It was ok. I expected much more for DA this week. Looking at the line-up of mentors, I picked DA in the Final 12 pool and expected this to be the week he cemented the win. Now I’m not so sure. Simon was right,it was his weakest performance thus far. What makes it worse is this was the first week he made a major effort to put a unique spin on a song.

David Archuleta’s version of “Think of Me” is brilliant, even if his performance was a little tentative because of Sir Andrew’s totally off-base advice about keeping his eyes open. Pop & rock singers close their eyes and get lost in the song all the time! That’s what we love to see! So once again, as with Mariah last week, David was sweetly deferential to his mentor’s advice, but I hope he ignores that advice henceforth. And the groove that David added to that song made it the most original performance of the night! Paula is right: perfect!

I didn’t even notice the flub so Pork Chop is becoming a pro. I love that about him. DC got the pimp spot AGAIN and of course he picks a great song. Someone get a memo to our Pork Chop and tell him to pick BETTER SONG CHOICES PLEASE! Who is picking his songs? He needs to pick songs that he can showcase his talent and like Simon said, something memorable. I love baby D but he has been having problems with song choices. The mass audience can’t relate to something that they aren’t familiar with and I am not that happy with the arrangement. I would of preferred the original. Why change something that Lord Weber has perfected already? I am and Archie fan and I am voting for him, it was just ok for me. I am sorry Angels, I love ya. I wish Pork Chop would of sung “Memories”, that would of been another “Imagine” for him. Why didn’t he do it, or something more powerful. Darn it! Oh well, next week, lets hope. It seems like a set up for a Cookie win. I am so upset about this and the whole dialidol thing isn’t helping right now. Oh well….

i liked the fact that he took the risk of doing a boy-band version of “think of me,” but compared to the high awareness that goes along with “jesus christ superstar” and “music of the night,” lil david’s effort didn’t even make as much of an impact on me as syesha’s totally-unfamiliar-but-she-rocked-it song. he needs another “imagine.” c’mon DA, choose better known songs then give them a memorable twist FTMFW!

I said it right from the beginning once they said that Andrew Lloyd Webber was going to be the theme for one of the weeks that the only people able to pull of Phantom of the Opera better only be the 2 Davids… AND THEY DID AN AMAZING JOB!!! I thought David A was the best vocalist and most original of the night… it was superb…he took that song and made it contemporary… i agree simon was wrong this time… David C did nothing to make that song original and he was flat in some spots while David A was right on and sang from his heart… forget closing your eyes though, that was silly of alw to say.. david c and jason both closed theirs….

I thought it was adorable when I was watching it. However, it sucks that he felt the need to do his own “arrangement” and make it current, when he would have killed so many of ALW’s songs with their original arrangements. Why not just do the Boyzone song then?? I have had it with the show pimping Cook already. For the last two weeks I feel like they are purposely putting David way early and Cook much later so he can be the “performance of the night”. Shame on you, AI and your obvious pimping! DA is perfect but at this point it’s Cook’s to lose

Hi Everyone…on the west coast still waiting for the telecast..however was dialled in to the Fanblast live blog. It did not seem there was a flub, and the judges did not mention it either…have not heard it on the other sites that I check after the show.
Rickey either is trying to stir something up (maybe too mundane for him today?) or he needs his hearing checked! Anyway, a true fan would not go advertize a flub if indeed there was one..

Anyway, on to brighter things. East coasters are doing a good job voting…the difference on dialidol between DA and DC was over 20 points (whatever score they use) and now it is about 3.
And whereas it predicted DC at 1 earlier and DA between 2-5, it is now predicting DC at 1-2 and DA is 2-5.

actually there was nothing original about cook’s performance … Our David took a big risk by changing up his song making it very modern and he did and sounded great too … Simon should have acknowledge it … Randy and Paula did … so did Mr Weber.

At one point the lyrics were inaudible but I can’t say that he missed the lyrics because the camera had panned away from his face to a full stage view.

He was also singing in lower volume as he was building to a higher point later in the line.

