It was okay for me…The only thing i liked about it was the lasy note when Lakisha came out!! I felt like she didnt have the flare she used to have in the previous weeks!

It was good but it sounded rather lazy at some spots as if she doesn’t put enough heart and soul into the ‘easier’ notes. The girl definitely knows how to soar but I think Lakisha needs to learn subtlety. I’m afraid Jordin will outshine her tonight.

Wow, I liked it a whole lot better than the Shirley Bassey version. Maybe one or two notes could have been hit harder, but for me a nice clean straightforward interpretation. It was refreshing to hear her sing something that isn’t filled with blasting pathos for a change. Having not seen the performance yet I’ll reserve judgment, but from the audio standpoint, it might be my favorite of hers.

Sorry. Lakisha is showing she doesn’t have the diversity that Melinda does and her amateur side is showing. The outfit was bad. The hair was way bad. And the cleavage…. sorry that’s just a little too much there. Yikes!

For me, it’s gonna be a final with Melinda and Blake. They are so different, it will be a challenge to see who comes out on top.

LaKisha is amazing.
But this just wasnt that good.
she definetly dosnt deserve no top 3 praise by the entire country.

i like lakisha. it wasn’t her best performance and i didn’t particularly like her rendition of this song…but then again, i’ve been listening to and watching this version:

over and over again for the last couple of days. it’s among one of my favorite performances by the incomparable dame shirley bassey.

she’s a tough act to follow.

Marc, She doesn’t have the diversity of Melinda? Please! Melinda sings the same type of songs every week …. I am going to LOVE it when she finally has to sing something up tempo … I think it will be a mess. Lakisha was a bit boring tonight too, but imho she has shown a lot more diversity than Melinda and could be much more interesting in the long term. Melinda’s definitely for the over 40 dinner crowd … don’t get the appeal … there are plenty of “perfect” dinner jazz singers out there!

Wow Szjodic, I totally disagree with you on this one. In fact I’d apply your same comments to Melinda and Lakisha in reverse. “I’m a Woman” was more upbeat than anything I can see Lakisha doing, and Melinda killed it.
I’m obviously in the minority but I really loved Lakisha doing Diamonds. I’d consider it my favorite of La Keesh. “I’m Telling You” is so far her most memorable, but this I could listen to on the radio. After hearing the comments from the judges I’m swayed that she could have done it a little bigger. She is certainly capable of taking it up a rung or two. Nevertheless, what she did do was done well, and I found the presentation more confident than she’s been. I enjoyed the performance more than Melinda’s but that is because I like the song and the fit of song to singer better. Honestly, I like Lakisha’s personality too. She cracks me up. Still Melinda seems more versatile to me and her natural vocal quality richer.

Dunno … just totally not into Melinda. She’s an awesome singer, but there are a lot of great singers out there … I guess here genre is just not contemporary enough for me …
I want to see her convince me when she has to sing something like a Bon Jovi song (hey, guys like Chris and Blake had to take on Diana Ross songs, so why not). I don’t thing she will be able to do a contemporary non R&B song well, and that’s why she is not of interest to me.
I guess honestly, her humble act just annoys me as well … I like people with a little spark … Kiki has that on her big time!

This lady has talent. Shirley Bassey is one of my all-time favorite female crooners, and this song is a particular favorite of mine. Shirley Bassey Lakisha is not, but it was quite good… and quite impressive. We don’t want another Shirley Bassey, we want something new… and Kiki might just be the one who will bring it!

I was a bit disappointed with Lakisha’s performance this time. I agree with one of the posters here that she was “lazy” on some notes. It sounded mechanical to me actually — great voice but lacking the kind of passion she usually infuses into her perfomance.

Most of the performances tonight were boring; but vocally I preferred Lakisha over Melinda because I didn’t enjoy the vibrato in Melinda’s voice.

Both LaKisha and Melinda are good, but I’ll take Lakisha over Melinda any day! Wasn’t my favorite choice of a song, but I really liked her performance. She acted out with the diamonds!

no “yo” factor tonight dawg…the ‘daily whig’ is very old. If you need a whig, don’t bother coming on Idol. please. The $1 million in diamonds is another jab at Lakisha’s non-beauty. Is playing up the “beauty” angle on the least attractive contestant supposed to be cute? I don’t get it. The diamonds were “mag wheels on a manure spreader” again. Lakisha’s run is nearing an end…..tick tick tick..

Disagree completely with the judges.
This is like Jennifer Hudson all over again.
Let see how often Melinda and Jordin are overhyped and LaKisha is blasted (unjustly) during the next couple of weeks.
