OMG. I’m so over Season 8. Some fans have just made this experience absolutely horrible, not just for me, but for every reader, writer and artist following/covering American Idol this season. What’s wrong with you guys? This is the worst fan psycho war I have ever had the displeasure of witnessing. Some of you guys really suck. I deal with this almost everyday, and yes, I can’t wait for all of this to be over in a few weeks. But I just have to speak out and tell some of you off.

So yesterday, Sony made available 2 tracks from Adam Lambert’s album available for “immediate download” for those who pre-ordered the deluxe version. And minutes later, the MP3s were already online spreading like wildfire on Twitter. These are not just crude preview tracks — these are the actual tracks.

And just now, I discovered that Kris Allen’s self-titled album — the entire album including cover art — is now online. Unbelievable. I got a Twitter message telling me that the album was “FREE”. No it’s not free, it’s sabotage! Where’s the Justin Bieber or John Mayer rip? Why only Kris Allen? Also, the zip file does not contain the iTunes bonus track “From the Ashes” which is one of the main reasons for getting the iTunes album in the first place.

To the people who are doing this, you should be ashamed. You guys make me sick. For a very long time now.

Bring on Season 9. Come back to me in a few months for promotion when I, along with the rest of the planet, are going crazy for the American Idol Season 9 Top 10. Then I’ll think about it.

Go Kris Allen! Go Adam Lambert! But I think both of you know that some of your fans suck.

I found I couldn’t even get into AI8…too much fighting and name calling and just plain rudeness…and God forbid you have an opinion.

Now they’re ruining careers! I feel bad for Kris and Adam.

I would never want to be so fanatical over an entertainer that I hurt their career or their friends’ careers. I wouldn’t call that being a fan.

They do have some great fans too though. There are just those that ruin it for everyone…they know who they are…

OK Rickey. Where’s John Mayer’s rip? On my computer. I also have Norah Jones’, Leona Lewis’ and Justin Bieber’s new albums.

Yes, it’s sad, but it’s happening. To all artists, not only Kris and Adam. It’s so easy to download music illegally. I’m from Slovenia and I even saw a webrip of Kris Allen’s album on our biggest torrent website a few days ago.

Oh and I downloaded Adam’s new tracks yesterday. I would gladly pay for them, but I live in Europe and I can not buy music from Adam’s website. I also can not buy music from iTunes (our iTunes store sells only applications) or mp3 downloads from Amazon. But I preordered Adam’s album from Amazon UK and I will also get Allison’s album this way and one extra copy of Adam’s album.

So yeah, I will eventually get a legal copy of Adam’s album. I support him and Allison. I will have to get bonus tracks illegally, but what can I do?

The truth is, real fans will buy Adam’s, Allison’s and Kris’s music. The others will get them illegally. It’s the same for all artists.

@Mateja: I just deleted my own comment that I didn’t believe you, since I went into piracy mode and started looking — and I found Justin Bieber, John Mayer and Leona Lewis (which was already removed, and I got tired of looking some more). So you are right.

That being said, this is an iTunes rip of Kris Allen’s album which includes the cover art inside. The others I found didn’t have any, just tracks with low bitrate. This Kris Allen rip is high quality — and it looks like an inside job if it contains the iTunes art. So still… shame.

rickey, i think majority of the people who download mp3 illegaly are the ones that wont buy that mp3 legally anyway.
my point is yes album sales is affected by piracy but still piracy can be beaten by a well produced, well promoted album. there are many musicians that go platinum every year despite piracy. Taylor Swift has been a victim of piracy and yet her album sold over 4 million.
sales of adam and kris albums may be slightly affected by these “free” mp3s but to say this will ruin their career is too much. but still i support you, piracy should be stopped.

@trishcaravana: Okay, I feel better now. I agree with most of the piracy not really affecting sales, etc. etc. Those who pirate will never buy anyway, etc. etc.

I think what made me upset was the idea that ‘fans’ themselves were spreading these files around. We’ve already experienced our ‘first full listen’ last week with the streaming on AOL. I think the next step for a fan is to buy the album and not download it for free. Sigh.

I, for one, have NEVER seen anything like the fans of Adam Lambert. They infiltrate every website and comment about how great Lambert is, no matter what the subject.