The judges were right there in front of him and said nothing of it though… so.. must have been good.

Here’s my take though… I’m not pleased about the editing of ALW’s comments by AI producers. Did the eyes open thing have to be repeated 3 times right in a row before David took the stage? Not cool. And I mean is it really that big of a deal anyway? He was only rehearsing when he did it.

The whole family hug thing was not cool either. Made him look really hokey and waaaayyyy too sticky sweet.. yeukkkk.

And Cook sings at or near the end again 2 weeks running.. hmmmm.

About Archie though… I was thoroughly impressed by the arrangement and all in all a darn good performance. Randy’s right this week… it was “The Bomb.” “The Bomb!!!!!!!” Going to check out the gizmo thing now, voting is coming up for west coast… whoo hoo.

West Coaster here waiting for David to come up on my screen. Saw the video on Fan Blast. I thought he did really well in terms of originality and vocals. The song itself is not powerful and memorable to begin with compared to other more wellknown ALW’s songs. But I thought the change-up paid off. I applaud his taking risk. Nevertheless, it would be probably better to choose a more well-known male songs and sing the original version. He’s got broadway voice but did not quite showcase it tonight.

Maybe you’re right, I’m just so protective of our little LN sometimes I get carried away It’s just that I never really realized before how much the show can manipulate the vote by the way they present the contestants, the order in which they sing, etc. And ever since “Idol Gives Back” when Cook got all those solos, it seems like they are pushing him hard, and only Randy is consistently strongly in David’s corner – that’s why I love the dawg

OK I love DA… but… I have to say that I looked up the lyrics in question and after 2nd look I think Rickey is right. The real lyrics don’t sound close to what he was vocalizing. But the fact that the vast majority and the judges didn’t catch him shows that he handled it with great composure for a 17-yr-old.

Whew! 1620 votes, personal record! My thumbs actually have grooves indented in them.

I have to say, I know all the Phantom songs by heart and so I was very familiar with Think of Me and I am so glad he took the risk to change it up. It was AMAZING! I know everyone loves when he closes his eyes when he sings, I do too but I was mesmerized by his eyes while he was singing. I have replayed the ending a ton of times so far. Look at those eyes! I also loved what he was wearing. Not exactly green screen David, but pretty close! That was the first thing I noticed was the tie. Adorable!

About the possible lyric flub, I hate to say it but Rickey was right IMO. The lyrics are:

If you listen to him, he says some words I’m not sure what they are and then I heard the word softly.
As much as I hated to say it. No one get mad at me!
It was quick and he did recover very quickly. When I watched it live I wasn’t even sure what he said and I don’t think it was very noticeable at all. There were so many positives about the performance that that was not first in my mind at all.

And bringing that family up to hug him, he looked so uncomfortable. Almost like “why all this fuss about me”. He’s so humble and shy, I just love that about him.

I had my 8 year old watch with me tonight because she loves Phantom and Cats. She’s never watched before and I am NOT bashing any other contestants I just laughed so hard at what she came out with I had to share.

Please dont hate me. But i do have to agree with ALW about the “open your eyes” thing. Not that it bothers me when david licks his lips, close his eyes or growls. It’s just david needs to better his ability to perform on stage, I’ve heard some people say that when you keep your eyes open you can connect better with the audience. Last week, DC did ABMB with a new arrangement and he was praised for it, overly praised imo like he invented breathing, even though his vocals were sub parr.

This week D contemporarised his song, he took a big risk. heck he could have sang it opera style and blew everyone out of the water but he decided to do something different and no credit was given.

I LOVED that arrangement he did and the pop ballady type feel – loved how he sang that last line and looked right into the camera. His clothes were too cute + he did the sing again!

Don’t hate on me but I agree with Rickey and fa3ryg1rl – he did slightly flub the lyrics, but it was in a way that wasn’t too noticeable. I did say to myself “oh no, did he forget the lyrics again?!”

I can’t wait for the studio version!

