Her legs look great in the first pic but the rest of her just look so blah. How stiff can she look?? Geeze.. they couldn’t get a better picture than that one??
2nd pic is a little better but not much….. her face looks ok, but together with the uncomfortable position she’s in, you can see the strain in her face…

Hmmm…I never quite got Kat mcPhee…she’s been through 3 management companies & this one seems to be working hard for her. They’re pushing her to be a sex kitten, but her personality just never came across to me.

My last post was @ ragnarok.
Chicago, just about every young, attractive female star in Hollywood is pushed to do sex-kittenish photo shoots. So far, her stuff has been relatively mild, thankfully.
I think her true personality comes out in spontaneous situations. I recently saw a video of one of her concert performances when the music failed. She had a great, goofy sense of humor about it and got the audience laughing. Then she sang a capella, which got the audience cheering.

Chicago, do you even know why she has switched management companies? It hardly has anything to do with her personality if that’s what you’re implying. Her 2nd management company bought her out of her first one because they wanted her. There have been sources saying that her 2nd management company got her the cover of a magazine but one of their other clients (very popular) complained and ended up landing the cover instead. The management company and Kat then thought that it would be best for her if she just switched to a different company…and that is why she is on her 3rd one.

I think she’s trying to find her place in the entertainment industry, or at least her management company may be doing so. I haven’t heard her sing yet, but from this site, seems like the world is trying to capitalize on her looks alone, which aren’t so great…but as a brunette/singer/sex symbol, maybe that’s what they’re trying to push (you know, a brunette Jessica Simpson??). I have to study her talent more…

#11 – I agree with you. I’ve heard her sing and she’s a good singer but not that “emotional”, she can’t tear into a song for my tastes. (see Kelly Clarkson) I can see her being a pin-up type girl…that zine cover & shoot makes her look sexy.

Chicago, to each their own, but IMO, she’s a fantastic performer with great stage presence, good instincts and musical intelligence. And she’s been excellent singing live on the current tour.
Kat herself has said that she didn’t want to make a very personal album, so none of her songs are as angry or emotional as some of Kelly’s songs. She is very natural when performing them, though, as in these AOL Sessions videos.

You can really see her having fun with the ‘bouncy’ songs — those are obviously her favorites on the album.
While she undoubtedly takes a good picture, I think she is too talented and has too much to offer to just be a pin-up girl.

I think that’s what they’re trying to capitalize on … “her looks.” She’s gottem too! But, they did airbrush the hell out of those pix … they’re kind of “dark and twisty.” I like the pixs of her in the blue dress! Those pix make her body parts look more realistic. Compare the legs in all the pix to know what I’m talking about. These legs dont’ look like the same legs in the blue pix, I dont’ care how she’s posing.

I think it’s a mistake to only push the
“sex-symbol” ideal; pictures.

McPhee really has a good voice. I think they should find decent writters and push her vocals who happens to be beautiful and sexy too.

Displaying McPhee like in the pictures will grow old very quickly; especially with other women.
It’s beginning to happen now where McPhee is looking bland and just one of many pretty faces!

LoveMusa, I agree that they should focus more on her considerable talent than on her (considerable) looks, but I don’t know if that’s a realistic expectation of Hollywood.
I think it’s telling that she chose to sing a cover of Alanis Morissette’s “Mary Jane” on tour, rather than another of her songs. (ragnarok posted a clip in post #6 that’s really worth checking out). I hope she gets some amazing material for her second album that she can just hit out of the park!

re: this photo — I think this is the only overtly sexy cover she’s done. There’s the Self magazine one in a bikini and top, but that was more ‘fun/healthy’. She does get photographed in sexy dresses on the Red Carpet, but so does everyone. I wouldn’t call her bland, but I wouldn’t mind seeing her stand out from the crowd more, but that’s easier said than done.

I just hope that people who like her keep requesting her songs and supporting her so that she gets the chance to evolve in her career.
