I didn’t see very much of him during the auditions, but this guy was such a surprise! Does anybody remember Anwar? It’s like all AI contestants with dreadlocks are incredibly nice and talented.

I never would have guessed that song was 60’s, it sounds like the type of thing they’d play on an Old Navy or iBook commercial. I’m in love.

I really like that he shows the quirkier, more folksy side of the Texas music-scene. Not all of us like country.

He’s really uniquely handsome. Does anyone know what nationality he is? He’s got amazing blue eyes. Loved his performance. Was one of my favorites of the night. I hope he makes it to the top 12.

He was my favorite adult of the night — even though he barely qualifies, at age 20.

Mesmerizingly good-looking, in the kind of offbeat, unique way that I find almost staggeringly appealing.

Loved his low-key performance, love his shy attitude, love the hair, the eyes, the everything.

I really liked Jason he is very entertaining and his voice is great. I’m not that big of a fan on the dreadlocks (although the style seems to work for him) but he’s cute and seems very genuine. Jason has got alot of talent. He’s one of my favorites.

Cute guy and I really liked his performance. It was honest and sweet. He didn’t try to oversing it, he just performed it like he probably does no matter where he is.
I loved it when he tryed to slink away but Ryan pulled him back lol. That made me like him even more than I did. Was very cute.

Jason Castro gave an understated performance that appears to have catapulted him to the forefront. He is certainly on my radar now! Simplicity seemed to be the key for him this evening. A nice tune, “Daydream” while playing the guitar, being as natural as he probably usually is. But. Besides a nice vocal delivery, charm, good looks & HOT *dreads*, this cutie has some dazzling eyes!! Cannot wait to see him next week!:D

Wow, this guy surprised me. While he didn’t come out with a bang like Latoya London did when she was unknown in season 3, he definitely proved his worth and makes me believe that he should be in the Top 12. He’s way more attractive than I expected too, and would be even more so if he got rid of the dreads. Don’t see that happening though, as Bo and Taylor didn’t and look how far they both got =P.

I’m diggin’ this guy. I like his low key charm. His response seemed way more real than the totally false humility of David A.

I can just hear the voice in his head going “Duuuude! This is SO trippy, man! WHOA!”

Ugh – please don’t compare anything about him to Clay, you’re ruining it for me! Sorry, Claymates.

This was my favorite performance and from what I’ve seen he is likely safe as it may have been the 3rd most popular performance. Coming from one of the “Mute 4″ – that’s pretty awesome. Unless he tanks, I’d say shoe-in for top 12!

Is it just me , or has American idol decided to change up the sound , and take classic songs and arrange the songs so badly that they bear no semblence to the song at all ? What’s up with all the dreadlock hating? I think they’re amazing. In the screencaps of him with a guitar or on a mic he looks exactly like Bob Marley.

I think it’s hot. When they first showed him, I expected him to be a hard faux-rocker or maybe hip hop. I definitely expected him to be loud and confident.

His voice and personality was such a nice surprise.

Definitely my pick of the night by a mile. Loved his originality and uniqueness. He really stood out among the pack. There were others with great voices, but most of them bored me to tears. I hope he stays on this track and goes far in the competition.

I LOVED this performance. I, too, like Jason’s low-key charm and the fact that he strummed his guitar while he sang really lent something to the song. He reminded me of a 60’s folk singer – what a refreshing change of pace!

I have to agree and say the dreads and the long blonde hair make Jason look very cool. Besides him being adorable sweet and very ealented with a really nice voice. His performance was the most entertaining and the besy overall performance of the night.

I hope and know that Jason will go far in this competition. He is my favorite to win.

I’m going to have to agree with Jodi. I love everything about him. He’s got this sweet, sensitive, laid back aura to him and he just looks so cool, chill, and shy that he’s completely adorable. And those blue eyes…man those blue eyes.

LOVE him, my fav guy, so far. It doesn’t hurt that he’s a huge Ray Lamontagne fan, either! I love that he’s only one who played an instrument. But i’m sure we’ll see more of that as the songs get more current.
