Howard Stern Confirms ‘American Idol’ Talks

Howard Stern American Idol Judge.jpg

What? American Idol is really considering Howard Stern to replace Simon Cowell? I just died a lot inside. This rumor just got a jolt as The Wrap reports that Howard Stern told his listeners that: “he is considering leaving Sirius – and radio altogether — to become a judge on American Idol.”

“There’s not a better job on the planet than judging that f—ing karaoke contest,” Stern said.

“It might be possible, we’ll see,” he said, adding: “They’d have to pay me a ton of dough because I already make a ton of dough.”

No no no no no. Fox needs to put up a counter-statement ASAP. I think I know what Stern is doing. However, if it is indeed true that the two parties are negotiating. OMG. (When is The X Factor coming on?)

Howard has watched every single season of Idol and has always commented on it. I’d love him on the show. The only thing that would drive me nuts is his tendency to call people “fat” when they are a pound overweight. He is honest though and that could be intriguing. I don’t want him to leave Sirius though – love his radio show.

I HOPE this doesn’t happen. I hate Howard Stern. He’s f*cking rude as hell and not in a good, funny way like Simon. We should all just move over to X-Factor. Epic FAIL for American Idol if they actually hire Howard. They should just remove the judges now and hire Shania Twain, Neil Patrick Harris, David Foster, and Oprah or Michelle Obama (because we need a black person and another female)

Idol NEEDS Howard Stern or it will fail in the standings. The general public are idiots, that is a fact. So when producers are talking huge money to bring in Stern, they know what they are talking about. Once onboard, the public will join in and love to hate Stern like a fat kid on cake.

Stern on Idol? As they say on Glee, “HELL TO THE NO!”

This is clearly another one of Stern’s lame publicity stunts. He will be an Idol judge when Schwarzenegger is elected president.

I thought if Simon left I wouldn’t watch it anymore. I love Simon and usually agree with his judgement of the contestants. But if Stern were to judge, I’d watch just to see what came out of his mouth. I think it would be a good step for AI to take. Heck, probably half the people that listen to his show don’t “like” him but just listen to see what’ll come out of his mouth next!

First, Howard Stern for Idol? FOX, WHAT THE HELL? Do not kill my favorite show, kthxbye. Seriously, there’s no point in having him on the show. He’d just make it awkward, and completely controversial.

Also, X Factor… ugh. I’m not a fan of the terrible voting system (I do consider it worse off than Idol’s) and I don’t like the fact its Pop-centered. Maybe its just me, but when I watch it, I just can’t help but think they’re all the same style of music, and I’m just not impressed. There’s much more diversity in Idol.

But, as long as X Factor doesn’t overshadow my Idol, I’m completely okay with both shows on the same network. I’ll watch both, but I’m partial to my Idol. =]

I actually prefer X-Factor’s voting because it does prevent good contestants who are in the bottom 2 to be saved and to allow the worse contestant to leave. It’s like having a judge’s save every week.

At least on X-Factor, the judges have a purpose, unlike on idol where they just say comments which don’t really matter since the viewers vote.

It’s not pop-centered and I like X-factor more (or am starting to) because groups can compete and anyone over 28 years old can audition.

Another reason why I like X-factor? It’s so darn dramatic and I love it! The classical/”end of the world” music they play during the entrances, the suspenseful moments, etc.

The judges save is not a good idea. I stand by my traditional Idol voting system. I’m apparently just one of the few that do like it.

And, granted, its nice that the judges can “do” more with the contestants, but I really don’t care. X Factor is too involved for my taste. I don’t want confessionals, fan addressing, interviews, etc. No, I just want singing.

And, I stand by my Pop-centered statement. Last season of X Factor was completely pop-centered.

Won’t happen. Stern is starting this rumor himself for publicity. Does anybody talk about Stern anymore? Nope. That’s why he’s starting the rumor.

I can’t think of anyone more vile than Howard Stern. This can not be true. Simon may be rude, but he’s not crude.

Does Stern know anything about the music business? I can’t believe that they would replace Simon with him. I saw this report on one of the entertainment shows, but I will be shocked if it happens.

IF it happens — which is a stretch — the show loses all credibility.

I think Howard is sucking the life out of nothing but a rumor. At least, I hope.

If Stern ever did become a judge, he would also suck the life out of the show. It would only become all about HIM.

My wish is somebody like David Foster.
