wow. if you wanted to see a vocal trainwreck from a frontrunner–this was it. i love lakisha, but jesus take the mic away from her. that actually HURT my ears after she started doing the chorus. i’m gonna throw a few votes her way because she at least tried to go out of her comfort zone.

I really don’t know what to think about this one. I though the verse was unusually pretty – it was nice to hear LaKisha use a gentle touch. The chorus definitely had a screamed quality to it, but I can’t say that it was completely unpleasant, or even surprising, as LaKisha always borders on screaming when she gets that high and loud in her range. So, I’m undecided. For now.

Great Performance, better than Sanjaya and Phil, wow that note was amazing the Jesus take the wheeeeeeeeeeeeellllllllllll!!!!!!!!!!

I agree though never do a previous idol song, under any cirumstances!!!!

There’s a reason why some songs shouldn’t be sung by other artists than the original one. “Jesus, take the wheel” is the reason. Only Carrie can sing the best.

and because of lakisha, sanjaya will be safe for another week. that was bad. i remember last season when mandisa butchered her song on country night with her ending up getting the boot. minus 1 girl again. i thought this was the season for the girls?

Never ever sing a previous idol’s song. Especially when said Idol is all over the radio, awards shows, etc.

I think LaKisha is going home tomorrow. She reminds me in some ways of Mandisa from last year – voluptous black woman with big voice – and Mandisa tanked on country night. And, last week everyone was talking about surprising diva eliminations… I think tomorrow night may just be it.

I wish Sanjaya was the one going home, but unless Idol intervenes, he will not be getting the lowest vote total for a long time thanks to all of the entertainment industry’s finest *cough* rooting for him. It’s not that I’m a hater – I think he’s a cute kid and he’s doing a good job and demonstrating an amazing amount of character – I just think others in the competition have more experienced voices that have been waiting a long time to shine.

Wow…very disappointing for me. I like Lakisha she is a good singer strong voice but this was the WRONG SONG FOR HER!! Bad choice girl…just wasn’t good. Maybe next week.

Wow, she gave me the chills! Not because of the singing which wasn’t a bulleseye. But I just noticed how well she pronounciates. I’ve heard this song many times before but as non-american haven’t really heard the lyrics. Every single word was SO clear and finally understanding the lyrics was just WOW because of the sad story.

I don’t understand her popularity really because she doesn’t have much personality. She should try and connect with the audience more. It’s not 100% about singing. I just get the feeling that she doesn’t want to win because she doesn’t seem to put much effort in her selections and her singing. Hopefully she will get more serious next week.

Although I recognise her talent, I also don’t get the whole Lakisha thing.
I gotta agree BelleAnn, she just hasn’t put any thought into her song selections.
She’s almost constantly picked songs that have been done a bajillion times and just doesn’t really connect with them at all.
I wanna see her make it further, but I really don’t want to see her win.

I like Lakisha, but I know what you mean. She doesn’t have a great personality and is so serious all the time. Above anything else, you need to have a good time and she never does. I even hear does not that close with anybody else on the show. I like the way she sang the first verse of the song, then it all went downhill. Lakisha’s star is fading fast and I wouldn’t be surprised if she went home tommorrow night.

Just made me think of something. Lakisha does not a seem a part of the GROUP. She is out there on her own. There is no human connection– not just to the audience but to the other AI contestants. She seems aloof and distant and that keeps her from getting the AI love.

I actually loved her last night, and I am an Underwood fan.

I guess all you Lakisha bashers didn’t listen to Martina’s comments, that she connected to the song.

The producers are to blame for this. The had the band switch harmony on her for the show. They did that with Taylor last year.

If Lakisha leaves, I am voting for Blake non stop!!!!

To all you people who vote for Sanjaya because he is the underdog. You’re right, he is the untalented, can’t sing a note underdog. Stop & think of the people that can sing & have talent that you have hurt by voting for Sanjaya.
