YAY!!! Oh, thank you so much for this. I tried to explain the happiness that was Jamal to my husband, but only seeing it could convey the wonder. I cried during the swing routine, it was so unexpected and joyous and awesome.

I totally want to know what the song he performed his inital audition to was.

I didn’t even notice that was Marie Osmond until Nigel annoying called her out as Mary. Why did I think it was Vanessa Milano (give or take a few pounds?) lol.

Hahah I LOVE this show. I have been addicted since day one of season one. This was by far the most entertaining audition I’ve seen! Jamal is a joy to watch!

Oh Rickey, thank you so much for posting this performance. I came looking for it the morning after it aired on SYTYCD, in hopes that you would share this joy with everyone. Jamal is happiness, Jamal is love. I was on my feet clapping right along with the judges. He showed true heart. Real, true, HEART!!!!

Unfortunately, I missed most of the show on Thursday (celebrating my son’s birthday), however, I was lucky enough to tune in as Jamal was getting ready to do his swing audition. I have to admit that, without knowing the circumstances that preceded, I thought he was going to end up just another nut with an out of control audition. I was SOOOO shocked and thrilled when he finally did do his swing number. If someone doesn’t snatch this guy up and sign him to some sort of contract they’re crazy. He may not have all the technical finesse of a trained dancer but he’s got something so much bigger. He’s a true entertainer!!! He just sucks the audience in and makes you want to root for him. You couldn’t look away even if you wanted to.

Also, to kit505, the name of the song that Jamal danced to is “Swing, Swing, Swing” and was originally done by Benny Goodman.

I couldn’t view the vid on the swing; but viewed the first vid where he had no clue what type of “swing” the judges expected him to perform.

Didn’t watch the show on Thursday either…

so why am I commenting? I love his “ebonics,” the courage, and his moves. And want wish him well. Since he’s on Rickey’s he must be an awesome contender… I’ll check back.

Hello Rickey, I really liked the audition in New York. Do you by any chance have the vid for a hot couple (russian?) who swept the floor with salsa? The judges thought they were so HOT that they were probably the best couple. Also, do you know what the song that they danced to was? Thanks much.
