I liked it. But that run in the end was disappointing.

Simon and Randy did not like it. I have a feeling that the judges just want to break her or something.

i don’t understand why the judges keep telling her that rock isn’t her thing. i think she fits so well into the Heart-type rock sound. they apparently think she’s better as a blues/soul singer.

anyway it’s frustrating because she is always failing to hit a grand slam. she is so capable of one. she needs a PERFECT performance or i bet she’ll be in the bottom 3 multiple times.

At the start of the performance, I was thrilled she was singing Total Eclipse. I FELT she would BLOW IT OUT THE WATER. For the most part, she did a great job, but it didn’t live up to my expectations AT ALL. Comparing to Jessica Sierra is hard, though, because Jessica did ROCK IT, but I think she took less risk.

The best girl singer by far but I think she must be thinking too much about being in the bottom last week. That ending was overkill.

Some songs should be banned, and that’s one of them. It’s been done to death. Didn’t Jessica Sierra sing it? Gina Glocksen? Who else has sung that song? I think the Idol catalog rights are very skimpy, I keep hearing the same songs over and over.

WOW! She probably did throw up. And that’s probably why she didn’t NAIL the performance. Regardless of what Randy said about that NOT being the right song choice… I THINK IT TOTALLY WAS THE RIGHT SONG CHOICE.

This was her weakest for me, and a little disappointing because I expected her to blow the song out of the water. I feel sorry for her having to go on right after leaving the bathroom, that sucks!

If she is pregnant and only a little bit pregnant* then she’s probably running to the bathroom to pee. That’s what you have to do a lot to start and to finish.

*Who ever said you can’t be a little bit pregnant has never been a whole lotta pregnant. There IS a difference.

I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s pregnant and vomiting, peeing, or tired. She seemed distracted and spacey, and she wasn’t singing with her normal level of control. Also, she always wears loose-fitting tops that skim, rather nip her waist. If she is pregnant, I hope she’s taking care of herself!

I love Carly. I have a feeling she’s letting all the negativity and pressure get to her. In my opinion, she has the best potential, and I hope she starts to regain her confidence. This wasn’t my favorite of her performances, but I still thought it was good and if there’s fairness in the world, she’ll have the chance to blow us away next week.

I totally agree with mahrikka. She has a TON of potential. Pregnant or not, all of a sudden she seems to not be enjoying herself like she was in the beginning.

Natural choice for her, but I don’t think she did it justice. It started promising, but was not strong at the end. Chinks are starting to show in Ms. Smithson’s armor.

WHy does she feel the need to oversing so much? I mean, why can’t she just let a good vocal be (which she does have…)? That run at the end just sounded so desperate, so forced, and SO un-necessary. It ruined an otherwise decent karaoke version of an overdone song…

it was obviously a good song choice for her. the judges have totally turned on her. if ramiele or syesha sang it with that level of quality they would be getting mad props. seems like the judges are doing more of giving them a hard time relative to what they think the idols’ potentials are, instead of the performances at face value. maybe that’s good, i don’t know.

I think she has one of the most amazing voices of any contestant I’ve seen on idol – and I agree with a number of posters here that the judges are totally unfair to her! Her range and the strength of her voice is SO much better than ramiele or syesha.

Every year – as we have discussed in various threads before – The judges and producers have a GOOD IDEA on who they want to win. This year we will have a battle of the Davids. They want a guy, and that’s what they are pulling for. Carly is the best / strongest female vocal contestant, yet with a few exceptions, they usually have something negative to say, even though she was amazing. Tuesday? I found she wasn’t amazing, and felt she should’ve been – on that song. Later to find out – she was wearing a girdle type undergarment. NO WONDER!
