the top 3 has equal footing, the syesha-has-no-fans subplot is just a ploy, nothing is what it seems!
archuleta may have the teenie/grannie fan base
cook the pop/rocker mainstream converts

Just to be clear though, Ryan didn’t mean that the top 3 are within 1 million votes. He meant that there’s one million vote separate EACH of the top 3.

So the top 3 were within TWO million votes.

I think what we should be focusing on is that David A. is in the top3, and will have a chance to go home this week and see how much he is appreciated. I can only imagine how elated David will be on Friday.
We can speculate and analyze all we want, and heck it will not affect whats going to happen next Tuesday. We can only vote and take this week by week.
So enjoy the week, coz im definitely be looking for some scoops on Davids homecoming. Then next week, we get ready to bring David to the finale.

David Cook got a boost in votes because his fanbase was fearing a Daughtry!shock!boot. He will most likely get an even larger boost this week because many of Jason’s fans list Cook as their second favorite. Still, the fact that he was mediocre and went first SHOULD have significantly reduced his vote total . . . but it didn’t.
Syesha got a boost in votes because she cried and referenced the civil rights movement, and also because she’s the last female left. I guess we know who all the Brooke fans are flocking to now. Still, the fact that she’s been in the bottom two more often than any other contestant in the history of AI combined with her lack of a rabid fanbase SHOULD have significantly reduced her vote total . . . but it didn’t.
Archie SHOULD have gotten a boost in votes because he was the best of the night AND he had the pimp spot . . . but he didn’t. The combination of the casual votes as well as his rabid fanbase SHOULD have shot him to the top and increased his lead against the other contestants by a mile . . . but it didn’t. In fact, DialIdol has David Cook leading all three charts! I would not be surprised if Cook was the top vote-getter tonight.
At this rate, if Syesha delivers/cries and Cook steps it up again on Final Three night, Archie’s chances of being shock!booted is pretty high.
YOU GUYS. I DON’T WANT A SYESHA/DAVID X FINALE. IF SYESHA MAKES IT TO THE NOKIA, I MAY HAVE TO KILL SOMETHING. VOTE!

Archuleta is losing steam after 2 amazing performances for his fan-base, or did it irritate more of the people that don’t like his musical style, so he didn’t have that glorious push for the sure win?
I think most of the other supporters of Brooke/Jason/Carly is moving to David Cook as they are all pop rock music lovers, Archuleta’s musical style is very limited, so it’s a good thing he has a rabid gigantic fan base.

Did anyone notice that one of the “call in” questions from tonight was displayed last Wednesday, but not asked? It was the one from Pittsburgh who wanted a date with Cook during the Idol tour on her birthday.
Also, (forgive me if this was already brought up – but I may have missed some postings): Displayed last Wednesday, but not asked was this question from Adam (13 yrs old) from Gastonia NC:
For David Archuleta:
How hard is it to be away from your girlfriend in North Carolina?
What do you make of that? Was it planted there in view intentionally? …and not asked so that David couldn’t respond?
Most times it seems as though those on the set can’t actually see the questions that appear to be displayed on the set. Other times they seem to acknowledge the “screen” they are on.

th118, she’s basing that on the fact that only a million votes each separated each of the top 3. Since Archie blew everyone away, the gap should have been much larger, but it wasn’t.
archieangel on May 7, 2008 at 11:57 pm
48
heavyblow #27 that is exactly the way I heard it too, so David could have been 2 million more than either DC or SM (although that is still too close for comfort!).
But bottom line is I think this week Syesha got mostly casual votes and sympathy votes, she was pandering her acting skills, with the whole civil rights movement and the tears, and Paula’s ridiculous standing ovation blah blah blah…if not for all that hoopla, she would not have done so well.
Don’t forget how many times Syesha has been in bottom 3, she does NOT have a big fanbase.
Next week AI will throw her under the bus, just wait and see, they want a David/David finale, any thing else would be a ratings disaster!
DA for the win!

