You made Dolly cried. Atta Boy!
He’s back in his game. But there’s the effin’ loud orchestra and M.O.R. arrangement. Would have been more of a killer if it was just a guitar and a cello. And I thought it was a bit too unnecessarily belty for me.
But our boy did his thing and he’s right back at the top again!
David Archuleta is not just gifted, David Archuleta IS a gift.
I’m a little surprised, Rickey, that you labeled Michael Johns as the “best performance of the night.” He was great, it was impressive, maybe even stunning, but no one–no one–touches the soul like David Archuleta. The rare combination of vulnerability and power that he brings to his performances is nothing short of miraculous.
Having been a singer, I am always looking for–and impressed by–technical proficiency. But in even 90 seconds, I am so carried away from my usual point of perspective by David Archuleta, that I can’t even evaluate it in a rational way. My heart gets much too involved.

Oh my goodness, I laughed when Dolly said her false eyelashes were about to fall off. And she predicted he will become a great great singer! Thank you Dolly for confirming to many of us what we have already known about DA. Then I was almost in tears with his performance. I think Dolly was such a great mentor and although I am not familiar with most of her songs, those songs are beautiful indeed. A friendly reminder to the love nuggets to vote for McTasty!!!!

Michael Johns and David Cook outsung the little Ewok tonite but he did a good job with a somewhat boring song. The Archelenos can rejoice. The restyling of DC makes me think he’s been prepped for bigger things.

Oh I’m so proud of him!
Once again, I did not know the song but he blew me away. I am so excited to buy the iTunes version.
This is the first time I have been reduced to tears and sobs during a song on AI. David seems to have the ability to actually live the song, and add a great voice and nice appearance and you have a star. It’s hard to believe he is only 16 years old. Like someone said above, he IS a gift.
It may tell my age, but I am tempted to compare David A. to a very young Elivs Presley.
