Here’s the video of Alexandrea Lushington singing her walk of shame song — and then getting totally upstaged by David Archuleta crying in the sidelines. After the song Alexandrea goes to David Archuleta to comfort him. Awww. So sweet.

That did it.. I am voting for David and Luke from now on.. How classy of Luke to comfort him and how sweet that David turned his face so they couldn’t get his crying on tv.. I love that kid!

btw, i’m not sure this is the way to go. could it be that you’re setting up little david for the shock elimination?

don’t get me wrong. i hope he wins, but early frontrunners like clinton and dreamgirls tend to invite a backlash…

What vonjobi is saying is that when anticipated winners are crowned too early on in the contest they become more vulnerable to to being knocked off their pedestals. This is what has happened in the Hillary Clinton campaign.

LOL now we have campaign talks? Well, I guess Alexandrea and David just knew each other since they were little and he knows her ambitions for singing? I don’t know, but I thought it was really sweet of Luke to be there for David. I heard on TMZ that the other guys – don’t know who – are talking nasty sh** about David just because he seems to be ahead in the competition. I really hope there isn’t a shock elimination with him though, I would cry my eyes out!

Having David Archuleta NOT win in the end will create the ultimate drama for American Idol ratings. Does it really matter? Jennifer Hudson and Daughtry went on to bigger and better things without winning American Idol.

neomarkster – its not that is a big deal David is crying..This is an idol thread focused on David so all news of him will be put here. It shows that he has feelings like any other 17 yr old whose friend is going home from a competition. He said in other interviews that they became close since the idol auditions cause they remembered each other from Star Search days contest they competed in. I love that I can come to Rickeys and find all contestants info here especially my favorite David A.

Everywhere I go– EVERYWHERE I go– people who know I follow the show approach me to talk about Archuleta. He is this year’s buzz boy. The show has never had a young teen male win. I think he’s the one. Carly will last long but will get the Daughtry Dump before the end. I hate to sound cynical. We all know the AI Game by this point so… That’s my story and I am sticking to it. ;>

I’m rooting for him. Make no mistake about it. I do wonder, however, if (when?) someone with executive power — on the show, at 19E, etc– will do something to curb the distinct gasps of breath he takes before moving into a new singing line. It’s one thing to do it live on the show but it can’t be good for a recording voice. I’m not an industry person so maybe there are ways around this. But.. it IS there. That being said, his overall likeability factor, coupled with his talent, makes him THE winner for me.

It’s very easy to diminish breath sounds in audio production. He’ll only ever have an issue with that when performing live.

Well he performs live every Tuesday and the judges love it, and I, personally, can’t tell the so called gasps he takes after every line. I don’t know, maybe I’m just ignorant because I think he’s so amazing!

I loved Alex’s high notes this time! She was very underated. They hit it off from the chance meeting at the airport for Hollywood Week and have been in school at AI together. I read how their dads have become close too. When Alex turned to the left and saw David crying, you can see it the pain in her face as she catches her breath. I don’t think David stole her spotlight, quite the contrary. More people like her now for David’s reactions and their friendship made public did too.

There’s something VERY annoying about Luke’s face… I can’t figure it out. Something about his mouth or chin… or something. He ANNOYS THE CRAP OUT OF ME, and that song he sang last week bit it hard.

Alexandrea sounded awesome. If you think she deserved to go home before Luke did, you’re a crazy tart! And David’s tears made me love him even more… could he be any cuter?

I really wish the cameras wouldn’t focus so much on the crying. It’s very distracting and annoying! When they get out in the real world nobody is going to care if they are sensitive or not, only if they can produce big bucks! I think AI is setting the contestants up for a rude awakening!

How can anyone possibly take any of this or the cryers serious in the real world??? They all know the deal, it’s a contest and somebody has to get voted off so spare me the emotions.

Now the blond that got voted off and broke down crying, that I can take as more realistic!

According to Alex’s interviews, she and David knew each other from SS and they became real close during their time together. She stated that they had breakfast and lunch together; had three hours of class together; and that their dads hung out regularlty. They actually made fun of their dads and called them Laurel and Hardy.