Let’s not panic. I’m the only one who should panic. (LOL) I will panic on your behalf. I’m used to this.
Just vote. This “casual voter” theory is beyond our control, and it’s just going to worry us needlessly.
Again, vote thousands of times for the next 2 weeks. Organize a “voting party” in your home, stuff like that — to make it more fun. That’s the best way to reel in a “casual voter” — your friends, neighbors and relatives.
Maybe im just so psyched about the homecoming, and we may get the chance to know which song he will actually sing this week (Judges choice).
Next week and the week after will take care of itself. But this week, its just party time!

By Ryan telling us that the top 3 were all within a million of each other, they are setting up a neck in neck race for next week’s show ratings, its called entertainment.
How much stock I would actually put in that….well, I don’t know, but I wouldn’t put it past them to fudge the truth a little to build excitement….just like we are buying into right now.

Yes, Shelly. I am a Cook fan on an Archie thread, therefore I must be a troll…even though I just encouraged all of the Archie fans to vote harder. Clearly, I am utilizing some bizarre form of reverse psychology to ultimately guarantee Cook the win. I am just that cunning. Fear me and my radically diabolical plans. For my next trick, I will make Ryan Seacrest disappear and replace him with a puppet.
And zabasearch.com is a fraud. They change their predictions after the results show to make their site seem more accurate. They never showed MJohns or Carly in danger of being voted off the night of their last performances, yet the next night, the chart had changed to show that zabasearch was correct all along. The fact that the site doesn’t actually say how they figure out their predictions should tell you everything.

DONT SWEAT THE INSIGNIFICANT STUFF…and by that I meant all the negativity in the guise of constructive opinion or criticism…IGNORE THEM lest you suffer anxiety, anger, depression, unnecessary stress and hatred…these may lead to a stroke or heart attack..those people who spouse negativity are not worth any of your attention. Why dwell on difference on votes too? who knows the exact numbers? who knows really if Idol gives out accurate data or information? One thing I know for sure because the site itself says so in their Q&A…Dialidol is not an accurate gauge of voting because it only involves votes called in using their own software and text votes are not included…werent they also inaccurate in certain weeks? So all you have to rely on are 3 things…1. yourself…2. your vote and 3. your vote. IGNORE THE HATERS…THEY THRIVE ON ATTENTION…..

Nice Idol tonight except for cutting off Jason’s exit number – I thought that was poor planning and unfair to him. I was real happy they made Archie safe early on and didn’t torture him or us at all.
Is next week a theme week? Or can the Idols try to pick whatever they want?
I know what I would love to hear Love Nugget sing a new arrangement of – And I’m Telling You, I’m Not Going – with his current style and range instead of the growly way he did it on Star Search.
Syesha picked up a lot of casual fans last night because of the crying (her’s and Paula’s), two good performances, her struggles, civil rights movement, only girl left, etc.
IMO, her crying and the judge’s sympathy overshadowed Archie’s best-of-the-night performances. It left more of an impact on casual viewers. Also, it’s a natural tendancy to root for the underdog and not the front runner. Therefore, they voted for her, instead of Archie.
If the David/David finale is a go, I think Archie will pick up some of Syesha’s fans who are still voting. They both have the R&B vibe, soul, and powerful voices.
Plus, I have a feeling Archie’s hometown visit will be the largest and inspire the most non-voters to vote.
All we can do is vote, vote, vote. I’m a glass half empty type of gal, but Archie has inspired me to be an optimist for the first time in my life. I hope he inspires his fans to stay positive too

from dialdiol, i think di was 100 accurate when predicting the winner of AI:
Did you notice at the beginning of the show (right about when Jason yawned) Ryan noted that three of the four remaining contestants had finished number one in voting at least once during the season? I’m sure we can all agree that the Davids finished number one more than once or twice which leaves us to wonder whether Syesha or Jason was the other to finish first? If you ask me this just lends further proof that perhaps DialIdol was dead on accurate last week with Syesha getting the most votes! (You may think she was in the bottom two but in reality they never, ever said so!) Sure there were a few weeks that Jason did well on DialIdol – but I have a hard time believing he did better than David Archuleta during those weeks when David Archuleta’s strength was more dominant than it is now.