I don’t think the majority of people care if it’s an original arrangement or not. David did pick a poor night to try one though. It’s just frustrating that he couldn’t show off his big voice and emotional connection. He needs to pick familiar melodies that he is confident with. He just needs to be that Archie that grabbed so many fans at the beginning. I hope he is safe. Then, I hope he forgets this week, forgets the message boards, ignore his old voice people etc., and just go with his gut. Just be him.

Cook did steal the show. He is such a professional. It’s like he’s in a different competition. He’s had years playing music and developing as an artist and it shows. Hopefully viewers can vote for people they think have the potential to do well. I look forward to seeing Archie when he’s 25.

I always look forward to the end of David’s songs….but not for the reason you think. I don’t recall anyone else in any season who can finish a song like he does. His runs are brilliant. He can sometimes be a bit tentative during the performance, but no matter what, he brings it home in the end. I really can’t wait for the studio performance of “Think of Me”. It could be one of his best!

I do want to make a plea to whoever is guiding him with song selection from hereon out: I seriously fear that David Cook is now pegged as TCO and David A’s win in this competition is no longer a foregone conclusion. Trust me – I’m a staunch David A. supporter, but we can’t deny that David Cook’s popularity has increased significantly over the past few weeks. Its *imperative* that David A. switch it up NOW. Give the fans what they want: something up tempo and less predictable. David’s very intent on satisfying his fans so it surprises me that Jeff, Dean or any of his support team reading the various sites are not heeding the fans’ advice week after week.. I’m tired of reading post after post from people acknowledging that, while immensely talented, he’s ‘boring’ and ‘without personality’ when he performs and threatening to support a new favorite. It’s so disheartening.

Reality check – After tomorrow night we’re down to the top 5. The competition is only getting stiffer and the vote getting more arduous. *We* all know David can outlast his competition. My wish for him is to feel that same confidence inside of himself as he’s so close to the finish line and we’re all there to cheer him across.

Yikes… I love Mr. Archuleta and his vocals were spot on as usual… but I really didn’t care for his arrangement of this ‘classic’… it sounded very typical Disney All Stars and too wholesome. I wanna see him dirty and raw.

Rickey, IF Archie did flub the lyrics, he covered it so well that 99% of the people watching didn’t notice (including the judges, who were sitting right in front of him), so why did you point it out in a very prominent way? It’s not a double standard. It’s not just about what you do, but how you do it and when. It’s a lot about timing; people thought David will do a rock version of phantom, so going for the straight version was still the original choice to make. DA (and don’t jump at me, I AM a fan!), once he already changed a song, he took it back to how most of his performances sound. Vocally amazing, but lack something that you will really remember after that, and in that I have to agree with Simon. He’s capable of it, though, he’s just being a lot more calculated and isn’t doing crazy things.

Again, doesn’t take away ANYTHING from how talented and amazing this kid is, but originality is still not his strongest suit.

Having said that, I’m off, voting window just opened.

I agree with your post 100%. I thought the song was pleasant, well done, but won’t gain him new fans. ALW week was his week to shine. I think he could have wiped the floor vocally if he chose any of the songs the other contestants sang today, even Carly’s..hee.

I think he took a risk, for him, but the casual viewer probably isn’t familiar with the song, didn’t know it was rearranged to a pop song, and still considered it a ballad. Also, why go through the trouble of rearranging a song and not have it fit the “AI” mold, showcasing amazing vocals and glory notes? He seemed pretty tense up there as well. Also, he CANNOT forget lyrics at this point in the competition. I’m very worried with the next few weeks, having to sing 2 – 3 songs a night, per contestant.

That said, I still love DA and hope he bounces back next week. He desperately needs to nail an upbeat song and gain his confidence back. Even though he flubbed the lyrics, I couldn’t tell until it was pointed out and I had to go back & listen again three times, so he recovered well. I thought Simon was a bit harsh calling it his weakest performance (I think WCWIO & YTV were weaker). Also, others had a bad night – Brooke, Jason (my heart cries for Jason as well), and Cook was weird for me and definitely over praised.
Hopefully, Archie can bring it again next week.

