of others—not that I begrudge any of them the opportunity to form friendships here.

Anyway, I didn’t post all weekend, and that’s why I was so surprised to come back and find out that I was now a persona non grata. Maybe I always was. I find this highly amusing, and it is honestly going to help with the results tonight, if they are not in my favor. Isn’t this ALL just a game, after all?

This comment might be late but I just watched his performance in Youtube and I like all of his performance. The judges are not fair to him particularly Simon.

I was touched when he cried on his 3rd song. I think choosing a song he never sang before shows that he is not afraid to take risk even if the stake is the A.I. crown. His vision is way beyond this contest and that is a true sign of a great artist.

Bravo David Cook. No matter what happens I’m sure you will do GREAT!! The sell in itunes already proven it.
