I just don’t like him. He seems like an okay guy but I don’t want him to win and I’m waiting for him to be sent home.

Rickey and all — Chikezie is Nigerian. That’s the way they are — very proud and very defensive. It’s in their blood. I know I dated them for a while. They do what they want to do and they are always right. It’s cool. You learn to get along.

His voice is very sweet. I love listening to it. But when he went out to the audience, i could hear Simon’s criticism right then and there. And for Randy to say a “luther vandross” song is old fashioned — he’s gotta be drinking bad Coke….Luther Vandross song “old?” OMG, he’s nuts. Luther Vandorss is always relevant and “today.”

SIGH! Chikezie is no Luther, yet he likes to sing Luther. NOW… I thought he was vocally good on the song, but the performance was ch-ezie and a bit boring for a pop show. AND – I hate how he always talks back. Simon says worse things than what he said to Chikezie and most contestants stand there and take it.

To compare Michael Johns and Chikezie tonight. The main difference is that Chikezie gave a “well sung” boring performance while Michael Johns gave a well sung entertaining performance.

This was a good vocal, but not great. When he argues with the judges it completely removes the little charm he has. He’s in danger this week.

The start was a bit blah, but he really sang the crap out of the end. That said, while I liked it & he sang it mostly well, I don’t like him the “Luther” mode. It’s probably nearest to his personality, but it doesn’t make for compelling TV. LOL

Yeah… That’s how I feel about Chik. Chik as Luther just doesn’t work for me in the sense that it’s not his strongest suit as an entertainer.

I, too, think that Chikezie is in danger & believe that he could be in the bottom 3 along with Ramiele & (guess who) Kristy. And with Kristys’ luck, she ain’t goin’ nowhere! The judges seem prepared to light into Chikezies’ butt almost before he finishes the song!

Regarding vocals & old fashioned songs: How do the judges just KNOW that the fans don’t want a little good old fashioned R&B melody occasionally? Ok, Syesha & sometimes, Ramiele go there a bit. But, Chikezie in singing Luther Vandross, which I would not have advised, still offers some variety in a mostly Rock-dominated season. The other 2 alternatives are Jason & Brooke who are slightly askew from the center & therefore enchanting to watch. However, Brooke, was amazingly bland with monotonous vocals this evening & the judges gave her a pass? She even flubbed a lyric & the judges said “okay”. Hunh?

Chikezie has a beautiful voice even if he doesn’t always choose the “right” songs. I hope that he makes it to next week.

As far as Nigerians are concerned, I know a few & have worked with a couple. Yes, specifically the men, are a very proud & confident group. I think Chikezie senses some shame when he is mowed over by the judges especially with his parents in the audience.

I thought they were mean to him tonight. He has one of the nicest “black male” voices in all AI seasons since Ruben. I’ve grown fond of him since his country performances.

I really liked it. I love his voice. I thought the song was really great. I liked him when he auditioned, then I didn’t like him in the 3 semifinal weeks, but I’ve loved him the last 3 weeks since he made the top 12. I’m surprised that more people didn’t enjoy this.

Overall I thought it was good and he doesn’t deserve to go. A couple of notes were sketchy and I could clearly see the Vandros influence. I give him credit for breaking away from what he was doing and showing another side. Unfortunately I am not sure he has the fan support to hold him in.

I found his performance rich and soulful. He inhabited the song completely. Not one facial expression was inappropriate for the lyric and his vocal tone was really nice. He has a great voice and picked a song that showcased it. Who wants a show with just one type of song being sung? I thought his performance equalled or surpassed Michael Johns’. It’s easier to SEEM like you’re kicking butt with a loud band and lots of lights. Harder to deliver a captivating performance when it’s just you, your voice, and some subtle accompaniment.

I actually agree with you spriggzoid. Not my type of song, but I thought it was well done and appropriately performed., and definitely not the worst of the night, as there were several others that were.

Well, I don’t know what happened to me but I really, really like Chikezie! He’s turned out to be one of my favorites.

I thought that he sang this really well and it showcased his range which is probably why he chose it. His parents are so cute, too!

I voted for him and I really hope he’s safe. He has one of the best voices of the top 10, IMO.

Heavy, I think you’re being tongue-in-cheek; “so 2003″. Where is it that Chikezie is the next Ruben Studdard? I’m quite certain that Chikezie is not looking to be the next ‘anybody else’!

I listened to the MP3 again just now & am comfortable that Chikezie should NOT be in the bottom 3. However, I do not have a crystal ball, so…

This guys’ voice is naturally beautiful & to borrow from what Spriggzoid offered, ” I thought his performance equalled or surpassed Michael Johns’. Each week, the judges are far too lenient in their Michael Johns’ critiques. They don’t point out that he merely stands there & sings offering little or no variation to the original musical arrangement to make it his “own”. He just sings it as it was previously recorded! That’s karaoke!

Chikezie has improved steadily, offering some excitement & stage presence of which he is ‘under-appraised by the judges. And at this point, if he doesn’t knock ‘em out of the park each week, ala ‘She’a A Woman’ Simon & Randys’ dislike for this guy won’t provoke them to criticize him fairly.

I feel bad for him because he’s not getting a fair shot here. Brooke flubbed an opening line & the judges noted, “Oh, that’s Brooke”! And ENOUGH with the ILLNESSES!! Every week, so & so was sick or what’s his/her is ill! This is the SICKEST season I’ve ever viewed! I’ve never heard Chikezie say he was ill… or Jason… or David Cook!

Excuses & unfair assessments of performances reveals severe bias in this season touted as the BEST AI SEASON EVER!! Yeah, right!

Sad to see Chikezie go. I wasn’t shocked, but I was really starting to like him & he has an awesome voice. Good Luck Chikezie!!!