I was reading an article online the other day from a woman who previewed Kris’s new CD and she was saying for the most part it was very good and that she sees how Kris was talented enough to win AI. The comments from Lambert’s fans were unlike any I had ever seen. These fans went so far as to rip into this poor woman (who was only giving her opinion, mind you), and I quote directly from the source “Kim, you must be a lonely tone-deaf homophobe who wouldn’t know good music if it bit her in the nose. Adam Lambert should have won American Idol, I know it, you know it, the world knows it. You should get your head out of Kris Allen’s ass long enough to hear what a true musical genious sounds like. Perhaps you should order Adam Lambert’s For Your Entertainment to hear what being a superstar is all about.”

That was just one of the comments, there were many more from Adam’s fans. I could not believe it, this woman said absolutely nothing about Lambert, but his fans took it as a personal cut to Adam because she had the gall to like Kris’s CD? WTF? What in the bloody hell is wrong with these women? Don’t they have any lives outside of Adam Lambert? Very, very strange.

Rickey, this comment is looking for an answer? Color me stupid, but Kris’ album has been online since the AOL previewing party. What are you talking about ‘a leak’? If the itunes is what you are talking about, why can they just not pull it back, just like ‘You Tube’ has copyright laws and removes videos? And why would you even bother to mention this leak, when so many folks probably would not have known about it?
You are correct, that this has been a fan war from the beginning, but know that Kris and Adam are probably smiling all the way to the bank, with bat crazy fans trying to top each other all the way. Leak or no leak, as I am not sure what you mean by this, both of these guys are enjoyable, and IMO, both have already made it. Why else would there be so much fru-fru about who does what? If either were not PERCEIVED as a threat to the other, it would not be happening. They are not a threat to each other, because there is room in the world for more than 1 person to succeed, and that success is not measured by ‘opinions’. Everyone has an ‘opinion.’ There will be more favorites after these 2 guys, and that makes them each, 1 of many. Just because ‘Michael Jackson’ was so great to many, it does not mean others are not good? Personally, I do not have an MP3 or Itunes player and will wait for the actual CD’s. There are a lot of us out here that will do that. These ‘leaks’ cannot take away from the FACT that both of these guys are smart, savvy, and have established themselves as someone who has something to offer and a gift to share for anyone that wants to listen.

One of the biggest problems in the music business is piracy. Every artist is affected by piracy. It’s common knowledge that college kids get their music through piracy & just young folks in general. They don’t have any money so why shell it out if you can get it for free. I am not defending this, it’s just reality. It isn’t just Adam & Kris. How was this music made available to begin with? I don’t get that at all. Then you have the overseas issues where people can’t buy it, so they get it through other means. There is software that is free that you can snag videos & songs off of YouTube & I’m sure other means also. Necessity is the mother of invention. It’s not just the music business but also DVDs. You can also buy a $5.00 movie that isn’t released yet off the streets in NY. Same with CDs.

I generally like to pay for my music unless it’s not available at all. I bought David Cook’s CD last season (for the car) and instead of copying it to my iPod, I also downloaded it off of iTunes & gifted 2 to my grandchildren ages 6-7. However, if I find an mp3 of some of his earlier music (MWK) that I can’t download for a price, I would download them but in general I pay for my music.

Though A.I. fans are probably the worse & all their fan wars, this year is ridiculous. You simply cannot make any nice comments about Kris Allen because Adam Lambert fans will pounce on you. I doubt that next year’s season is going to be any different. Then people will attack them because they also will be perceived as a threat to Adam Lambert. Wait & see. I don’t like Adam, never did actually; however if I even dare to say so I am a homophobe & god knows what else. I’ve been to Vegas & Broadway & there are a lot of fantastic singers there – at those prices, you would expect it. He does not stand out when you compare that venue. Why is it that you can’t say you don’t like Adam’s music or style? I don’t like a lot of artists.

I am sick to death of Adam Lambert, the “he should have won” thing & putting down Kris Allen. All I see is Adam Lambert this, Adam Lambert that. I am over-saturated with Adam Lambert. He isn’t bringing in a new era to the music business. If I want “Elvis” then I would go to the original. If I want “Freddie Mercury”, then again, I would go to the original. Who wants to re-invent those guys or other stars like Michael Jackson. That would be stupid. Adam, less we forget, was also in bottom three & he didn’t win A.I. It had nothing to do with being anti-gay either because there are many successful gay artists. He isn’t for everyone. All of his performances (except one) were the same. He screeched & failed his tongue & people generally felt he was too professional, and that’s not what A.I. is about. There was way too much pimping & favoritism for one thing. The guy even used his own money to supplement his clothes on A.I. He used all the tricks he could during the competition & I saw right through that. I felt like I was watching an actor & not a singer. How many times did he sing last? Plenty. Yes, he’s talented but there are a lot of talented people out there. He is a Vegas type of act where he would do very well. He never headlined anything off Broadway so what’s the big deal about him.

