The only REAL good performance of the whole night. The only guy who really deserves to be here, honestly.

I disagree, the only REAL performance was by Kara! WTH is she on? She is doing a great job of impersonating Paula if that was her intention….

If you have ever lost a child, especially in child birth, you would understand why it brought tears to Kara. If you ever watched the movie the Kate Bush wrote the song for “She’s Having a Baby”, you would understand why it brought tears to her. And if you could appreciate Mike longing to be there with his wife when she was in delivery having their baby, you would really appreciate Mike singing this song with the passion that he did.

Amazing performance Mike! I am cheering for you and praying for you, your wife and child. May God bless you indeed!

Okay, last night was not a good batch of performances. Like I’ve said previously, the guys just aren’t great this year. I stand by my comment I made, because in my opinion, none of these guys have star quality. None of them really bring anything new to the table. At least Mike gave a good, solid performance last night, that was touching, even if it wasn’t something edgy and new.

I honestly feel that once the Top 12 gets here, the guys will be dropping like flies. The girls are just stronger this year.

We already have Ruben, did we need this? I wasn’t impressed by his falsetto. He worked the stage though. I liked him much more in a prior week. He should be in the Top 12 but this wasn’t his best performance.

Oh my GAWD, Big Mike…that was awesome. Crystal and Siohban…look out…there’s a big guy closing in on ya…fast! Can’t blame Kara for choking up. I almost choked up myself. If he doesn’t win American Idol, he will go far anyway. Some one will pick him up soon. But Big Mike was my fav of the night, followed by Todrick, Casey and Aaron. The others were “just OK for me” but these 4 guys stole the show…especialy Tod and Mike.

SO overrated… Better than This Love, but not as good as Man’s World. The falsetto notes sounded really odd and out of place, his dancing was really cheesy, and his vocals simply weren’t THAT great. Good, and that last run was nice, but I don’t know why the judges were so crazy about it. It was a nice song choice for him though. I just think there were a lot of rough patches.

Agreed. I thought it was good, but certainly not the jaw dropping performance they made it out to be – could they have been basing this off the dress rehearsal perhaps? (MJ said he was amazing in rehearsals) I’ve liked him from the start, but there were definitely some awkward moments in there that made it a bit weird for me.. certainly not a performance that would bring me to tears.

I find it interesting that people are comparing him to Reuben but Reuben had no falsetto nor could he play an instrument. If you listen to his stuff he has a soon like Robert Randolph if any of you know who that is. He was great. The judges overhyped him a little, but he delivered, he attacked and delivered instead of sitting back playing his guitar and singing a ditty, which he clearly could have.

Allow me to preface that I’m not a fan; I’ve always felt him to be kind of awkward to watch and just a B singer. I also feel the judges were exaggerating quite a bit… however, I do have to admit it was pretty stellar for a performance at this stage, and easily the best of the night.

I would be a fan if he can continue to perform at that caliber, but I don’t think he has the voice to win, at all.

This guy is legit! He is versatile and that’s what it takes to win. He can play the guitar but he can also just drop the instrument, take the mic and SING and that’s what I see lacking from guys like Andrew Garcia, Casey James, and even everyone’s favorite Lee Dewyze. I feel like sometimes, the instrument masks a contestant’s singing…they could be very pitchy and not have a very impressive vocal performance but it gets hidden behind their instrument-playing.

It’s good to play an instrument on Idol every now and then to show your overall artistry but to rely on it every week gets tiring. Even Kris Allen mixed it up with some different types of performances. I feel like this season, we have too many Jason Castros and it gets boring.
