Well of course the gaydar might’ve gone off. With the judges keep commenting that “You know who you are..” I mean.. of course people would start to think.. hmm.. maybe he is gay.
But who cares! He could really sing!
I usually don’t like divas, but I like this kid. He had a great voice and I hope he makes it!

For the love of god Sanjaya, just because someone has a Spanish-sounding last name doesn’t mean that he or she is Filipino. C’mon. Pinoys should have more common sense than this.

This Filipino-speculation of the contestants is so ridiculous. If you like someone, you like him or her, whether he or she is Filipino, black, white, etc.

Yes Danny Noriega is Filipino, did that change your mind? Did it make you feel better?

Rickey! Settle down sweetie! I don’t think they meant to sound offensive in the least bit. When I heard him sing I too was astounded my the sound that came out of him! But in a good way. I also detected a bit of a spanish and even black dialogue in his vocals. I loved the quality, the tone. I hope he goes far.

But I only thought of the comparison as more of Danny being the evil diva twin of Sanjaya. It’s like Sanjy is the one with the nice personality…but this kid is meaner but has a better voice.

Wow, this kid needs to come down from Cloud 9. A healthy attitude is important for an audition; it adds flair and interest to the contestant. But he’s way over dramatic and is SO into himself. Rickey, he definitely has some talent but needs to tone himself down a bit.

And please don’t take offense to this, but I feel like one of the only reasons you seem to like him so much is because he is (probably) gay, a la Sanjaya, but doesn’t have an immense level of talent. How on earth can you say “WE MUST SUPPORT HIM 110%” this early in the game? Though, in my opinion, there have been FEW people so far that are AMAZING, there are definitely 5-10 people who are superior to this kid.

I’m so not digging the diva-tude. And, I’m kinda with Bryan on this one, why must we support him 110%? Surely not based on his talent! And if it is because of his apparent sexual tendency, isn’t it just as dumb to vote for someone because they are gay as it would be to NOT vote for someone because they are? Maybe you do just think he’s that good – different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Okay, for all of you people who are saying that he’s conceited and annoying, what exactly are you basing your opinion on? One episode of American Idol and one YouTube video?

Is that really enough to tell what someone’s like? Someone called him Sanjaya’s evil twin, suggesting that Danny is mean.

I’ve seen more of Danny than just episode and the video. He used to have more videos on YouTube and I’ve commented on a few of them. He thanked me for my comments, most people on YouTube don’t do that.

I don’t know him any better than any of you do but I just can’t see where people would think he’s annoying, conceited or mean.

Cocky? Perhaps. Diva with a ‘tude? Probably. Talented? Hell yes!

But think of all the less talented people with bigger attitudes. I’ll take Danny’s personality over Mickles the Clown’s or Julie Dubela’s any day.

Azteca – to me a “diva-tude” implies cockiness and IS annoying! But, I’ll keep an open-mind – like you said we’ve only seen a couple minutes. I just question why we should make a snap decision to support him in a couple minutes any more than we could make a snap decision to dislike him. Both are way premature to me!

Well Daisy, I’m probably biased because I have seen and heard more from Danny than what’s been posted here so I know what he can do and I have some insight as to what kind of person he is.

I don’t get that he’s conceited, a little cocky maybe, but to me he seems like a good kid.

Oh, trust me! Danny is VERY likeable he had huge following on YouTube. A lot of people were just drawn to him. That’s why I don’t get why people thought he was full of himself. I support Danny, because I feel he deserves it, not beause Rickey tol me to.

I don’t know why, but I don’t like this kid. Something about him dosen’t stike me too well. Also, he is clearly NO Sanjaya. There really should’nt be any comparision. There was never anything GAY about Sanjaya, he was just soft spoken and pretty. This Danny kid is not. If he really is in the top 24 (which I hope he isnt) how much you wanna bet he tries to tackle a big Whitney Houston song the first week out and the judges rip him to shreads. It will be so funny. Im just trying to figure out who would he appeal to. Certainly not the “Ashley Ferl’s” of the world… lol

Okay, you’re right in that the Sanjaya compariasons are ridiculous. The only things they have in common are hair color, eye color, September birthdays, and they’re seen as “ethnic”.

But I have to disagree with you when you say he’s going to crash and burn his first week out during the Top 24. First of all, I HAVE heard him sing Whitney Houston songs and he can handle them WAAAY better than most girls can.

Second of all, I doubt he’s going to try and do Whitney on the show, he knows better than that.

I may not know him personally. I may not know everything there is to know about him. But I definitely know him better than you do!

My only issue was the Sanjaya comparison (which need to stop immediatley), and I think you may be right about the Whitney song choice. I see him trying to tackle “And I’m telling you” (Funny)

But it really dosent even matter, The American Idol will not be a guy this year. And it certainly will not be a young one. If you look at the “Top 24″ lol(predicted) there are like 5/6 out of 12 to split that will have to split the vote. I predict that the winner will be a female around 24 or 25 years old. Maybe that Syeisha girl.

Well st4r, YOU DON’T KNOW HIM EITHER! Yet you seem to know what he’s going to sing during Top 24 when it hasn’t even started yet. No one knows for sure that he even made it that far.

But from what I’ve seen and heard from Danny (which is far more than you have), I doubt he’s going to shoot himself in the foot with a “controversial” song choice. Besides, I’m sure he could do “And I am Tellin’ You…” a lot better than David Archuleta did.

Ugh, thank you Rickey for calling out the “is he filipino?” speculators! I am 100% Filipino, but I don’t go apeshit everytime I see one on TV, or decide who I’m going to support based on whether they are the same ethnicity as I am. It is really annoying and kind of shallow when you think about it. This should be about putting forward talented individuals, not boasting ethnic solidarity.

Cocky, maybe…but remember he’s only 17. He’s probably been told a lot that his voice is great, which builds up his confidence. Watching his audition it doesn’t seem like he’s arrogant. He knew what went wrong last year and he was trying to prove to himself and to the judges that he’s going to be a force to be reckoned with. I like him. That’s all.

Oh, oops But in all honesty though if Danny was a cocky arrogant person, he would have been like “you guys didn’t like me last year and I thought I did great.” At least he recognized his faults, people with an arrogant personality hardly ever does that. At with what other people said, we only saw a small clip of him so how can we really judge him? I’m pulling for Danny and David this year. Go double D!

Yeah, I think he’s friends with Sanjaya. From what I’ve seen on YouTube he does seem like a nice kid. It’s a shame he deleted his YouTube account.

But he was very gracious when people commented on his videos. I never got the impression that he was conceited.
