My Review:

1 “Live Like We’re Dying” (Written by: Steve Kipner, Andrew Frampton, Danny O’Donoghue, Mark Sheehan, Produced by: Produced by Andrew Frampton & Steve Kipner)

This is the best single on the album. Unfortunately, the lyrics are not easy to sing or remember.

2 “Before We Come Undone” (Written by: Kris Allen, Lindy Robbins, Greg Kurstin, Produced by: Greg Kurstin for SK1 Productions)

Better than I thought it would be. Fun melody, even with the odd title.

3 “Can’t Stay Away” (Written by: Kris Allen, Lindy Robbins, Mike Elizondo, Produced by: Mike Elizondo)

A pop song.

4 “The Truth” (Written by: Pat Monahan, Toby Gad, Produced by Toby Gad)

I did not like this song. My mood went downhill after listening to this.

5 “Written All Over My Face” (Written by: Steve Kipner, Andrew Frampton, Danny O’Donoghue, Mark Sheehan, Produced by: Produced by Andrew Frampton & Steve Kipner)

This was not as good as I hoped it would be, but still good.

6 “Bring It Back” (Written by: Kris Allen, Francis White, Produced by: Eg White for Spilt Milk Management)

Kris recorded this with Eg White in just a couple of hours.

7 “Red Guitar” (Written by: Kris Allen, Produced by Mike Flynn & Warren Huart)

This is cute! Sounds like one of the songs in Kris’ “Brand New Shoes” CD

8 “Is It Over” (Written by: Kris Allen, Cale Mills, Mike Elizondo, Produced: by Mike Elizondo)

In parts, sounds like “I Was Played” from “Brand New Shoes”. A song we all like.

9 “Let It Rain” (Written by: Kris Allen, Tobias Karlsson, Produced by: Tobias Karlsson)

I liked this. Let it rain! (This is my favorite song.)

10 “Alright With Me” (Written by: Kris Allen, Joe King, Produced by: Mike Flynn & Joe King)

Sounds like… another song… anyone know? Is this a remake?

11 “Lifetime” (Written by Kris Allen, Jon Foreman, Mike Elizondo, Produced by: Mike Elizondo)

I liked this.

12 “I Need To Know” (Written by: Kris Allen, Lindy Robbins, Toby Gad, Produced by: Toby Gad)

This was a very sad sounding song.

13 “Heartless” (Written by: Malik Yusef El Shabbaz Jones, Scott Mescudi, Kanye West, Ernest Wilson, Jeffrey Bhasker, Benjamin McIldowie, Produced by SALAAMREMI.COM)

This was so disappointing. They shouldn’t have included this.

Overall: The fans will love this. Kris Allen will have the number #1 album on Nov. 17. I believe. Spread the word. Let it reign!

Wow, Rickey went from being all gaga for Kris, to nearly saying it almost sucks. LOL. Just messing wit ya, Rick. People are entitled to their opinion, and I say I’m enjoying the album a lot so far:)
What I don’t want to hear is a bunch of Krissy fans spaming the page and going “Oh Rick, you hate Kris, you have a agenda against him, blah, blah, blah” and all that nonsense. I think what I do fear is the Adam fans getting all in the face of saying the album sucks to them and will fail or whatnot. God, some fans are just annoying. Heres hoping Kris gets good PR. I love Kris and wish him the best.

Ok, having listened to this all the way through once, the songs are still swirling around my brain but I’d have to say my faves are still “Live Like We’re Dying” and “Red Guitar” which reminds me of a U2 song. (I think it’s the guitar elements of the song.) I also like “Let It Rain,” especially the chorus. I was disappointed in “Heartless” as well.

most agree with your review.but I thought ‘Before We Come Undone’better than ‘Live Like We’re Dying’.most are alright.”red guitar” actually is the only song feel original and stand out,love this one.others more or less sound as influenced with other singer.don’t think it will have chance to be #1.but it was good album and better than expectation.

LOVE “Is It Over” and “Let It Rain”, and liked “Lifetime”, but “I need to Know” depressed hell out of me. Did anyone else want to cut themselves? lol I’m sure his next album will be better….he’s a talented guy with a great voice…he just needs more time to hone his craft…they push the first album out way too fast for some.

Like many albums, I think the first half is good, and the second half sucks… with how common that is, one has to wonder if the industry does it on purpose.

#10 really made the album? id hate to hear the songs that didnt make the cut. Yes it sounds like a song Rickey i cant think of it tho lol.

The truth and Bring it Back only ones id really listen to again, i didnt hear 1 song that ill ever hear on Radio.

his prob is that his voice doesnt have any variance, Adam is high pitched but he can switch it up some-Gokey has most levels in his voice out of the group. Kris songs all sounded the same until the piano song.

Besides #10(lol) and heartless(WTFLOL) the album is smooth, but i dont see it reaching anyone beyond the AI bubble.

Listened to it all and I love it. Need to know – almost had me in tears, loved it especially the piano part. Heartless, didn’t like the beginning but the rest was good. Before we come undone is still my fav song and Cant stay away my least fav song. I didnt think the second half of the album sucked, liked them all and the only tracks I may skip over when listening to the album would be CSA and written all over my face.

I love the whole cd. Usually on other Idol cds I only like one or two songs, but on Kris’s I am liking mostly all of them. Kris has a very artistic and musical ear that comes with being a musician.

-the beginning of “It’s Alright” is like “American Baby” by Dave Matthews Band. Can’t place the rest of it. I seem to like that track a lot more than many of you.

-”Is It Over” and “Let it Rain” are currently my favorites.

-Rickey, your review of “Truth” is amateurish. What about it changed your mood?

Overall, it’s a solid album that deserves a place somewhere next to The Fray, some John Mayer, Rob Thomas, Keane, and artists along that train of folksy pop rock.

I love Kris. I love his version of Heartless but was disappointed in the other song choices. I hope it does well though.He is so talented and a great guy.

I actually really love I Need To Know…and unlike most people I think I like the second half better than the first half, it seems more Kris to me. Overall a pretty good first album I hope the next one is fantastic with more of just Kris being Kris.

Since I know Kris reads all this… I’ll try to be nice. (I’m an Adam fan)

But Rickey, I think you’re insane not to like “The Truth”. It’s gut-wrenching emotion best song out of the entire album. Call it emo, but it has this Lifehouse/Switchfoot-esque quality to it that makes it easy enough to memorize the lyrics but complex in its melody and meaning.

“Bring It Back” has potential but needs a bit more tweaking to it.

Everything else I could careless about to be honest… I was hoping more of a John Mayer approach to this cd but congrats for putting out a cd dude. Hopefully your sophomore release, if it occurs, is better than this effort. Luckily iTunes allows one song downloads.
