Oh dear God I hope they’ll stop supporting her when it’s really her time to go, I am Pinoy but I don’t want her to be another Jasmine Trias, the Idol judges will be vicious to her, and I’m afraid Ramiele won’t be able to handle that well and she may not be able to have a musical career in the Sates just like Jasmine, because everyone hates her…

It reminds me of all a question on AI board from Ramiele fan asking whether another contestant stays because of look or talent then was asked back whether Ramiele stays because of her talent or ethnicity. LOL

I’m Filipino, and I’m not a big fan of Rami. She reminds me too much of a typical Filipino karaoke singer. I can personally point out at least one person in my family that reminds me of her.

gboi, there is one in my family too! haha. but of course if ramiele does well, we should all support her. i don’t think it’s her time to go yet. so, we’ll just see how far this block voting will take her. but really, this news is just crazy.

First of all, Ramiele Malubay can stay in the competition for as long as — TPTB want her, the viewers want her, she wants to. If you are not willing to face the punches then you shouldn’t be in the competition — that’s why you compete. The notion that “I want her to be eliminated because I don’t want her to get hurt” is so ridiculous.

Also, block voting is a myth as far as race or ethnic origin is concerned in American Idol. The only proven voting blocks on American Idol are by state (Alabama — for Taylor Hicks and Hawaii — for Jasmine Trias), and by demographic (young girls, etc.) If the Filipino voting block existed then every Filipino-American that have graced the show should have gone far in the competition every year: Camile Velasco and A.J. Tabaldo.

It is simply impossible for Ramiele to make it to the Top 3 at this point. Why? She has no fans.

I agree w/ you Rickey. She doesn’t have fans as big as David Archuleta or Jason Castro. But we’ll see..I don’t think she’s good at all, she’s talented but she has no personality, except sit or stay close/around J Castro, maybe for recognition?

Tell it like it is, RICKEY! One pretty girl does well, and suddenly the Pinoy community can take the net competitor to the top, even if several have not made it far in the meanwhile… That is like saying VFTW can make a difference, when time and time again that has proven to be false. The only block I know of that can help save a performer is our Blessed Blogger, RICKEY!

It’s not ridiculous to feel that way for her because she looks like she can’t handle it and frankly a lot of people who enter in competitions are like her, (I remember feeling so hurt for Jasmine when nothing that she did mattered anymore, they were all just vicious) all I meant to say was Jasmine was tore down during the show and I just didn’t want that to happen again.

That’s true. It was the Hawaii vote that carried Jasmine, not the Fil-Am block. And aside from Camille Velasco and A.J. Tabaldo, there was also Melinda Lira and Sway Penala. The Fil-Am vote didn’t help them either.

IDK Rickey, last week at DialIdol the state breakdown gave her California. My grandfather was born over in the Philipines; and I have many Filipino-American reletives, mostly in Californis. I remember back in 2004 a cousin sent me weekly emails trying to get votes for Jasmine Trias.

I am Filipino & in my opinion, she- as well as all the other competetors in the competition, have the same & all the potential in the world to make it to the Top (#?). Take Sanjaya for example… I honestly wasn’t a fan of his, but the reason why he got that far was not because of his singing (possibly) but the people liked him and therefore got the popular vote and others that were in the Mid- Eastern area + more fans voted for him.

That’s what I personally think will happen with Ramiele in this situation. But I respect your opinion.

Well, she has enough fans that she wasn’t in the bottom three. Beyond that,I don’t know.

There are only 8 states with less population than Hawaii — kind of small to take someone all the way to number 3. Maybe it was a combination of Hawaii and ethnicity? Speculation….

I don’t know if the letter will have any effect, but it seems pretty unprecedented. Maybe the Australian embassy will send something out on behalf of Michael Johns.

This is just what American Idol is all about folks – a talent show based on popularity. The power to call or text for your favorites is the name of the game.

The presumption is the people who votes for a particular idol will buy that idol’s album in the future.

Mid- Eastern area? What is that supposed to mean? And what has Sanjaya Malakar have to do with Ramiele Malubay?

There’s some evidence to indicate that Ramiele Malubay has no significant fan presence in the United States. And even if she does, they don’t care for her music because they are not buying it.

so why is she still in the competition if she doesnt have fans? dont deny that you are Filipino, too, Rickey. I dont think that its a state block but i believe in the ethnic block. Pinoys are scattered all OVER the US.
And I know Ramielle will have her moment. Check out her studio version of Alone, way better than Carly Smithsons.

Rickey is a Filipino? XD I don’t really know after years of lurking here… XD

Anyway, I am a Filipino and I personally don’t think that she is marketable. I could say that Jasmine Trias is better than her but still she doesn’t deserve to be in 3rd place. She’s too much like every other singer in the Philippines and I don’t see her bringing anything new (which would the same for GMA-7’s Pinoy Idol).

If you try to watch a televised singing competition here in the Philippines, you’d get someone like Ramielle. Talented but almost just like everyone else.

Good point about not having fans that buy her music. TPTB won’t go for that. But still, as far as the competition goes, Jason Castro has a lot of fans that buy his music and still ended up bottom three while Ramiele was safe. I guess it depends on whether you believe that the voting is legit or not. I go back and forth on that one.

At the IDF forum, there was a thread asking why is Ramiele still in the competition (without ever being in the B3) when she’s been giving bad to mediorce performances.

There’s one poster responded with just one word. “FILIPINOS”.