Okay, I’m a die-hard arch angel and even I heard the part where David slightly, almost un – noticeably, paused. So, you know what, if you can’t hear it, then you can’t hear it. If you heard it, then you heard it. Stop being so frigging defensive when David DOES make mistakes and Rickey is merely providing information to us. I, personally loved David’s performance and I have no idea why Simon said it’s forgettable but still, it’s not like Rickey pointing out he fumbled on a lyric that he’s going to suddenly lose all his fans. Please everyone, Rickey does a lot for us! Nothing wrong with him expressing what happened with Archie. Many people didn’t notice it, but I did also. I worry because it’s the 3rd time he’s done it (audition, WCWIO, tonight). Remember, this is Rickey’s site and he’s taken good care of us, even after all the drama of last week.

As for Dial Idol – remember – each contestant had 2 lines. Dial Idol measures the busy signal. Harder to do with more lines open.

You have every right to point out any flub in any way you choose. But, when your first words of your Archie blog are “OMG! He forgot his lyrics again!” you have to anticipate that you are inviting a reaction, esp. when the flub wasn’t an obvious thing and the judges didn’t even comment on it. Archies were excited to come to rickey after an amazing performance, and then disappointed to find the negative comment right up front, but we just need to remember that these are totally your choices to make.

To me, Carly’s flubbed lyrics were more obvious, but I understand that Archie is under more intense scrutiny. We know you are an Archie supporter and we do appreciate your amazing work here. I’m sorry again.

I’ve been pretty diplomatic with my posts, but some of you are getting awfully annoying. Rickey does an amazing job with this site and you are putting him in a lose-lose situation. It seems like some of you want him to ‘censor’ absolutely anything and everything that might be construed as even slightly negative about David Archuleta. You act like you run the site. I like little David, but he obviously flubbed his lyrics tonight. This is a fact and Rickey just reported it. Kudos to the Archies who can actually admit it when your Idol makes a small mistake (and it was a small one). Indicgo – thanks so much for your comments on my post (164). I agree with you that we’re all heavily invested in this and I, too, am a bit concerned now about the win. That said, my line of thinking has changed these past few weeks regarding what *David* wants. I have no doubt whatsoever his goal is to win the competition, but I truly don’t think he’d be disappointed with a 2nd place finish either. We all need to remember that what motivates David and gives him the most pleasure is simply a forum from which to perform. I know *we* all want this for him, but this kid’s dreams are going to be realized regardless if he leaves the competition tomorrow or as the next American Idol. Rest assured though, David *will* be in the finale.

Here’s the reality though folks: Over 10 weeks, he’s performed 8 ballads. He’s losing fans as he’s become too “predictable”, “boring” and “lacking in personality” Those aren’t my words.

I’m sorry some are discouraged by the tinge of negativity here tonight, but people should feel comfortable enough to have an open dialogue. I’d prefer that to a constant ‘rah rah rah” fest. We’re not doing David any favors that way. We can still be a fan, but be honest with our impressions. And some of you guys really need to lay off Rickey. Seriously.

As I said, I still believe David can (and likely will) win this, but there’s no denying at this point that it’s going to be a very tight race with David C.

Idolfan99- A “true fan would not go advertize a flub [sic]…” Puh-lease! I definitely noticed that he seems to mumble through part of the lyrics after re-listening. A “true fan” is able to admit when their Idol messes up, and love them anyways!!

Anyways, I didn’t notice the “flub” at all while watching AI. I loved, loved the rearrangement of this song. It’s a complete diva opera-esque song, and David A. flipped it on its head, making it a pretty pop song. Very cool!

However, he TOTALLY could’ve pulled off an awesome ALW ballad. I was really hoping one of the guys would sing “Love Changes Everything”. That’s a beautiful song! So is “Close Every Door to Me”.

In any case, the two Davids were the best tonight, as usual!

