Yaaaaay! After 3 consecutive weeks of being in the first 20 minutes of the show, they finally gave Jason Castro the pimp spot.

This was Jason’s second best performance (Hallelujah was just fantastic). BUT I think he was the best of the night (even though DC is my FAV)! Good Job!

Wow, the audio sounds much better than I thought when watching the performance. Jason has a good recording/radio voice! I still say he has a Howie Day vibe going on. My major issue with him is that he can’t project! I was looking for a little more volume, maybe a GLORY note or two, as this was MARIAH week for crying out loud.

Anyways, Jason will be around another week for sure!

I think Jason really has a beautiful voice and at some parts of the song he did project his voice more. I think he was probably nervous but his performance was very heartfelt and he did a good job. Watching the video over it seemed even better than when he performed. I guess because those powerhouse voices were all before him. I only voted for Jason but my younger daughter had to give some votes for DA.

Jason’s still my favorite and he did look adorable tonight.

Hmmm, I wish Jason would have sang the riff the way Mariah gave it to him in the interview. When he sang it on the show tonight…he broke the phrasing of the riff by taking a breath in the middle of it…

“only emptyness (breath) inside of us”

When Mariah gave it to him…and when he sang it sitting on the stool with his guitar…he did it with one contiuous breath & syncopated delivery.

Although I was waiting for this more soulfully phrased riff than what Jason usually gives…it was still good but the phrase was sung more in his usual “perfected imperfection” coffee house style.

Definitely should see him sitting safely on the sofa tomorrow.

Not my favorite performance of his.. he sounded great, but I just don’t like the song.
I liked the whole arrangement though. It was very intimate and simple, just the way his music should be.

I just love jason castro. He’s my second fave after my lover, DC.

I’m surprised Simon enjoyed him tonight. Maybe Smon finally clued in that Jason is great precisely because he’s NOT the belty divo he was trying to coax out of him.

Funny aside: before Randy said “Luau” I *TOTALLY* shouted out -”LUAU”!! I just *FELT* that Randy was about to Hawaiianize this performance because of the Jack Johnsony bongos. ha!

I loved it! I thought he did really great, which was a relief. I was slightly nervous about Mariah night, but he worked it out! I loved it, and I can’t wait for the studio version, so I get to hear more of it. I love his voice so much, and it was cool he got the pimp spot finally. Good luck Jason!!! Oh, and if he had a luau concert, I’d be there in a heartbeat!

Jason Castro definitely brought the heat tonight. He’s had his heart broken (he said so in one of his interviews) and he put all that emotion into this song. Of all the Idols he’s the one that connects with the music the most. Beautiful, and wonderfully “breathy” version of I Don’t Want to Cry – one more of his songs that I’ll download.

Wow! he’s gorgeous too, and doesn’t seem to know it, or let it affect him. I believe he can give the Davids a run for their money – he’s got more sex appeal than both Davids combined.

You know what’s funny, I think the critics liked this performance better than the fans.

I love Jason and I thought the vocals were great, but it wasn’t my favorite of his. It does get better the more times I rewatch it…but that’s just me being a fantard.

The first time I heard this I was iffy on it….the more I have heard it the more it grows on me. I think Jason did a really nice job. I am not that into Mariah so i found that this was a song that ultimately Jason could do something with on his own.

The cougar scene to me was like Mariah saying “Come to Mama!” He kind of floats to her – maybe she had an invisible force field that he was drawn into?

We get it, judges and producers: You want an all-David finale. And you’re probably going to get your way. Unless, of course, Jason keeps building on the massive momentum wave he’s created over the last two weeks with ”Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and last night’s ”I Don’t Wanna Cry.”

For all Jason’s 20 yrs of age he’s really just a kid on his first “flight out of the nest” – so to speak. Miriah is a huge, international, 38 yr. old sex diva, who is probably an inspiration to him, so the romantic playing field is vastly uneven and highly inappropriate. For her to show that sort of attraction towards such a young guy is, well, creepy – she’s been married and around the block several times, and she really is old enuf to be his Mother. Eck.

Yes, Paula is another one who has the hots for Jason I think, but she’s more like an adoring fan than a predator like Cougar Cary. It’s hard not to just fall in love with those blue eyes, beautiful face and passionate voice, but we draw the line at offering him candy to get in our car. lol

I bet Mariah was attracted to Jason since Jason is so good looking and all. I mean who wouldn’t be regardless of age.

I have to watch the video again Amber to see how Paula sounded she did say he was amazing though. I bet she’s attracted to Jason as well as Michael Johns and David Cook too. But I don’t think she was attracted to anyone as much as she was to Constantine. I mean she cried her eyes out while hugging Constantine’s mom in the audience when Con was unjustly booted off the show. We all should remember that.

I wish Jason was able to sing “The Other Side” on Idol with no back ground music at all just his guitar. Jason wrote this song and I think it’s really beautiful. He projects his voice more also. I can’t seem to get those tunes on youtube out of my head especially the song “Clumsy” which Jason
performs at his church. I think he sounds amazing.

This is kind of funny one person on youtube commented on the song “Clumsy” saying that she thought Jason was singing cause you’re making me horny still making me horny. Of course he’s really singing you’re making me holy still making me holy.

I WAS being naughty, but I just think of Jason as such a young kid, and Miriah was practically licking him, so it was sorta ycky to me. But that’s just me, obviously not the general opinion. But we all still get an opinion, right?