CONGRATULATIONS EVERYONE! You’ve saved David A this week. Back to reality. DA is not out of the woods yet. As Rickey said, we have to stop worrying and vote and get as many people as we can to vote for DA. This is the area where we have control. The second area, the song choice, we can only suggest. The third and fourth areas, we can exercise some influence. Third is attacks against DA by reviewers and jounalists. Although I consider them “alleged” reviewers/journalists, they are out there with readership following. Bad publicity against DA must be answered and neutralized. If not, it will stick because the tendency is to remember negative publicity that
can move undecided voters to vote for somebody else instead of for DA. Some of us had responded to these attacks. Fourth is TPTB. We can influence their decision by telling them about us.
TPTB decision is crucial in choosing the winner of AI, specially when the votes are close like what it indicates now.
It is late. Tomorrow, I’ll post my letter to the head honcho of FremantleMedia, the owner of AI and 249 other shows including the Price is Right, copy furnished all the executive producers.

David A is destined for superstardom (Paula). His singing is amazing (Simon). Hot, hot, hot (Randy). The mentors called him a prodigy (Webber), and destined to be a great, great singer (Dolly Parten). With such accolades, David is looking to a wonderful musical career now, where many doors will open to him whether he wins AI or not (and we sure hope he does!). But let’s focus on the right road, ie that the long and winding road of Idol will lead David A to the career he so richly deserves so he can continue to inspire his fans for many years to come. AI, win or lose, let’s concentrate on what’s really important–that David A will be blessed to pursue the mission he yearns to fulfill. To speak to our hearts through the music he sings for many years to come.
Go David!!

David sang Crazy with piano by Gnarls Barkley in his Hollywood audition and Simon called it “incredible performance “ ( according to AI ) but for some reason they couldn’t broadcast it , this is the part of interview with Nigel:
“If it did (cause a disadvantage), I wouldn’t sit at the piano. Would you? What we always do on this program is give them the choice. That’s all we can do. And anyway some of them probably can’t play anyway. It’s just allowing someone to show the complete range of their talent. Australia did it and it worked really well for them. We did it, as you know, during Hollywood week and some people crashed and burned and some did OK. I think Brooke sitting there and singing her little song was quite lovely. David Archuleta sang Crazy, which we couldn’t show because we couldn’t play the song, but again, it was something that was really good.
You can read the complete interview here:
I’m thinking they may choose “ Crazy” for David as the Producers’ Choice. Just guessing
Go Crusher !!!

Rickey,
IF you have the time, can you give us the HD widescreen performances of David last Tuesday? (Just like what you did in Angels and SMM). We would really appreciate it!

Really?
Guys, do you think the AI team or TPTB will consider if we urged them to let Archu sing CRAZY for next week?

WOW!
Im a fan of David Archuleta. I couldnt be more happier with the top 3 right now…
…BUT some of you hardcore David A. fans scare me.
SO what she(Syesha) brought up the civil rights movement..Im black and I could careless that she did …but what I did care bout mostly is her performance…It touched me emotionally. Her vocals were insane. Take it easy on the bashing..YOure saying she brought up the civil rights movement to get votes..are you serious people?..Its just a reality competition show..Its not that serious.
David C. vs. Syesha top 2 all the way. David Archuleta is coo in my book..but I think he has some growing to do still (performing wise) Pefect his craft a little more on the performing side. I dont know really..he just comes off a little funny …I love that he actually picks his songs with some thought behind the decision…I know its going to be David C. and David A though in the final.
Its you David A. fans who make supporters of David C. and SYesha stronger..you guys are crazy.