Rickey, I understand your frustration, but you have to understand that Archies are very sensitive because David has been the most belittled, most reviled, most nit-picked contestant in recent memory. I cannot begin to tell you…the level of hatred and vitriol out there in the media and blogosphere directed at our David. Anyway, it’s a bit silly of you (with all due respect) to post a clip of his supposed “flub.” Mumbles….well, he got the lyric right, just didn’t enunciate it or project well. There’s a difference between being flat wrong and being technically correct yet unconvincingly so. Overall, however, the performance was top 2 of the night…and I don’t know why he didn’t get credit from SIMON for being original and altering the arrangement. Sir Andrew even said, “BRAVO!”

I guess we’re having a side conversation tonight I think David will be happy no matter where he places in this competition. His vocal coach even mentioned his non-competitive nature. I’m sure his fans want this win for him much more than he does. It gets to me because David has touched my life in such a positive way and has helped me get through a rough patch in my life, so therefore, I feel like his fans owe it to him to vote every week FTMFW he deserves. I’m sure David appreciates his fans, but doesn’t feel as passionately about the win, which is fine.

Yeah, I’m a huge fan, but I’m past the “we all need to support and praise him even for predictable performances and song choices.” I vote for two hours every Tuesday night, even though Mr. Indicgo rolls his eyes in protest week after week.

Also, if team Archuleta is reading the boards, they need to hear constructive criticism from the fans that support him every week. I know the themes suck more than usual this year, but I still feel this is DA’s competition to lose and he needs to change it up with his performances. Cook is a worthy competitor – not my style, but he’s very intelligent and knows how to win this competition as an “underdog.” I also admire Cooks ability to keep it together as the competition progresses. DA’s composure has impressed me as well, but the song choices are killing him. Hopefully, he can pick songs he’s comfortable with in the coming weeks and delivers another “Imagine” type performance. He’s absolutely capable.

Here’s the thing: What about an opener that says “David A was brilliant, did what Simon said to do at the beginning (make the song current)but then didn’t give him credit” Or “If David A had had the pimp spot, he would have brought the house down and been on top in the numbers.” Then reporting a lyric flub, which is almost universally done by contestants, would not have been a sore spot with the crazed fans on this site.

And both of those comments are true. Imagine if David had sung last. Imagine even if he’d sung right before or after Cook – the comparison would be a little more obvious. Imagine if Simon had cleaned out his ears before coming to the show. At least Randy always always loves David and Paula at least gave him props for being original.

I couldn’t decide if he was just singing really low and soft or if he missed a bit, but either way, it was still a very very good vocal performance. This kid really CAN sing anything. And I’m glad at least Paula acknowledged that he turned a strong female theatrical “diva solo” into a very strong current male pop ballad.

Loner, I do multimedia-journalism, but I’m doing mostly entertainment stuff and I am a bit too artsy for my own good sometimes.

Right now I’m trying to finish my portfolio, actually, because I need to send it around so I can get a job, but there’s only so many hours a day I can spend in front of Flash. I got to the point where for one of my galleries I actually avoided AS altogether and did with the good ol’ gotoAndStop. Granted, it suited the particular thing I was working on better anyway, but it just to show you that my mind had turned itself off. Too bad, really, since I’m not going to sleep any time soon.

Hi all. David was lovely tonight, absolutely lovely – I really liked the arrangement and as always the vocals were beautiful. Loved the runs and the fact that he really injected his own personal style into it. I wish he had gotten a little more credit for changing it up a bit, and I think Simon was too harsh saying it was one of his “weakest performances” – it wasn’t his best (just because he is so amazing every single week!) but definitely nowhere near the range of “weak” IMO. Oh, well. At least Randy and Paula praised him and rightfully so. I think the studio version is really going to be something.

That being said – I am starting to get pretty nervous, too. I’m sure DialIdol is a little off because of the intro of 2 phone lines per contestant… but it really hurts not seeing Archie in that #1 spot. He’s not even in green! I want him to win so badly and I truly think he deserves it more than anyone else… I voted as much as I could on the West Coast and I’m sure he’ll be safe tomorrow, but I’m just thinking that there are only 4 weeks left and David really needs to blow away the rest of the competition to get more of the general public’s votes. I just fear that in these next few weeks it is critical to pick really great songs to have mind-blowing performances and build up the perfect amount of momentum to prepare for the finale. Do we know for sure if they are starting to sing 2 songs each next week?? I really hope David will sing some uptempo stuff; we all know that he is probably the most versatile one on that stage, but he just needs to remind the general viewers of that.

