Danny Gokey changes his “first” single! Instead of “It’s Only”, the lead single for his new album is now “My Best Days Are Ahead Of Me”.

This is a better choice. The songs sounds like country music. Good job.

“My Best Days Are Ahead Of Me” will be available for digital download on Dec. 22. The song was written by Marv Green and Kent Blazy.

Yeah this song is better. I don’t know if Danny’s voice is too fit for country, but I guess it was the best way he could go. Though I guess he could have also done Christian music, like Chris Sligh.
I think Kris should do country, he’d do/sound great. It’s harder to be successful with his type of music because it’s just harder to come up with songs that are commercial enough. Though I guess that isn’t relevant, as long as he puts out good music it doesn’t matter how commercial it is or how much it sells.

But yeah anyways, this is a pretty decent song. I’ll have to listen to it a few more times.

Interesting that they decided to change, but I really love both songs. Happy to see either one as Danny’s single and that both will be on the album.

I really love both songs; but Best Days is very radio friendly and I think it will get country music fans dancing.

hopefully his best songs are ahead of him on this album.0-2 in my book, and i can picture its only getting much more play time then this half 6yr old/30 yr old sounding song.

Wow. Danny’s newest single songs like any song done in this century by Bryan Adams. And not just the vocal. The song itself. It’s GREAT.

“My Best Days” is an upbeat, feel good song. I think it will have wider appeal. I can see something like this being very popular in live performances. And the video will be fun. I am willing to bet they will have Danny dancing. Danny said that when it was first performed at Sony, someone said that can easily see this song being played in a movie. Ironically, the DJ who interviewed Danny said the same thing.
It certainly features Danny’s soulful voice. And I don’t think the critics will claim that this is more of a CCM song. And it certainly fits Danny’s personality – he really is an upbeat, fun kind of guy.

I am loving this new song. Can’t get it out of my head. Makes me think this Danny dude is going to make it after all.

This thing sounds like an Adams/Urban/Rascall Flats hybrid. Feels top 10ish to me for sure.

At first I was disappointed that It’s Only was not going to be Danny’s first single because I love that song BUT the more I listen to My Best Days the more I like it and definately can hear it being played on country radio. I listen to a lot of country music but mostly prefer the newer stuff and this song fits in perfectly. Great uptempo song for driving and/or working out.

I don’t normally listen to country music, but I LOVE both of Danny’s songs. I think he’s going to be very successful as a country music artist. I love his voice and can’t wait to hear the rest of his album.
