I know this comparison has been brought up before, but when he performs on stage, his mannerisms remind me so much of Constantine. And as a self-proclaimed Con-Con girl, I have no problems saying that he is a much better singer. When he got to the chorus, I saw greatness. Definite front-man material– Chris Cornell, Eddie Vedder, Michael Stipe.

And he looks just like a young Bon Jovi!!!! I’m still crossing my fingers for a full version of “Livin’ on a Prayer.”

For me, this was the best performance of the night. That said, it was not a great night, but it was a good one. But David continues to put in really strong, good performances. Good for him!

That was very good. I’m not even really a fan of rock, but he sold me with that. I really like David Cook a lot, and I see him getting pretty dang far in this competition.

ewgs….so what if he isn’t the MOST talented? He does have a lot of talent (both vocally and instrumentally), and he is extremely entertaining. Plus there is some sort of raw sex appeal there….I think he is a total package and he’s got my votes because of it!!

I’ve been a fan of David Cook since the beginning of the season. I LOVE seeing him rock out and seeing other people (especially non-fans) give him props for a job well done. I really hope he goes a long, long way in this competition.

A non-fan here, but I’ll admit that he (like Brooke) has been creeping up on my list. Disagree on this one – thought it was a little over-rated. For me, it was ugly on the verse but the chorus was enough to save the entire performance.

I have to say, that was the most dramatic start to a chorus ever! I mean that in a good way; it was almost like watching a music video. The cinematography of this show is really improving. I also like that the audience is right up against the stage now; it makes the performances “feel” more genuine to watch when the contestants are singing and you see a bunch of audience heads at the bottom of the screen.

I think you have to differentiate between “vocal ability” and “talent.” I’m not sure that the judges have even decided whether this is a singing competition or a talent competition.

If we’re judging David’s voice, maybe not the best, but definitely top 3 material. He holds a tune very well, and he can be dramatic without screaming. What I really like about his voice, is that he still manages to be musical while he’s projecting.

As far as raw talent goes, this guy has the whole package. He is one of the most charismatic performers, and I think he works the stage very well. We know he can play the guitar, that’s secondary. What makes him so naturally “talented” is his ability to pick and interpret songs which show-off his voice and style perfectly. He just has a very musical sensibility about him, and I honestly think it comes naturally. It never seems like he is overthinking his performances…perhaps in opposition with another David?

I was at David Cook’s concert last night. I could have sworn I bought tickets. The vocal wasn’t perfect, but boy is he transformed on the stage. Awesome!!! I can’t think clearly when it comes to this guy.

He’s definitely growing on me. He does have an incredible knack/talent for taking songs that are “forced” upon him (through the theme week choices list) and making them into totally believable, contemporary pieces that he delivers with such authenticity, it sounds “now”, unique and personal. I’m looking forward to seeing him continue!

I was really worried and cringing during the verses. But he shows his brilliance in the chorus. He should have started out more pop-ish and then rock it out.

Clearly, David C. is the smartest, most musically intelligent contestant this year.

He’s Blake Lewis and Daughtry in one. Not a bad thing to be.

Sometimes when he performs — without a guitar — his mannerisms remind me of Constantine whom I loved (please note past tense). He has Con’s camera leers, but David C. is not as charming so it comes off a bit creepy sometimes. I hope he’d quit it and just focus on singing and rocking.

heavyblow ~ it’s kinda weird because I thought Con was very swarmy – not “charming” – although I started to like him after Bo Rhap. I find David much more charming, humble and likeable – but I think it’s just different strokes for different folks!

I see the Constantine mannerisms on stage. The way he smiles into the mic, the dancing with the mic, the foot tap. I dig it– his stylist is getting better every week.

And thankfully, he’s normal the rest of the time.
