Just read this tweet from @SadaoTurner, Ryan Seacrest’s assistant:

I think it’s time we do a pre-emtive strike and let Dick Clark Productions and ABC know that we want to see Adam Lambert on New Year’s Rockin’ Eve before they make any announcement. There’s going to some good news in the coming days that will take focus away from the AMA scandal — namely that Adam doubled the sales of Kris Allen and beat Lady GaGa in the charts. We can use that as leverage right? Scandal was good for sales? People still love him?

I think we should wait until we have confirmation. There is no use in rocking the boat unless necessary. Believe me; if Adam WAS cancelled, his fanbase will NOT take it lying down. As GMA found out this week, hell hath no fury like thousands of Adam fans scorned. lol.

I don’t think its that great of news that Adam sold a lot his first week; of course his rabid fans scooped up the album with multiple copies. Esp. at 3.99 or .99 from Amazon.
If he can expand his fan base without resorting to sleazy performances to create controversy; then I’ll think its worthy news.

WLS-AM, was owned by Cap Cities/ABC until a couple years ago, meaning they were ultimately owned by Disney. After they were sold off, one of the on-air personalities started talking about the stuff that happened at the station due to Disney. The basic lesson I learned from his stories was, don’t mess with the mouse(Disney). I think Adam and 19E are learning that lesson the hard way. If Adam gets axed from NYRE, it will come from Disney. Hope this doesn’t turn into something that will haunt his career, because the mouse don’t care how big you get as a star, you’ll never be bigger than the mouse.

IMO Adam asked for this. He had countless opportunities to just say “I’m sorry” and instead he went on and on about how what he did was OK because others had done the same thing. And the “I’m not a babysitter” comments were way out of line when you’re dealing with Disney. LOL They made their money from catering to children.

And a letter writing campaign will only lead to the more fanatical fans writing threatening rude letters and that probably isn’t gonna help Adam much, is it?

Well, I see the BitterAllens have come out to play early. Adam has learned his lesson and is now going to show the world why so many fans love and support him so passionately. I would love to see Adam on ‘Rockin’ Eve’. He would light up the stage with his beautiful voice and personality! But if they did cancel him, I’m sure someone else will scoop him up.

I can’t wait to see him on tour. I bet he puts on a spectacular show (and he can kiss Tommy as much as he wants. lol j/k)

Did I just read in the comments of a recent post that Adam and Disney doesn’t go together? And being associated with Disney is career suicide? If that’s the case, why Adam fans want him to be on the show of ABC that is owned by Disney? Seems that Adam leads a great example (to his fans) in being hypocrite.

Kris is going up in the Bill board charts while Adam’s single dropped out.

Kris video also is listed at Vhs20 on the ninth spot. No sight of Adam.

I expected Adam to sell more the first week since he is so flashy and comes with more thunder but the staying power should go to Kris.

As for AbC I think it is Ok if Adam were not invited on Dick Clarks, New Years EVe show. Why should he be? He upset the whole network.

Adam outsold Kris by almost 3x and thankfully radio stations have started spinning Adam’s songs! For Your Entertainment has remained higher than Kris’s album on Itunes and Amazon and FYE, the single, is higher on Itunes than whatever Kris’s single is… Can’t remember the title or I would list it here. If Adam is on New Years Rockin Eve I will Tivo it if he is not I will skip it.

Check the Billboard charts 100 PHDude. Adam’s single isn’t even there while Kris is resting on 41. Adams FYE dropped out the first week and that will all the advertising.

On itunes Adam’s single is now 35 where Kris single is 39. Kris is on the upward trend while Adams single is going on the downwards trend.

Ruben Studdard sold 225000 albums in the first week and is the most selling American idol winner after the first week. He beat Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood but yet where is he now? Underwood and Clarkson are megastars. Taylor Hicks is in front of Kelly Clarksons debut album sales after the first week. Where is he now?

Knowing all the figures I have to say that Kris is right where he should be. ONly time will tell if he has staying power and I think he does.

For your information – if you don’t participate in the VH1 Top 20. They FORCE FEED you what they want on the chart. Sure, we vote, but they don’t give you much selection on what to vote for. I ALWAYS WRITE IN an additional selection, but it NEVER works. I don’t think too many people (1) know you can write in… and (2) care enough to take that initiative. It’s an awful show with little to no meaning.

BILLBOARD – might be one of the best charts, but that’s still a bit about pay-ola – like they claim (“it once was”). Nope. Still is. Just ask the reporters for the Billboard CLUB PLAY chart. IT’s all about pay-ola (FAVORS).

Getting songs on the radio is also about pay-ola – a lot of times. Lesser starts have less money to push a song, so they end up never hitting radio.

This all said… I do go by the Billboard charts, but to a much higher degree, I go by the itunes and amazon charts, because it’s strictly about popularity and ACTUAL sales figures.

One other thing to note… Kris can likely hit a bigger variety of radio stations (versus Adam) – given their debut singles. Whataya Want From Me would’ve had a bigger range of stations, but then he wouldn’t be telling his story. Releasing Entertainment first was planned – and following it with Whataya Want From Me was also planned. He’s an artist trying to tell a story with his CD / CD releases. IT doesn’t make his CD better… It just shows he cares about telling an overall story.

BTW – Allison’s CD is very cute and is getting the best reviews of the 3 – on an overall basis.

