Adam Lambert tweeted this morning that he is going in “a new direction.” He said that the AMA performance was a “one time event.”

A new direction so soon? One week later??? LOL C’mon Adam, FIGHT. You’ve already successfully turned your most ardent fans into gay activists by saying that ABC and CBS discriminated against you because you are a gay male, and they along with bloggers like Perez Hilton were able to overturn Good Morning America’s decision to have Chris Brown perform. To those who say they love him no matter what — you ought to consider one thing — he is also losing fans as a result of his painful performance at the AMA’s.

So ask yourselves this question — what is the COST of going this direction ? How many fans will he gain versus the number of fans he will lose ?

My personal advise is this — LEAVE WELL ENOUGH ALONE and don’t push it.

Vlue… I am a fan of Adam’s music and am also a flawed human being myself who has made plenty of mistakes. So… yeah, I’m behind him. I didn’t like the AMA performance but I’m still a fan of Adam’s.

The change in direction is mostly because Adam has realized the huge fall out from the industry after this stunt. He’s probably close to be blackballed for all live performances ever again. As such, he’s now saying it was a one time thing

Congratulations, Haters. Your nasty words have gotten to him. I hope you are proud of yourselves. You too, Rickey. And no, I am not talking about his choice to go in a different direction. I am talking about the tone of his tweets.

Adam is a human being and he makes mistakes. He is learning and growing, and that is important. People (i.e. Rickey) can’t seem to stop nit-picking him no matter what he does. I’m glad he has so many fans who are willing to stand by him no matter what. Too bad Kris’ fans aren’t as loyal.

I am glad that Adam is going to put the focus back on his music and vocals, because once people remember how gifted he is vocally, he is going to blow up the entertainment industry!

It’s not so much he’s losing fans, he’s losing a big corporate sponsor. He’s learning about show biz politics. He has to kiss butt if he wants to get ahead and Disney is one of the butts he has to kick, even though AI is on Fox. In the future he may want to audition for a Disney movie, or sing a Disney song. You don’t mess with Walt and Mickey Mouse. He’s not blackballed. He can do concert tours at the festivals. And if he is blackballed, I believe it’s simply because of a level of arrogance he’s showing.

His managers/handlers have probably taken him aside and read him the riot act. His album sales have to make up for this little stumble, and it was a little stumble.

It’s my understanding that the networks watch the rehearsals or the artists tell them what they’re going to do….and when the lights go down and the singer is on stage, they do as they said they would. In Adam’s case, he got carried away….somebody tell me the suits and the network guys didn’t know he was going to do his stunts?

When Adam was not an Idol Contestant, and he was a club singer, he could do and say whatever he wanted. Checkout the Youtube performances. now that he’s reaching for the “stars” he has to be controlled. He can’t even be seen with a man anymore — mark my words!
He’s a hot commodity and he wants fame desperately, so he’s going to be the rebel, but a nice one, in the future.

Whatever Adam can do, has been done before by artists infinitely better and more savvy.

Other than the fact that he likes to draw attention to himself, he is no different from Kris Allen in terms of what they bring to the table.

His fan base is not comprised primarily of tweens and teens. Now if you meant to say David Archuletta…well by doggies I’ll agree with ya! As Archuletta commits career suicide by going the Disney route, Adam Lambert’s star will continue to rise. I also love that all the folks who have been constantly bashing his AMA performance now don’t want to accept the fact that just MAYBE Adam has realized his mistake and is willing to go in another direction from now on?? @Thorton – i beg to disagree with you. He has great talents and has a lot to offer. I really don’t understand what’s the big deal with AMA. Except of course for the slightly pitchy voice. Not his best voice. And he is no way the same as Kris Allen. They are not the same – both talented by apples and oranges.

As for the fans dropping him. I don’t think there were a lot. Adam stans understands who Adam is. He can’t be put in a box. It is not right to expect him to act and move a certain way. Casualties on Adam fanboards is low.

@Adam – we will continue to be Adam stans 100%. Just be happy. Don’t mind the homophobic haters and the naysayers. Bought you CD and enjoying your music right now.

@marjorie2009 – And I beg to disagree with you. Adam’s been workin’ Hollywood since he was in diapers. Yet none of the big players latched on to him. It wasn’t until American Idol used him as a pawn in their efforts to spice up the show that people noticed him. And that’s largely due to the fact that he was being “built up” by the judges as the best thing since Boy Butter.

@Marie Ruffin – he is not losing Disney coz he never had Disney to start with. I don’t recall seeing him on any Disney event even right after the Idol Tour. Disney and 19E know Adam is not for Disney. In fact, Kris is the only one getting the Disney exposure. So nothing kiss ass with.

I would like to know what Rickey and the other haters want Adam to do? He gave a tasteless performance at the AMAs (agreed). Ok, so now what? If he does nothing, you call him out on it… if he admits he got carried away and assures that he won’t do that again… you call him out on that too! If the answer is “there is nothing he can do” then please just admit it instead of creating drama with every move he makes!

How many times has he changed direction? He’s changed directions all throughout his career… look back over the years with the different venues he has played. Upright Cabaret, Cat Club, Zodiac Show,etc… all very different versions of Adams, but still Adam.

I love all sides of Adam the Performer… I have no doubt we WILL be entertained regardless of the directions he chooses. I trust his instincts totally.

@Thorton – as adam stated in his interviews, he needed idol as a platform to showcase his talent and idol did take notice of his talents. Not all talented people get discovered when they are young. Too many factors come into play. To each his own time. And idol is not stupid to pimp a talentless person.

I was disappointed with Adam’s AMA performance, however, I feel that he is talented enough to focus on his wonderful voice and will be recognized as a top vocal artist. Listening to the diverse sounds and messages his songs send to the listener of his cd will make this young man tops in the music field. I think that Adam realized his AMA performance outcome was not what he had hoped for and was overwhelmed with the public pushing him to “top each previous performance” he had shown to the world. Remember, we all learn from past adventures in our lives so that our future is better due to refocusing, reflecting, and adjusting our thinking and actions. Give the young man a chance to prove himself like he did when he was performing on Idol. After all, he did stumble during the AMA’s and was smart enough to work through the problem! Go Adam Go!!!

As far as Adam’s statements that he’s “going in a new direction”, but he’s “still going to be me”?

Here’s a reasonable compromise — TONE DOWN the TV performances, and saving the controversial stuff for the concert stage.

Adam doesnt need to propel his career on controversy. His talent should be enough to sustain him. And right about now, it’s time to focus on promoting the music. He doesn’t need any more controversies.

Tippidy- I trusted Adam’s judgment, too, until the AMA performance. I disagree with all of you who make light of the repercussions from that performance. I believe he lost a lot of fans, and did a lot of damage to his image, not just fan wise, but industry wise. I love Adam, and I was sick after the AMA’s. It wasn’t the explicit sexuality by itself, it was a combo of that plus poor vocals, sloppy choreography, and just an overall tone of anger and nastiness, topped off by flipping the finger. This was all so far removed from the sexy, sensual, personable, mega-talented Adam we’ve all become familiar with as to be almost unrecognizable. I applaud Adam’s latest tweets. He is intelligent enough to make a needed adjustment to his course when he sees that ship is in danger of floundering. And in the spirit of that analogy, he can board my ship any ol’ time he wants! With you, Adam.

This topic is really becoming old and stale. It’s been hashed and re-hashed. Adam has moved on and is nothing but positive and happy about his life and career. He knows that when one door closes, another will always open for him. Time for all of us to move on as well.