Hello Everyone. Good morning. Here’s the letter I explained in my #98 above:
“May 6, 2008
Ms. Cecile Frot-Coutaz
Chief Executive Officer
FremantleMedia North America, Inc.
4000 West Alameda Avenue
Burbank, CA 91055
Dear Ms. Frot-Coutaz:
The fans of David Archuleta (DA)have been portrayed as tweens or teen girls, their mothers
and grandmothers. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being a young woman, woman or being in any of these milestones in life. But to call them fickle, rabid or any other derogatory name is unfair. These attackers must realize that many of them, if not all, may be branding their own daughters, sisters, mothers or grandmothers. Why is it that some people find it easy to diminish and demean women? I can’t understand this at all. We were taught to respect women at any age.
In the interest of fair play, this misinformation must be corrected. Please allow me to introduce to you the Fans of David Archuleta. They come from all walks of life, males and females, young and old with different levels of education (junior high, high school, high school graduates preparing for colege, college graduates, master’s and Ph’D’s). They are international in scope: from North America, Central America, South America, Europe and Asia. The have a formidable purchasing power that will be a very lucrative market for your company.
There are a few but powerful reasons why many people with different backgrounds are drawn to DA.
He is talented, humble and a compassionate human being. The youth can look up to him and be encouraged to emulate him. The older folks believe that DA is a good role model for the youth. They don’t want the youth to relate to those entertainers who use drugs and get in trouble with the law. Sure, these trouble makers may attract attention, but it is short-lived. Eventually, the bad publicity destroys their careers. No business can rely on them for the return of their investments.
And equally important, DA soothes the nerves when he sings. He makes people feel good and inspired. His following will continue to grow larger because of all these.
Sincerely,
(Sgd) NOEL
cc: American Idol Executive Producers:
Simon Fuller, Nigel Lythgoe, Ken Warwick.”
Please write to them also. Thanks.

#106..mechanic,
yes, i love it when they pick a song.. i just hope it’s not a really boring, bland song. Sometimes they do that. I’m hoping they all collaborate to pick the song together. I’m thinking that’s what they do, and then one of them announces which song they want them to sing.
What are the other 2 they sing again? I completely forgot. Years ago, clive davis picked a song, right? And then the 3rd song.. it is their pick.. their fave from the season or any song?
what about finale night??? song that won, plus which songs???

Cheer up you guyz! you’re all making me feel quite disheartened with all these murky comments.
Where did the happiness go from yesterday? *sigh*
Please do not anticipate a problem, or worry about what may never happen. David Archuleta will win this thing, fair & square! And please do Keep in the sunlight!& stop worrying about the potholes in the road and lets celebrate the journey instead! All we can do is VOTE VOTE VOTE on the thousand range! No more split voting or slacking. Jasons fanbase are going to be split 50/50 with ARCHIE & COOK. Syesha will most likely go to archie since they both have that “diva” thing going on. The difference between the votes are not that huge whereas, Archie and his “love me tender” killed his fan base. Were all grasping for air when he sang that… need i say more? BRING BACK IMAGINE!!!
Archie’s in the top 3!!! woooo!
Is Dr. ODD going to Utah this friday? i thought i saw that in fanblast.
Where there’s david archuleta there’s H.O.P.E!!!

I don’t believe for a minute that the votes were that close. Ryan was instructed to say that by producers to create excitement and tension, cause most people would assume what the final would be and not bother tuning in next week. This is all manipulation folks. The Idol PTB know what they’re doing.
How many people would tune in to a finale without both Davids? Would ANYONE truthfully think Syesha would beat Cook?

The fact is that if DA is not in the finals I am simply turning off the tv. Yes, then David Cook who is great will win. But if DA is not in the finals than I don’t need to watch or vote. I’ll just see whatever I want on youtube.

David A looks like a prince (a Hispanic prince) in those pictures. Haha…So cute, so young and innocent!

Biggest joke ever: Archie looking fierce. Gimme a break.
He only looks in his element when he’s singing a sappy ballad or awaiting the second coming of Joseph Smith.
