I am totally speechless. This was… amazing. I’ve never seen a contestant take a risk like this, and in retrospect, it was really smart of him to wait this long to bring it out. I think we all knew that Blake would be around for a few wees, so he decided to keep his “secret weapon” under wraps until things got serious. On the week of two cuts, this was a brilliant move and a brilliant performance.
I loved every second of it. And even if he doesn’t win Idol or even if he gets kicked off because of it, he’s totally made a name for himself. Simon’s probably right that there are some more… “traditional” types that didn’t dig it, but the fact is, if this was a record right now, it would propel him to the top of the charts and sell like hotcakes. I love Bon Jovi, I LOVE the original single, and I love this one, too.
I haven’t seen it yet but I can’t wait!!! OMG to his hair. I really liked the blonde but I could get used to dark.

That was incredible. Let me preface this next statement by saying that I LOVE Chris Daughtry and I think he is a brilliant singer and artist, but this is what originality is ABOUT! Chris was credited with originality because he found cover versions that of songs that fit in with the theme week (RHCP for Stevie Wonder, Live for 50′s week), but Blake took this song and reworked it HIMSELF. And it was absolutely unbelievable. That was a sound that a lot of record producers today can only hope to make. And he did that in a matter of weeks. Whether or not he wins (I am not sure if I think he should, because this is a singing competition, and he is not the best singer) he will do amazing things in the industry both behind the scenes and as a performer. BRILLIANCE!!
