hmm… i’m a HUGE jason fan, and i love him to death… but i dunno.. i’m very disappointed tonight. he just looked too laidback, and i kinda agree with the judges, like he’s not even trying hard at all. i want him to stay, but he can’t perform like this again next week…gotta step it up a little, please jason???

Screw this. I thought both songs were boring, but Jason is getting half of my votes tonight just for coming out on stage for his second performance. NOBODY deserves to sing after knowing what the reaction will already be. Paula, you fail and I hope you get fired, because that was seriously a rotten thing to do to a kid.

I liked Jason´s second song a lot.

First one was Ok, buteasy to forget.

I did´nt see the video, only audio and don´t know judges comments.

I think best in first round was Syesha.

jason could have done great and they would have said bad stuff about him , jason is like the anti idol , he doesn’t have a big voice like a diva , it seems like there trying to cram seysha at us and try to get more votes for her , and give jason bad comments to try to get ppl to not vote for him. im not surprised this show is rigged its probally been rigged this whole time , when they did accually let the votes count sanjaya was geting threw each week , i think they rerigged the show after sanjaya was voted off. there probally just looking for an opening to kick jason off with out making it looked rigged.

Jason is by far the classiest contestant to ever grace the stage of American Idol. Way to go for showing poise and maturity in a pretty incriminating and disappointing situation.

He took the completely invalid criticism like a grown-up, not to mention he proceeded to sing the pants off the second song. Bravo.

Regardless of the results tomorrow, he can hold his head up high. He is a gentleman with an impressive internal locus of control, and if left to his own devices, he’ll have a bright future ahead of him.

Jason is the least experienced of the top 5, and it shows. He has a natural talent that requires more developement. My guess is he picked the songs based on listening to studio recordings. If he listened to one of ND’s live albums from the 80-90’s, he would have heard how much fun “Forever I Blue Jeans” is live. He picked the right song for him, but missed the best way to sing it.

man what a bummer. i think tonight’s show was Weak all around. jason didn’t do much with the songs tonight. i bet the studio versions will sound better. i don’t know. he could easily go tomorrow but i hopefully he has a big enough fan base to bail him out. i was looking forward to FIBJ more, but i think the second song was better.

Whatever the outcome is, I hope Jason continues to pursue music. He still has a lot of learning to do and potential to get better. He is only 21 years old so he has that time to continue to grow. I will be looking forward to his CD. I love his style of music and he also seems like such a sweet guy. I feel bad that if it is his time tomorrow, he will go out on such a sour note. Seriously Paula, that was messed up.

I listened to the audio of Jason’s songs and liked them both, especially “Sept. Morn”. What is going on? Note to Nigel Lithgoe: Rigging a show should be subtle! But I guess they don’t care that the public is on to them. I’m done with AI. No wonder they’re losing viewers. They’ve lost me, but I’m not going quietly. I say we organize an e-mail effort complaining about how they show is rigged. How about the FCC, can’t we get them involved??? I’m so irate!

That was awful tonight how could Jason give a really good performance after hearing Paula rudely critisizeing him when she never even heard him sing his 2nd song. Even my husband who normally hates Idol said that Jason did a good job singing “Forever In Blue Jeans” He didn’t see the part where Paula did her slam job at Jason because he went upstairs before all the hoopla started. I bet Jason would’ve given a better performance not knowing before hand just how terrible he was going to sing in Paula’s eyes at least.

I did vote for almost the full two hours. I got through almost every time. I hope Jason isn’t going home tomorrow because it isn’t fair. Maybe Jason was still a little run down from being sick last week but he sure looked cute and had that beautiful sparkle back in his gorgeous eyes.

I still don’t get the “rigged” thing.

The show would be rigged only if the voters weren’t really counted.

If Paula said that Jason Castro was leaving, before he performed his 2nd song – then we’d know that AI was a “Mili Vanili” thing.

Confused? Yes – that’s Paula Abdul. On “medication”? Probably (legal or otherwise). But few voters really heed Paula anyway – so it’s kind of a moot point.