Sandra is right – First week sales ONLY mean something in terms of trying to debut at #1 on the Top 200 chart. They don’t mean much – in the light of Taylor Hicks… when you can’t even ACTUALLY go platinum when Billboard certifies his CD platinum solely based upon first week sales figures. CAN YOU SAY OOPSIE!? THey won’t be making that mistake again, I bet! Total CD sales is based upon having hit after hit. Lady Gaga (with the initial release to her CD) is the BEST example of total vs initial sales. She peaked on the Top 200 chart nearly a half a year after the CD was released – maybe even longer. I don’t know the exact week, but it wasn’t following the JUST DANCE single or any of the lesser songs. When POKER FACE hit #1, the CD peaked.

I could go on and on with intelligent support for Adam Lambert, but with respect to New Year’s Rockin Eve I can be very brief – I would watch if AL was on it, and I won’t if he isn’t…not a threat, as little ‘ole me holds no power obviously, but just the humble truth. And as someone who takes some me-time and reads the blogs, I sorta suspect many feel the same way. If the mouse wants to exercise it’s business savvy, it would book Lambert for NYE! And if ABC wants to concern themselves with sickening displays – have them watch any one of their Bachelor/Bachelorette series episodes… truly sending a bad message and so very off-putting! The tide is turning ABC – Adam Lambert IS the boy next door too, and for that I say Hurray.

the network/disney is between a rock and a hard place. Having Adam on is dangerous however NOT having him on is dangerous too – loss of viewers. I think he learned his lesson and will tone it down but God knows what he will do in his

Adam should have known better. He’s an adult (at least in age). I think he should be shunned from tv at least for a while. He couldn’t even admit right away that he was wrong. Now he’s rethinking it. He really did alienate a lot of his fans (I’m one of them). I don’t like Madonna anymore for the same reason. And btw, I think Lady Ga Ga is talented, but I also think she goes too far. Britney lost me as a fan years ago with her need to be naked on her videos. She knows very well that children idolized her and wanted to be like her. She is a good example for a whore or slut, but not for our children to idolize. Adam needs to man up or he will never get his fans back. He sounded bad on the AMA’s, too. So for those who have never seen him perform before, they probably think he has no talent at all. Very bad performance on AMA’s in my opinion.

Sure are some people on here wanting to be the moral police. Europeans wouldn’t even have raised an eyebrow at Adam’s AMA performance. Adam said as of lately that it was not his intention to offend anyone, he simply got carried away trying to interpret his song and put on a good show. He vows to tone it way down from here on. So what would it hurt you people to give him another chance. Have you acted “perfectly” all your life with no mistakes or no poor judgment? Let he with no sin cast the first stone…. Kris is ahead on itunes with his single LLWD on an upward trend while Adam/ single is on a downward trend…

Kris won American Idol because he represented the popular genre which at the same time Matt Giraud, Danny represented. so he picked up their vote.

It was to be expected that Adam sold more in the beginning but the popular genre will in the end prevail and so does Kris.

Oh and I repeat Ruben outsold Adam.He is the American Idol winner with the most sales after the first week and sold more then Carrie and Kelly Clarkson.

Easy to imagine what a great show that would have been. He would have looked gorjus & sung splendidly particularly after what has transpired over the past week, etc. He would have upped his game with the vocals, like the Letterman appearance.

The main thing is that entertainment productions that are live are going to be hesitant to book Adam. He rehearsed the AMA performance numerous times on observed by the production staff of ABC and AMA and what did Adam do, he changed it once the song started. The kiss did not bother me and I am not homophobic. But, the gyrations while pressing the dancer to his crotch were OTT. Why can’t Adam’s fans admit that. The very angry face and giving the finger to the audience was just too unbelievable. He looked bad and sounded even worse. Where was that great voice he has? I was a big fan of Adam’s on AI and saw him on the AI tour. How a person could sabotage his own career like he did, makes me wonder what he is really all about. I’m just not impressed with him anymore, sorry. Still think he has a fantastic voice. Remember, he said in 2006 he used a lot of drugs that included cocaine. Let’s hope he has not started using again. That crossed my mind after his performance on the AMAs. I hope I am wrong, but his face was red and puffy at the end of the song and why would he give the finger to the audience if he was thinking straight?

@justfacts….I respect your opinion, but feel you have it wrong. Adam’s latest appearances on Letterman, CBS’s Morning Show, and Ellen, show that Adam is all about his music. If the gay topic is brought up, it is by the host, and Adam has no choice but to comment on their question, otherwise, he doesn’t bring up any gay issues. I think Adam is a great role model for the gay community. He is unapologetic for being who he is, and well he should be. Would you want to apologize for who you are? He is an excellent singer. I don’t see JLo and Janet Jackson getting black balled for their bad behavior, so why should Adam be? What is the big deal with asking him to tone down his performance if they are concerned with improper behavior? He is a flamboyant performer, so what?

Without Adam it’s not worth watching..Give the
guy another chance, make him sign a contract that
if broken he pays through the nose. He’s the best
singing voice since Elvis. I’m a great grandma, talent means more than personal life, which he should keep to himself. But please find a way that
we can continue to hear this beautiful voice. What a waste if you continue to punish him .

anita, I agree with you and I am a great grandmother and I love listening to him..he is fantastic…I won’t watch if Adam isn’t on there, cause it will not be worth watching…I know kris won’t make me watch it…he can’t sing like Adam….as far as Allison and Adam rocking they were great at the concert in Kansas City…..I agree that his personal life should be his, but the news won’t leave it alone…still love him and his music…so handsome…..

I will not be watching if Adam isn’t on it. I did not like the AMA performance, sorry, Adam, but I don’t think he should be black listed and I intend to watch every thing that Adam is on. I can decide on my own if I like it or not, but I can hardly forget the most exciting performer to come off of American Idol. His concert performance on the Idol tour was awesome! He deserves another chance.