I like Kris Allen & Allison the most. I wasn’t a die-hard fan but I can see them being more radio-friendly. There really is enough room for everyone in the music business & everyone has their own style & likes but those Adam fans are worse than Claymates by far.

So Rickey, you might be looking forward to next season but I’m seeing more of the same stuff.

Maybe it doesn’t hurt Lambert’s and Allen’s their careers any more than it hurts the career of any other artist out there, but illegally downloading is theft. Is it ok to borrow from “petty cash” because you will pay it back later? NO. So it’s not ok to illegally download because you will buy the album later.

And if people are intentionally leaking to sabotage another artist, well, I’m a firm believer in “they’ll get theirs.” Karma’s a bitch.

LOL Stephanie just did what she criticizes others for doing, by writing a long discourse on everything she could think of that she hates about Adam Lambert. That energy could have been much better spent by writing words of praise for an artist that you really like, (i.e. Kris or Allison) and just scroll on by the ones you don’t. this might be a very BIAS opinion, come from a non-(neither kris and adam)fan (coz im an archie =)), im so disgusted with adam lambert’s fan behaviour.

spamming “ITS JUST A COVER” on kris’ music video on youtube. can’t help but get sicked of it. they’re more bitter than the archies last year (i’ve to admit, i’m one of those bitter fans). but adam’s fans are just ridiculously bitter.

I’ve never commented before, I enjoy your site and your commentary. I’ve purchased everything I’ve listened too, as well. I’ll wait to get my cd in the mail for extras.

Some amazing talent came out of season 9, and it’s wonderful to see them live out their dreams. And fans… Don’t worry too much, I’m absolutely positive Kris and Adam are having the time of their lives, and even if their careers ended tomorrow they couldn’t be happier. Hearing what I have, though, I think they’ll be doing very well.

It’s pretty pathetic to dislike a singer because of his/her fans. The fans have NOTHING to do with the singer or the singers talent.

If you enjoy someones music, why does that change just because of fan chatter/wars? Are you all that easily led by others?

Adam is talented. Period. Kris is talented. Period. Different tastes in music is not a crime. You don’t have to like everyone. But judge them on their own merit….NOT their fans.

More evidence that revenue from song/album sales is a dying business model.

I suppose generating a “pack” that’s willing to pay for other stuff like concert tickets, merch, or even ad click-through’s on websites (new billboard live concert initiative) is how artists will make a living.

I totally understand the frustration of music theft, totally, but the problem is too far gone.

Kris was not even my favorite this season, but some of the Glamberts have been the worst fans…no hateful CREATURES out there. I was sad my fav didn’t win, but now I am really glad because they can follow their own path without bitter loser fans of Adam constantly attacking them. I am glad that my favorite didn’t win because the way some of the Glamberts have been attacking Kris is really horrible. I sometimes read some articles about other Idols, like Kris, and there they are acting like complete idiots.

I really kinda liked Adam, but after reading some of the attacks by some Adam fans I am now completely turned off by looking or listening to Adam and that is quite sad.

Now I am glad my favorite contestant didn’t win if they had to deal with those idiot Glambert fans who went on a mindless rampage against another contestant.

Oh Rickey. Always looking for attention. The only way you get hits is when you try to provoke people. Go back and look at all of your posts and you will see the ones with the most comments are controversial. So quit playing so innocent about all of this. Most of the fan wars started with you and your “crew”. The only people criticizing Adam are the ones who were not going to buy his music in the first place. So who really cares if you guys like or hate his fans anyways? Same goes for Kris. I’m sure you complainers weren’t going to buy his either. As far as downloading illegally, well it’s the way it is. I personally have purchased, 2 from Amazon, 2 from their websites, and 2 from Itunes. So Rickey, your disgust for fans only shows you are once again attention seeking. You would be absolutely nothing without AI, so be sure to count your lucky stars everyday. Then again, AI blackballed you from everything, so maybe not.