I just listened to September Morn again, and really I thought it was great, he did kinda loose it around 1:32, but up until then it was really good! All of this trainwreck business is just silly and ridiculous. He was not tonight, nor has he EVER been a trainwreck! Oh, and FIBJ was really good, a boring song, but he did great! Paula, just ….Ugh, I have no words for her, right now.

Ugh! I should not look at the East Coast spoilers since it ruins it for me, especially if my favorite gets run over by the TPTB bus upteen million times. I get too pissed and can’t listen to the sweet music properly.

I’m still mad, but Jason really was my favorite of the night. DC sounded great, but I couldn’t connect with the songs. I liked Brooke’s 2nd song. DA was ok and Syesha acted her performance again and was pretty good on the 2nd one.

Jason could have done better on the 2nd one, but he choked and threw up in his mouth a little, right before he had to sing? Thanks to Paula’s negative comments before she actually heard the 2nd song?

I voted and am crossing my fingers that Rickey is right and Brooke is going home. Jason deserves to stay! And his fans fought for him tonight!

i can see a big drop off in viewers if jason leaves the show , he is one of the higher selling idols left , if some one like seyesha keeps going on each week she is the least selling idol contestant. i think if she won she would make taylors and blakes record sales look good.

I just watched the video of FIBJ and Jason really did a good job. His vocals were a little louder than usual. His 2nd song would’ve been better if Paula didn’t harp at Jason saying how bad his unseen 2nd song was. I’m sure that made him lose a lot of confidence in himself.

I think Jason will be safe – if for no other reason than people being ticked about the scripted criticism (written, I assume, after dress rehearsals). I enjoyed “Forever in Blue Jeans”, although I’m not familiar with the song. I really like Jason a lot and think, as someone else said, he is unpolished on stage (relative to others with more experience), but he still has amazing talent.

He’s the what you see what you get kinda musician and thats what he has shown us from day one in which we all loove. I liked the first song and the second one wasnt as bad as the judges made it sound to be. Yes there were some off moments, I blame Paula for that, lol.

I actually would be super surprised if the TPTB decides to keep Jason for another week. I guess we’ll see tomorrow. I somehow think its better for him to be voted off now.

Speaking of Slezak from EW who lately has been loving Jason, this is what he says about last night (which is exactly how I feel!):

“I don’t for one second buy the explanation given by Paula herself, that she was momentarily confused and was reading her notes for David Cook; if that was the case, how come she changed course, seconds later, and told Cook he was ”fantastic”? And I find it hard to believe Paula’s flub was simply the result of her boarding the La-La Express; her critique of Jason’s performance was far too specific. (Note the use of ”charm,” a noun attributed to the Dreadlocked Dude all season.)”

Poor JC is screwed. I voted for a full hour last night and got in hundreds of votes without one busy signal. I never got one. I got through every time until 11:00 when the lines closed. The night Constantine got eliminated I had a hard time getting through, at least a few busy signals. Last night, not one. Did I already say I didn’t get one busy signal?

One the other side of that. I have a hard time embracing a conspiracy theory when he didn’t actually look like he wanted to be there. It didn’t help that September Morn had that shmaltzy, veryspecialABCtelevisionevent arrangement, but in the words of Tim Gunn, “I can’t care more than you do.” I can’t care more than you do, Jason. No I can’t. Sigh. Not one busy signal.

i used to like jason a lot, but these last weeks.. i dont know. maybe its because they are making him sing songs that he doesnt know about or like.. i really dont think its his thing.

im also getting very annoyed by the end of his songs! he repeats the last words and sing them in a “dieing” way. i dont know. i cant explain, but he has been doing this a few times now. just end it in a different way, please! and let him pick better songs! songs that suit him. otherwise, just let him go and make his own record.

Looks like the West Coast voters helped JC out a little, according to dialidol. He was dead last when I checked at 8 pm PST, and now they have Brooke last. She’s another one who’s lost steam. I started out loving her, but she’s been looking so nervous that she makes me a nervous wreck.

