It’s not bad at all. Very nice. Danny’s voice sounds great. I’m curious if Country fans will fully accept Danny. I mean, look at how they treated Jessica Simpson (something about not being genuinely in love with their type of music).

I like country music, i dont like these kind of country music songs tho. Voice besides falsettos was great, and you could tell it was Danny unlike some others.

Its kinda song that maybe could win an award tho, shoulda had some kids in chorus at end or something.

I hope you’re happy that your site has been infiltrated by Glamberts. How do I know that? FYE is one of the worst idol songs ever but it has over 3,000 votes here. (It’s not even charting on Itunes!!!!!!) Your polls will never be even close to accurate anymore since the majority of Kris fans stay away.

I like it. I always liked Gokey’s timbre. Don’t like the singing technique much. They really need to keep him in chest voice or at least a very few transistions to head voice until he gets better at it. His breaks and power are bad but I guess people won’t really care. I also have a pet peeve about dropping the end of a word for no reason and he did that like Anooop did his entire state farm performance. Someone needs to tell Gokey that country/Americana means you EMPHASIZE your words and consonants not de-emphasize. Like woRd. Emphasis on the R hard then a clear D. But I guess it’ll come. I like alot of country especially the songs with the ott lyrics. This one, the breathy technique in the beginning is offputting to me. I’d prefer to hear him singing those bars quietly in his full voice but that’s a technique he doesn’t have yet, so we get whispering. It’s the right genre and he’s got some stiff competition with other male singers who can really sell the song emotionally and I am not hearing it yet from Danny and as long as they are producing him in this wierd voice I don’t think I’ll hear it. I hope he is success with this so he can keep going. I’m sure he’s committed and will improve with teaching.

Well Dee, you are correct with that but don’t leave out the part about Rickey bashing Glambert’s too. Anyway, I voted love it even though I’m more like 75% because I like the song, his voice, the production and the way it fits his personality (except for a few examples that will go unmentioned) and his message. So NO, one Adam fan voted positively. And the reason more Glamberts vote is they are SERIOUS about promoting their guy which you only have the Kris fans to blame if they are too juvenile to come vote just because they’re “mad?. LOL goofy of them.

Lots of people will be uncomfortable with the message this song portrays, but that is the purpose of the song.

This song is what DJG is about. It doesn’t matter what a few people think of his song. No doubt, he has a huge hit on his hands.

Many people will embrace the message of this song, his heartfelt delivery and his beautiful falsetto.

Honestly? I think his voice sounded good, but the lyrics were terrible. I get the point of the song, but I think the lyrics were way too cheesy and over-saturated the listener until the point was pretty much drilled into their head and “BE SAD” was tattooed on their forehead.

Btw? @Dee: I really don’t think the site has been “infiltrated by Glamberts”. Maybe they just like the song, even if it’s not necessarily your taste… and it helps that just about every time you refresh the page, you can vote again…I’ve voted for “It’s Not Over” at least 6 times already…

I think it fits Danny very well. I actually like it. Even though I am a Kris fan I always appreciated Danny’s voice and style.

I might check out his cd. It sounds very promising.

You know….I came to this link to post an opinion about Danny’s song, but screw it. I’m so sick of these stupid a** fan wars. I don’t care if you’re a non-Lambert lover, some of you are just as bad as the “Glamberts”. Dee has to start it off with a totally off topic comment about the poll this week and continue on by giving her opinion of Adam’s single. I guess Dee missed the fact that this thread was about Danny. Rickey then pretty much gives everybody permission to comment on the poll since he replies to Dee and off we go.

Ok when I first listened to the song I found it a bit bland, but the more I listen to it the more I like it. Danny does not have the greatest lower register but when his voice soars it’s truly amazing so I like the second half of the song better. Having said that, I see the song has good potential in Country charts. And this is a song that should be terrific when performing live. I can already see the audience singing along and a sea of waving hands when Danny is singing “it’s only love” towards the end of the song.

Oh my. It’s what a Country song would sound like if Spinal Tap went hillbilly. It’s got all the hilarious clichés, all the nauseating religious mumbo jumbo, all the cheesy imagery. And it has Gokey’s dreadful voice – and that falsetto?! HAHAHA! As good-bad (as opposed to bad-bad) as Ace Young’s phony falsetto.

I would call it a work of satirical genius if I didn’t realize it was actually, you know, SERIOUS!

Wow! I was pleasantly surprised. Dare I say that Danny’s single – amongst those idols who have released so far – is the most representative who of he is as an artist? The first thing I thought after I heard it was that it’s Danny – the raspy voice, the soaring parts, the phrasing, the lyrics. I think it’s a song tailor-made for him, which is why I think this single actually works. I have never considered myself a hardcore Danny fan or a Country fan, but this is good work right here. Out of all the songs that have been released from this year’s idols, I actually think this is the best. Wow, who would have thought?

This is a good, solid country song for Danny and I understand why they picked it for the debut- the Christmas season.
Don’t worry Luna- you will get powerful, growly, sexy Danny too on the album!
I think the lyrics are well, country, but the pull for me is Danny’s superb vocals. Best single so far.
As far as polls, people cheat all the time (some of us have a life so we don’t do it). The more immature, the more time spent cheating. Its why I don’t bother with polls.

Danny accomplished what he needed to do with the debut single – that is, keep the fans happy but also reach out to new fans in Country Music. And singing a song by highly respected Country Music writers Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood of Lady Antebellum is a huge honor for a new artist. “It’s Only” works because Danny stayed trued to who is as an artist. This is the kind of music he enjoys doing. “My Wish” was a huge crowd pleasure on the tour.