Anyway – let’s be positive – I loved the outfit tonight!!! Young and fun and I noticed the tie first as well – definitely reminiscent of the Ford Green Screen hotness!! Whoo!!

One last thing – regarding voting, I know AT&T has a tool on their website where you can send text messages from your phone number if you have an account with them. I was wondering if we could use that to vote for David?? I believe it’s supposed to work the same as if you text people from your phone itself, but I’m not sure if you have to pay for this online texting or not (a lot of websites have it for free so AT&T might do it too?) or if these votes would count. But since it is AT&T I would think it would be legit… anyway, if anyone knows or could do some research on it and report back that would be great I bet it would be a lot faster to vote that way than to dial and redial.

Don’t forget to vote for pro-David songs on the AI Songwriting Contest – it closes tomorrow!! Will be trying to breathe until the Results Show tomorrow night – GO ARCHIE!!!!

Me a religious DA voter from west coast kept checking dialidol every few minutes in between the frenzy of voting with 2 phones – did not move a nanometer up. I think Dialidol is BOGUS.

Loved ALW’s comment “little david has a musical soul”.

So what if DA made up lyrics in the later part of the song – he sang it so well. His own arrangement did not get a kudos but if DC sneezed it would be standing ovation for the judges. Others were pitiable. Syesha was more performance than singing, DC was absolutely dull and Boring. DA would have whipped “Music in the night” if he had it. Carly was more cacophony than singing. Brooke was a nonentity.

People dont believe in dialidol.

It was DA’s night. My hunch is he will do “CRAZY” after JC gets voted off as they both sang it in hollywood week. It would not be fair for AI to grant it to DA when JC is around. Cant wait for that performance.

okay i know everyone will be mad at me but here goes.

(this is just my humble, personal opinion)

I totally thought that Archie butchered that song. i thought that… well it’s just not the way to sing that song. i was totally flipping in a negative way when i saw ALW’s face after the performance. To me, he didn’t look pleased. I am saying this because I am a huge fan of Broadway musicals and theater performing. Really huge fan of the genre to the point that i hold everything about it — its distinct style and form — really really sacred.

ugh. one should not tamper with broadway musical songs.. the R&B treatment was like… uuuuh.

I actually thought that Archie should have sang a powerful ALW song, sang it straight, and let his gorgeous vocals do it justice… the way he sang Imagine. (He hasn’t outdone that performance for weeks now.)

Postscript:
Oh and yes… Archie flubbed the lyrics… I know that song by heart… used to sing it in front of people in high school.

I liked how he made it more pop. He put a workable spin on it. But he did mumble through a verse. I thought he covered fairly well, and the camera was kind to show him from the back during that part. He’s not going to even be in B2 for it, but he did get nervous and fail to enunciate that verse clearly.

Am I the only person that is completely bored with DA performances week after week? They are all entirely the same…tedious and monotonous songs sung with a timid and boyish vibrato. It was cute for the first few weeks, but I am over it. Every week he reminds me more and more of somebody you see on the late-night Christian Rock Concert infomercials.
He really butchered a beautiful song this week by attempting to rearrange it. Even DC [who is clearly the most talented musician in the competition] knew enough to leave the arrangement alone. Perhaps DA knows he needs to try and do something special to win. He is just not as good as DC
As far as his eyes always being closed. I completely agree with ALW. I understand many of his fans like this, but in reality it displays his inability to connect to his audience. He NEEDS to hide in the song and sing to himself. He has allot of growing up to do before he is ready for the big stage. That is just my opinion. I wish him the best of luck, he seems like a really great, grounded kid, and deserves a good shot at it in the music business…I just don’t think his time in now. Good day.