Guys, you can go to any article about Adam and find the same type of negative comments coming from Kris fans. Face it there are fans from every base that make it bad for all. I support both Adam and Kris. I voted for Adam and hoped he would win, but was happy for Kris. If anyone was going to beat out Adam I was glad it was Kris. I follow them both on twitter and I am proud of both of them and flail along about news about both. And I know for a fact that there are a lot of others like me. It is a handful of fans on either side that make it bad. Even on this site it is the same group of people who always have something nasty to say in any post about Kris/Adam. Sometimes it may seem like more, but I am guessing it is easy to change a user name to make it look like more people are agreeing. Just my thoughts. :/

…and how do you know they are Kris fans? They could be Clay fans, Danny fans or just people who don’t like Adam. I recently went to an Adam article and it looked like some of those posting were Clay fans.

When I views some Kris articles I notice that Adam fans openly say they are Adam fans and even compare the two.

But I am sure after I posted this some of fans will change tactics and claim they are Danny or Allison fans to attack Kris.

Adam’s fans on IDF spread the tracks that were for sale yesterday all over the place for free. One person put even them up on youtube so everyone could get them. She doesn’t care about Adam she cares about her stupid youtube channel and getting hits. These fans just steal from Adam and don’t care at all. The funniest part is that they’ll also eventually complain when he doesn’t sell. Maybe a part of the reason he doesn’t sell is because you pass his music out for free.

Sorry to hear Kris’ fans are doing this too. Some piracy is inevitable but it’s sad when self-proclaimed “fans” do it.

I’m not sure where the person got Kris’ CD, but AOL was streaming it on their AOL LISTENING PARTY! That’s where I got mine. I already pre-ordered all 3 CDs from amazon, but I still did rip the AOL listening party, so I could hear it before I get the CD.

Eh… I’m still annoyed that Kris won. And I can promise you that I won’t either buy or steal Kris’ album. I will buy Adam’s. It still bothers me that Kris won b/c Adam is so much more talented and his album’s tunes are so 2009 which I think is terrific b/c there is no reason for him not to chart. So hopefully exciting things will happen for Adam. I’m excited about Adam hopefully lighting the charts on fire. Kris and AI can disappear for all I care. AI is not AI without Paula and it’s merely a crapfest when the viewers poop on the REAL talent and I’m talking about Glambert.

Piracy is actually a good thing beleive it or not. If 5 million ppl steal something, 5 million other copies are probably being sold. If no one wants to steal it, then nobody really wants to buy it. And hits on a link on youtube def. boost sales in the long run and greatly help the artists IMO. Hence I emphasized in my previous post that not only would I not purchase any Kris music, I wouldn’t steal it either. Not Interested. Adam on the other hand……., I’m all game for. I’m more excited about his career than anything else. I no longer even consider myself a fan of AI, just an Adam fan. Adam is the only reason I’m reading the blogs etc. I will always still like certain of the idols and their music (especially Archie, Kelly Clarkson,Carrie Underwood, Jordin Sparks, and Daughty when he’s not being an a-hole)but I’m done with the show.

I’m surprised an “iTunes” version is floating around complete with album art days before posting. iTunes isn’t the only place which has digital albums.

I appreciate fans wanting the pre-release music to be heard far and wide which is why I pimped the AOL streaming to friends.

I disagree with rickey. Drawing from various studies (not the PR labels push) some portion of these “pirates” will be fans just wanting to get the music a week early. Some will be people who never buy anything and will listen for a week and move on to the next thing. Some will be samplers who will, in fact, buy based on what they heard.

Actually I think I know what Rickey is talking about. I was on twitter to see the results of Kris on Conan last night when I saw a person on twitter, who btw was a Glambert, passing out links to download Kris’s music for free. She stated in her twitter that she didn’t like Kris, of course because she was a bitterbert, yet she was passing out a link to “free downloads” of Kris’s whole cd.

VFTW is full of shit. Adam is exactly the type of contestant u’d think they would embrace since he’s truly outstanding talent wise and goes way outside the box. But the show’s producers liked Adam so VFTW pooped on Adam b/c they can’t be in agreement with the fans and TPTB. You’re the one who a few months ago made up the fact the Kris’s album sucked, then when he blocked you on Twitter and people started calling you out on it, you completely changed your story and now you can’t stop raving about Kris Allen to get him back on your good side.

