Lady GaGa: “The whole point of what I do… the performance art aspect of it… I want to create a space for my fans where they can feel free… because I didn’t fit in in high school and I felt like a freak. So I like to create this atmosphere for my fans where they feel like they have a freak in me to hang out with.”

I adore her. She is so interesting always. Her voice is original and her songs are always very catchy. She seems like such a genuine person too. Im very happy for all of her success.

All this get-up and makeup makes me think about acts like Kiss and Alice Cooper who did the same thing — prance around with a lot of smeared makeup on….if she is that good, she doesn’t need a gimmick. Maybe she needs it to get noticed. I also notice that she sits and plays the piano….as if to let people know, “I’m a serious musician.” You can’t have it both ways.

I can’t explain the popularity of Susan Boyle, she’s not my cup of tea, but I can understand people wanting someone who’s down to earth, non-gimmicky, and Lady Gaga’s gimmicks will wear off. That she only sold 200K this week and not 500-600K like Susan, tells you something doesn’t it?