How cool was The Cap’n last night? Here’s the thing: is he getting more help on his arrangements, or is that all him? Every week he comes out with something totally cool and he’s so polished. Each week is like a David Cook concert.
JC either got very bad advice for last night, or no help at all.

JC is still my fave, a few weeks aren’t going to change that. Hell, I loved Memory! The only good thing about him going home this week is that we have the ubergoofy interview to look forward to on AI Extra tomorrow night!

I was wondering if Jason felt defeated with all the negative critiques from the judges and TPTB doing everything in their power to get rid of him. It really bothers me to think of him being sad and down on himself.

“Luckily, I saw this in IDF from the Castro Friend who convinces me that he is okay and ready to fight if he doesn’t get voted off!

Jason is SOOOOOO humbled and grateful for everyone’s support. He wants to do his best every week. Yes, he wants to continue on the show, as he is not a quiter and it almost has motivated him to “show them” next week if he makes it through tonight. I think we can ALL agree that TPTB are confused what to do with Jason. He does not compromise on what he feels is right FOR HIM. You know, it’s interesting that the Friend wrote “He does not compromise on what he feels is right FOR HIM. He wont be led, the way that they can lead IdolBot and he isn’t the big rocker voice like Cook…”

because that’s what I feel like saying to the judges and the critics that complain about the way he sings. He hasn’t changed his style the whole season and his fans know it works for him (and for us).

We know that the judges love that big glory ending note and maybe we are interjecting that need to him because we want Jason to just show them that he can do it, and when he doesn’t, we get disappointed too(?).

Loved his Forever in Blue Jeans. I’ve listened to it at least 20 times today. I voted for two hours solid last night as well. I think he’ll be ok for this week. I see him in the top 3 at least. I’d like to see David Cook and Jason in the finals. Although he needs to pull off something original and confident for next week. I’d so rather see Jason stay then Syesha even if she sings well. She is not an original artist she’s just another in the long line of the parade of Whitneys. It looks like Simon is really pullling for her though…no surprise she is the exact and only type of singer he likes anyway.

The problem with Jason isn’t his talent..he has tons of that. It is the venue, so calling him the anti-Idol is perfect. He has a wonderful, soothing, folksy kind of voice and that is him. He shouldn’t try to be anyone else. Apparently the judges liked that when they let him through auditions and then Hollywood, but they don’t think it will sell and they didn’t expect him to last this long. But we, the voting public, fooled them. The biggest sellers from AI have been pop and country (Kelly and Carrie, so they go after the pop idol look, ie Archuleta, but they should take a lesson from Clay Aiken and Daughtry, which is why they should be pushing Cook (which they are to some extent, because Daughtry was a big embarrassment) and Jason. We don’t need another pop singer…I doubt Jordan Sparks will last..or another Whitney type–Fantasia is big on broadway and within her own narrow niche and that is it. Syesha would be forgettable just like Kat McPhee. As for Taylor Hicks, well, what is there to say? We all know Daughtry was the winner and I still wonder on that one. No anwer to that weird result. My point is that the judges and TPTB want to interject their own desires over that of the American public and I don’t doubt that it is rigged on some level to do that. Simon was trying to dredge up votes for Syesha last night, because he wants Jason and Brooke gone. I hope we get the last laugh.

I really hope that Jason isn’t leaving tonight. I voted for about 1 and a half hours and got through almost the full time. Jason’s performance of FIBJ was actually pretty good and his 2nd song SM would’ve probably been a lot better if Paula hadn’t told him how bad his song was right before he had to sing it. I’m sure Jason lost some confidence and it showed on stage. Jason really has a beautiful voice and we’ve seen some amazing performances from him. Lets all hope that Jason gets to show us his heartfelt true talent next week.

I don’t how they could have screwed up jason. I’m loving both songs…they help sooth away the tension I felt after taking my biochem exam. I dunno but listening to jason always puts a smile on my lips. It’s like magic…hahah
