I like her. She did a good job on a great song. She’s got an attractive personality too.Very likeable.

I think it would’ve been way too easy for her to go the diva route, so I’m really glad she took a chance with “Tobacco Road.”

It may not have been the most challenging song, but it showcased her personality and her attitude, and I liked it.

I don’t like her.
Well.. it’s not really HER… I don’t like her b/c I know people are going to only like her b/c she oversings and they think THAT’s how these contestants are supposed to sound like.. if that makes any sense.

I never really liked her, but tonight I enjoyed this performance. Like someone above said, I was glad she chose “Tobacco Road” and not a song you’d expect to hear.

I am NOT feeling, Syesha, at this time. The yelling potential of some singers who can reach high octaves is distracting & irritating. This girl has a good voice, knows that she has a good voice but is unaware (?) of the need for volume control.

I know that Simon likes her & she CAN sing but I certainly hope that her song choice next week requires soft, subtle lyrics.

Not nearly as good as some of the “diva” contestants we had in the past. Latoya would wipe the floor with her on this, so I don’t have high hopes for her.

Sorry, but she would wipe the floor with LoToya! I wasn’t impressed with LoToya because I found her rather cabaratish and boring! Syesha has a better tone! Also, not all black females over sing songs, they just know how to sing period! I’m not impressed with the pop stars and pop sounds of today! Time will tell just how good Syesha is, but for now the girl can sing!

Oh my God, that sucked. She started out warbling all over the place, and at some points, her voice just faded into nothingness and was drowned by the band. The judges were stupid for praising this. It was mediocre and frantic at best.

Hmmm…she does have great pipes…but for me, her delivery was ALL wrong….and that’s what kept this from being a much better performance.

This is a hollerin’ honky tonk type of song about being born low but yet surviving and succeeding thru it all. It also has a driving rythmic beat which should have been delivered/sung with a more determined and self-purpose resolve …yet she choose to use a breathy “woe-is-me” or “Do you think Im sexy” delivery…which for me was inconsistent with the lyrics and rhythm of the song.

For those who couldn’t stomach the “warbling”…if she had delivered a more staccato delivery in her phrasing…I believe the song would have come across much better (really needed to drop the breathy “sexy” stuff when the song ain’t about being sexy…but a survivor!

Perhaps she should have listened closer to Phil Stacey’s interpretation of the song from last season. For me, that’s how the song should be delivered/interpreted.

I really want to love this girl, and i do think that she can bring it. I have to agree though, i too have HIGH standards for, and usually look forward too, most, the big-voiced divas! She can do better…first night nerves had to be a bitch!

Kinda forgettable until she hit the glory note at the end. It felt tacked on though.