I loved David Archuleta’s performance and I loved it even more the second time and still more the third, haha. I am a an of musicals big time, however, David took this song and made it something gorgeous that could seriously be on pop radio right now without anyone giving it a second though that it was from a musical. I actually like the eye opening advice from ALW, as long as it doesn’t distract David from the performance, although you could see a bunch of times when he sooo wanted to close his eyes, hehe. Now, Andrew Lloyd Webber needs to talk to the AI film crew and tell them to actually stay on David’s face some more, so all the work that goes into David keeping his eyes so open is not wasted on far away shots that the AI film crew seems to enjoy. Well, at least they went in close a bit more than usual, they are on the right path, lol, and the did the close up almost all the way t9 the end of the song, which was great…of course they did zoo out prematurely as usual, but they did close ups more than usual, so thanks for that. Love the eye contact, love the arrangement, love the originality, love the vocal prowess, hehe. Love way David sings the lines “think of Me” and “imagine Me” Must get the studio version stat. haha The studio version will be beyond belief. Objectively speaking here, people. I give credit where credit is due and this was beautiful and melodic and current and truly superb. David is a demonstration of how someone performs when they actually should be on American Idol. Anybody who would have tuned in for the first time today would have been smitten vocally. Oh, and it made Me laugh just how many time ALW mentioned the eye opening thing, it was a lot of times indeed. Made Me burst out laughing, hehe. K, so David Archuleta was awesome for reals, people. Oh, and I forgot to mention that it is a great testament to David’s skills as a performer that when he gets critiqued, he is able to take that advice and incorporate it and still excel vocally. People had issue with him licking his lips, bam, it’s gone. ALW had issues with David closing his eyes, bam, it’s gone. Try to tell Mariah Carey or Christina Aguilera not to do the arm in the air motion when singing or try to ask Britney not to stick half her tongue out when singing or even lip synching certain notes and they would not be able to perorm. #12-the advice to David A. to try not to keep his eyes shut during his performance was a very good observation and valid comment. It enhanced David’s performance, and made it much more enjoyable. David A. actually did a good job in his performance, and very good cover up on the missing words. You know, being able to cover like that is a very coveted talent in a musical performer. David A. did extremely well for such a young age, his maturity shows through in his songs.

My favorite was still David Cook with his stunning high notes and perfect pitch. I couldn’t restrain myself sitting on my couch in my livingroom. I clapped my hands and about cried when David Cook hit those high notes. He didn’t slide on to them either. He hit them spot on, and even went from one high note to an even higher note, and it echoed. Oh my gosh! David Cook is a musical genius.

Looking forward to both Davids in the top 2 spots, no doubt. David Cook for the win, though.

Ok, after listening to this several times, I have to say it is better than I thought the first time listening live .

I don’t think he flubbed any words ( saying this after several listens ) , but I will say that he sang the words after ” imagine” SO SOFTLY , that it is difficult to hear and does sound mumbled.

That being said, I think the band may have helped to drown him out on the low parts.
I actually do think he did a great job ,esp. on the high notes as usual . Maybe if he had just a piano accompaniment , it would have sounded better and we would have been able to hear those low ntoes better – or maybe he just needed to sing those lower notes in a different key ? No music expert here , but they were sung TOO low to be heard properly , for whatever reason.

I believe the stage dad wanted the world to know his son can “change up” a song just as well as David Cook and wasn’t the least surprised when he was doing a song that he “changed up”.However I feel as Simon did. This is not a memorable song for David A. What does surprise me is the treatment Rickey is getting on this site. This is a labor of love for Rickey and the way some of you fans treat him is deplorable.
I may not be in agreement with Rickey all of the time, but when I am not, I remember not to bite the hand that feeds me.

He forgot his lyrics and chewed through them just like Melinda did on her second take of “I’m a Woman”. Sorry you’re taking some flack for this Rickey, but….it’s true, y’all. The only saving graces he probably had were 1.) The camera wasn’t focused on his face at the time, and 2.) The judges completely neglected to mention it.