I’ve completely lost respect for you and your website. Your ethics and attacks on Kris and your readers of your site is horrible (and I’m not even a Kris fan, Adam Lambert 100% (and i’m not pyscho or horrible)).

Yes there are some bad Kris fans but there are many, many sad bitter nasty glamberts from my experience on various boards, comment sections, blogs etc. Even when something is written about Kris that doesn’t have anything to do with music you get the vultures flocking to make negative remarks (Nin if you are not interested in Kris Allen why are you reading this post and commenting on it – oh I see so you can make a negative comment.) and as for Chillout saying that an article saying adam should have won would have had thousands of Kris fans attacking – really – thousands, no I think you mean an article on Kris, would attract thousands of sad bitter glambert commenting, lol!

An article about stealing Kris’s songs turns into a war bashing Adam and tearing him apart???? I don’t get it. I love Adam and consider myself a big fan of his. I also think Kris has a lot to offer his fans. Stop the hate on both sides. It isn’t healthy.

I have heard it all, people complaining about Adam’s fans and being so turned off that they won’t buy Adam’s music. Good, it will be less people I have to deal with when standing in line to buy his music or concert tickets. I don’t about the rest of you, but when I buy music, I buy it because I love the artist and his/her music, and really don’t care about the other fans and their behavior. If some of you are that sensitive, then buying Adam’s music would be a serious mistake. The chances are pretty good either Adam or his fans will do or say something to hurt your feelings or sensitives.

Why is it so bad, if some Glamberts like myself like to say bad things about Kris. Look Kris is a talented kid but we prefer our magnificent Glambert and we’re going to emphasize that preference by badmouthing the little idiot who took Adam’s prize. The fans of the loser will always be the more bitter fans. And I apparently go through this a lot b/c last season I was an Archie not a Cook fan. However, back then I totally saw Cook’s talent for what it was and while I wanted Archie to win, I could def. see why it was a more even contest and Cook probably deserved it more due to greater consistency throughout the season (though Archie still bested Cook during the final 2 show). This is not and NEVER will be the case with Kris vs. Adam. Adam is so far superior talent wise, both vocally and as a performer that it’s almost mindboggling that Kris even had the balls to stand next to him on stage. That last bit is a hyperbole, for emphasis. Like, I said, Kris is talented. But Adam is much much much more so and it’s a shame that the AI viewers couldn’t come to that super obvious conclusion.

Ricky, I have no problem with you taking a stand against piracy. But please don’t act like this is an isolated incident or a direct attack on Kris Allen.

We both know piracy is running rampant in the entertainment industry, particularly in music… and Kris Allen is NOT the first artist to have an album leaked prematurely (CD quality + liner notes included).

I can search Blogspot for a CD rip of any album I choose. This is nothing new.

I agree with you Rickey on the dl problem. Some companies will offer a tangible item as an incentive to buy and that’s what adam official did with the deluxe version with an album, photobook etc. Please come to Adam Official the first home of the word “Glambert”. There is no bashing there of Kris, no excessive craziness and no chaos. It’s been self patrolled and cleaned up. Until ONTD_AI attacked in there on Saturday. Meanwhile, go to ONTD _AI where the hatespeech and attacks on even KATY ALLEN were so out of control they almost destroyed the entire comm. IT’s still a mess. All mostly teenagers.

Don’t ya’ll assume to know who is doing what.

Go read Perez Hilton on the Adam preview of all the hate speech for no reason at all about the boy. Not one rude Glambert reply in the bunch. They all beg people to be nice to him.

I think you all are quite confused and assuming facts not in evidence. I find most of the harshest people are age 14-20. And RIcky you know that since your chat room person was only 16 years old this summer and the most high maintenance of all.

Nin, I agree that Adam should have won and that he was in a class all his own, but bad mouthing Kris and calling him an idiot is kind of mean. The people you should be after are the AT&T people who gave out the free phones in Arkansas that “horrible” night. I am sure Kris knows Adam should have won, too, and that’s a hard act to follow.

Just to make it clear, it’s the European fans who might have uploaded the iTunes rip. His album is already available on UK’s and Germany’s iTunes Store on 13th November, mind you.

On behalf of other Adam fans out there such as myself –
That is the rudest and most ignorant thing a “fan” could say.
And isn’t is sad that people like myself, who enjoyed Adam, are now getting turned off because of immature behavior. I didn’t realize we were still in high school.
