Nah, I bought Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3 the day it debuted on Amazon for 3.99 and that album definitely did not tank. Kid Cudi’s Man on the Moon was 3.99 when it was released as well, as was Bon Jovi’s latest. Rihanna’s Rated R is 3.99 right now too.

I don’t think there is any reason to panic.

I went and did the promotion code and ended up paying nothing! I’m not sure how that happened. Never in a million years would I have bought the album at full price…last night’s performance at the AMA’s made me lose all respect for Adam and for the entertainment industry…it’s going to pot. Thank goodness for class acts like Kelly Clarkson and thank goodness Kris Allen won American Idol.

Again, in terms of total album sales, iTunes is pretty much meaningless. Combined, Amazon and iTunes represent less than 20 percent of total album sales. He will have to do well everywhere else. Top 10 on iTunes albums usually means a few thousand downloads in a week.

I think the first sales predictions will be published today. Billboard tweeted yesterday that Susan Boyle will sell over 500,000 copies and that she will “go scorched earth” on Rihanna, Lambert and everyone else in album sales this week

FYI, Americans are nor the only ones buying records. In the Far East where I am, Adam’s FYE is selling like hot cakes. Shops can’t restock fast enough. Maybe it’s because Asians prefer to keep the physical DVD rather then downloading from the web.
