(Gleecap is back! Here’s our Gleetern Noelle with all the details for tonight’s episode on Glee: “Wheels”)
Omg Glee is finally back! Don’t get me wrong, I love the Yankees but I need my Glee fix. Tonight we finally get what has been long overdue: More Kurt and Artie! This week, the Glee kids get together to support Artie by performing in wheelchairs and Kurt and Rachel have a diva-off and duel for a big solo. Kurt belting out a broadway classic? I am so there.

Ever since Quinn got pregnant, it doesn’t look like she’s put a whole lot of thought into how she would be paying her medical bills. She spends the majority of this episode bitching at Finn to get a job and give her money. It’s like she’s just looking for excuses to attack him and force a break up so that she can be with the rightful father of her baby, Puck. It really would be awesome if the baby came out with a mohawk.
Will gets more bad news as the principal alerts him that the handicap accessible bus needed to transport Artie and his wheelchair just isn’t in the budget. Artie will either need to provide his own transportation or Glee will have to hold a bake sale to raise the money. The kids aren’t very supportive of Artie at first and are probably too lazy to bake a couple cupcakes. It’s not that hard to read a box people! Aw
They hurt Artie’s feelings. Rachel didn’t think Artie would take it personally. Artie tells Rachel that she’s irritating but not to take that personally either. Burn! They choose bake sale! Woot! Cupcakes for everyone.
Ahh! An Artie solo! He’s rehearsing and jamming to Dancing With Myself by Billy Idol. It’s got an acoustic feel and I love it. Mastering those wheelchair dance moves is obviously harder than it looks so Will tells Glee they will be doing a musical number in wheelchairs. I love Artie! I think his crush on Tina is adorable. They go on a little date and Artie wants to make it clear to Tina that he “still has the use of his penis.” Good to know. Tina kisses him then ruins the moment by confessing she’s been faking her stutter all along. Bah! What?
Will tells the kids that their big power ballad for sectionals will be Defying Gravity from Wicked. Squee! (By the way, how many songs are they performing for sectionals anyway? I feel like we’re at number 100 by now.) Rachel’s thrilled, Kurt is thrilled, I’m thrilled. It’s the perfect song. They both want it but Will gives it to Rachel because she’s got the powerhouse female voice. Mike O’Malley alert! Kurt’s dad has got guts and goes to the school to protest Kurt not being able to audition for the song. He argues that Kurt being queerer than a 3 dollar bill shouldn’t prevent us from getting the ultimate diva-off. Score! Kurt gets his audition and he and Rachel will compete for the song.
The principal loves the idea of Glee holding auditions for anyone who wants to participate and urges Sue to do the same for her Cheerios. She’s very against it as her and Will sit through a group of terrible auditions. Will reminds her to be nice when a handicapped girl auditions. Surprising us all, Sue barely blinks and informs the girl she’s made the squad. The Glee kids come up with the money for Artie’s bus thanks to selling a ton of weed filled cupcakes. Artie tries to take one for the team and offers to drive with his dad and give the money to the school to provide more handicap accessible ramps. However, surprising us again, Sue writes a check and donates money for 3 new ramps for the school. Will is suspicious but it turns out Sue doesn’t have a black heart after all. She visits her sister in the hospital who is also handicapped. It’s a really touching scene.
Let’s get to the final show down. Kurt vs. Rachel. We’re treated to a blended performance of Rachel and Kurt’s audition of Defying Gravity. Rachel is doing a kick ass job but to be honest Kurt’s is pretty painful to watch and listen to. He started off nice but the end hurt. Apparently he blew it on purpose, no pun intended, and let Rachel take the solo for the good of the team. The group gets together one more time for a group performance of Proud Mary by Tina Turner in their wheelchairs. Cause you know, big wheels keep on turnin?
I loved this episode. It was so nice seeing even little solo parts from almost every member of the cast. I’ve been waiting to hear Artie belt something out ever since I found out he was in NLT. No wonder he’s got the best dance moves even in that wheelchair.