Okay. That’s it.

Rickey, I appreciate what you do here. I’m always amazed at how much work you put into it, and how fast you get the info up. As far as I can tell, you have supported David A. for the win from the beginning…and you were just reporting the facts about his performance last night. David A. did mess up a little last night. You’re not the only one who has brought it up, and the fact that the judges didn’t bring it up. This was a quote from Victor Balta who is a TV critic, “David Cook was pretty terrific, as usual, and none of the judges called David Archuleta on messing up his lyrics.” I read this on the Comcast news page. I can’t believe anyone would come here and insult Rickey on HIS website. He doesn’t get paid to do this. He does this all on his own time. You can give the other bloggers crap, but not the webmaster. That’s my opinion, and I’m entitled to it!

Just a few comments.
DA flubbed. Get over it. Not a big deal in comparison to , say, Brooke’s restart, and his complete blankout from earlier in the season, but he did flub. I know Phantom enough to have noticed it the instant that it happened.

As for their order, I have it in very good confidence that they select their order from a group of numbers. The individual picks at random what order they will go in, that way it is entirely fair.
And I am glad ALW said that about DA and his eyes. The point of the theater is to connect and he felt it was all in the eyes. Made sense….
also- one last bit. I am an Archie fan, and have been from the beginning. But I will never get so crazed that I do not see performances, enjoy them, and let others work their way into my heart. DC is my guy at the moment, and has been improving in my eyes. Carly was my girl in the beginning. Syesha was great last night, though, and garnered all of my girl votes.

From today’s feedaback in the news, its clear David Archuleta has flatlined and the momentum is with David Cook. Even AI super pimped David Cook last night by playing the final moments of his performance with his dial in number (as opposed to a generic moment from a song with the others).

Its David Cook’s competition to lose at this point. The general public always goes for the underdog and only Cook managed to dethrone the so called Chosen One. Don’t forget, even Jesus was crucified in the end.

He sings the same emotion every week. Nothing wrong with wanting to change the world and make it a better place, but it’s the same emotion just the same. And if he’s going to be judged like everyone else, I think he’s got to show a different side of his personaility. Nice enough kid though.

David A. is a really good kid with enormous talent. I think his only challenge at this point is that he simply doesn’t have enough life experience or confidence yet to be able to sing with conviction (or pick songs that speak to who he is). That will come with age, and when it does, watch out!! He will be incredible…and I can’t wait to hear him sing at 25. I do hope it’s David vs. David for the finals. They both will go far in the music industry!

I gotta say, I was definitely disappointed with Archie last night. I was a fan of his when he busted out ‘Imagine’, but he just hasn’t been able to equal that performance yet. ALW night was the biggest chance he had to give another mind-blowing performance, but he made possibly one of the worst song choices possible. He should have picked something from Joseph, which would have showcased his voice brilliantly. Instead, he chose a song meant for an female operatic diva, and his arrangement sucked out all the emotion from the original song. DC definitely won the night by proving that he can sing (and sing amazingly) soulful ballads, just like DA, but DA has yet to show us that he can do anything other than pop-ballads.

So, I just listened to “think of me”, again, and I just do NOT see how anyone can say that David A. doesn’t have the technically and just down-right best voice in the competition? He is SO good, especially when he gets up into his higher power range! He will be my favorite after Jason goes, for sure! Sure he’s young and awkward and silly shy, but he’s got the producers doing douchy things like letting little girls come up on stage to hug attack him. That would make anyone short of Brooke uncomfortable! He’ll be great, he just needs to grow up a little bit, and he’ll make some great music while he’s doing it! *rant over*

Hey I love ALW work but his comment about Pork Chop not opening his eyes was kind of a double standard. Jason closed his eyes almost the whole performance of “Memory” which I just watch again and it wasn’t that bad vocally. It was just ok. Oh fudge, we are over it, we are ok, we are just here to support Pork Chop FTMFW! Arch Angels will band together and miracles will happen in the finale…..I can see it. LOL….Baby D is SAFE! Yes he is!
