(Here’s Noelle’s recap of tonight’s episode of Ugly Betty: Level (7) With Me)
Clogs, chestnuts, sweatpants oh my! Things are still unraveling for most of our main characters on Ugly Betty this week. Wilhelmina is sinking into a fashion depression, and Daniel is still freaking the rest of us out with his chestnuts. The cult necklace of course. Betty and Claire team up to try and come up with a plan to snap some sense into Daniel and receive help from unlikely sources.
Since dealing with Nico’s problems and learning about the death of Connor, Wilhelmina is falling apart. She’s walking around New York City in sweatpants and clogs. And not just any clogs. Those hideous Croc sandal things that come in the most bizarre patterns and colors. Willie wants to send Nico away to protect her from her blackmailer but Nico obviously has other plans. She just wants the money.
While dancing around in Wilhelmina’s clogs, Marc overhears Nico and her sleazy boyfriend and their real plans. I didn’t even have time to giggle at Marc before Nico made me angry. Marc immediately runs to tell Wilhelmina who doesn’t believe him because Nico uses tears to weasel her way out. Ugh. But she’s Wilhelmina and she always has a plan. She sets up a trap involving a very expensive family heirloom to catch Nico. She finds out the truth and neither of them want to see each other again. Poor Willie
. She keeps losing the people she cares about most.
Back in crazy land, Daniel is still babbling about the Community of the Phoenix and acting strange. He is now allowing them to influence major decisions made at Mode. As if not being able to drink normal water wasn’t enough. Under the facade of trying to understand what Daniel is going through, Betty gets herself a Mode exclusive behind the scenes look at the Community. And boy is it strange. I feel like Tom Cruise is going to pop out at any minute. And look, everyone has those chestnut necklaces. I wonder how much they cost at the Phoenix gift shop.
Amanda decides to finally ask Matt out on a date and they spend the night playing tennis on the Wii. Looks like fun. Matt hears about Daniel and actually has some history with the same cult. He’s familiar with their creepy ways and alerts Claire and Betty that Bennet is dangerous. They use a form of drugging to get members to act how they want them to and someone has died before from it. Yikes. Daniel get out! Matt gets them inside the cult to try and stop Daniel. While Amanda and Claire are bonding, Betty figures out that Daniel is in Molly’s apartment being heavily drugged.
This scene is so sad! Daniel is teary eyed and thinks Molly is beside him. Betty uses this opportunity to help Daniel say goodbye to Molly and make peace with the fact that she’s gone. Daniel also sneaks in a kiss to Molly (who is actually Betty). Daniel finally realizes what’s been going on and tries but fails to get Natalie out as well. Bennet’s been using her but she doesn’t wanna hear it. Pssht. Good riddance.
The episode ends with Daniel awkwardly asking Betty about the drugged up kiss they shared. Taking a leap here, but if Daniel and Betty end up together I will not be a happy camper. This is my open plea to ABC to not cancel this show and to not explore that particular storyline. I can deal with Claire having a random son no one knows about but i personally feel that Daniel and Betty should be left as they belong; Best Buddies. Or maybe I just want more Matt screen time
.
