I loveee Queen and that’s why I jumped and clapped my hands during the live show. But you know what, after re-watching the performance posted by rickey, the vocals were actually a mess. We will rock you/We are the champions are just the type of songs that will keep the crowd going and that’s why it’s more of a credit based on his song choice that his vocal performance. However, if David Cook did this, it would have been phenomenal.

I agree about the fact that PART 1 was HORRIBLE and PART 2 WAS AMAZING! I “still” feel that Michael Johns ain’t much more than a karaoke singer, who just happens to sing Queen and other 80s rock type songs. BUT I LIKE HIM!

great performance for me. but not the best “we are the champions” sung by an idol contestant. i’ve heard better, i’m not sure but maybe it was daughtry who did the best version.

This was probably his best vocal so far in 24 and 12, but I’m sorry there were some PITCH issues when he went for the high notes, as there always are. Somehow the judges never seem to notice with him, when some other contestants would get reamed for it.

I don’t recall any other idol singing WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS. Ace sang “WE WILL ROCK YOU” and I liked Ace’s version (ORIGINAL VERSION) better than Michael.

who CARES if he had pitch problems! he sanged good enough, everyone cant sing the best, he did what his voice could let him do, jeez. anyways, i thought it was his best performance especially vocally and he FINALLY brought an awesome performance!! go michael!! better than david cook’s performance imo but cook comes second for me ^_~ these two guys are uber awesome, they both better make it to the top 2!!!

He thinks he is better than he is. I find him pedestrian. A high school talent show contestant with less likeability.

I don’t wonder what he is going to sing each week. His performances never light up the stage– as much as they tried tonight with the blinding lights and rock star camera cuts. You can’t pretend he’s something he’s not. Sorry Michael.

I’m with you Izzy..I was more intrigued by the light show than his performance…which was totally smashed to bits by David Cooks performance…who is a much better vocalist.

All I have seen out of Mr. Johns so far is that he thinks he can front a Queen cover band. His best performance so far was “Bohemina Rhapsody” during the top 24 shows, then this. Not impressed, and I think the judges will think less of this performance when they see playback.

Perhaps the most overrated of this year’s group. He backs off the true high notes and holds one note in his comfort range and that makes a memorable performance? He’s average at best.

he should have been on RS INXS, not idol. the we will rock you part was utterly ghastly. cheese cheese cheese. he should have just sung we are the champions. since when are they allowed to do medleys anyway?

it was ok, he was pretty bad in parts. david cook blew him away by far. i still love michael, and i think he needs to do a song that fits him.

when michael sang ” dont forget about me” that was his best vocals. he was natural didnt try to hard and hit all the high notes which he cant do very well. rock you was to big for him
