(Here’s Noelle’s recap of tonight’s episode of FlashForward: The Gift)
This week on Flashforward, Mark, Demetri and Gough investigate the meaning behind the Blue Hands and their connection to the visions. Demetri comes to terms with his fate, Nicole still tries to act like a good person and atone for something she hasn’t done yet (work that jesus t-shirt girlfriend), and Aaron gets another piece to the puzzle that is his daughter’s death. This episode is a real doozy and if you were losing faith in this show then you better find it again because it’s awesome. And I’m not just talking about the fact that Joseph Fiennes is shirtless in one of the opening scenes. Really. I’m not.

Mark, Demetri and Gough are able to trace the blue/ghostly hands to a website for people with no Flashforwards. They advertise accepting the inevitable and meeting to embrace death together. It’s very..cheery. A club embracing death and committing suicide. As Mark says, it’s like a book club with bullets. They find out where the next meeting is taking place and decide to check it out. Normal happenings on a friday night right? They’re greeted by a creepy old guy who implies you need to play Russian Roulette in order to get inside. Gough takes the gun and pulls the trigger without batting an eyelash. Hmm.. They get inside and it’s a masochistic freakshow of people with nothing to lose.
Aaron gets a surprise visit from Mike; a guy who served with his daughter Tracy. Mike is very pretty. He had promised Tracy that if anything ever happened to her he would return her “good luck charm” to her father. It’s the same army knife Aaron is giving back to Tracy in his vision. Naturally this supplies him with more hope and more confusion. Mike rains on his parade and tells Aaron in no uncertain terms that he saw Tracy die. We’re treated to lovely imagery of her blown up body missing some body parts. Maybe they id’d her body parts and that’s what’s in the coffin and she’s still alive somewhere? I dunno i’m grasping at straws here.
Nicole still feels like she needs to atone for her future sins and decides volunteering at Olivia’s hospital with Bryce is the way to go about it. Fine by me if it means we get to see more of Bryce. His cute face doesn’t get enough screentime which unfortunately is a problem with a large cast like this. Bryce has been drawing the same girl from his vision over and over. Nicole helps decipher a japanese symbol from one of the drawings. It means Believe. I have no theories about this one other then the girl is probably in Japan.
Demetri and Zoey’s relationship has been very strained ever since the blackout. She doesn’t know the truth and he’s been coping with it by pushing her away and avoiding wedding plans. That’s one way to piss off your fiance. He’s started to really give in and accept his fate
He has a breakdown admitting to Mark that everything is starting to come true, like the clues from Mark’s board. Mark is urging him to fight and not give up. Amen! Preach it Mark! Demetri finally decides to tell Zoey the truth about not having a Flashforward. She’s adamant that she saw Demetri in her vision and they were getting married. She agrees with Mark and doesn’t want him to give up. Don’t give up Demetri
.
Gough spends a lot of this episode coping with what he saw in his vision. In his vision, he gets a phone call from his lawyer letting him know that a woman was taken off of life support and that her two boys will be going into foster care. He blames himself and feels responsible for her death. Eek. It’s the same woman from earlier, Celia. Gough writes her a letter saying he knows that she didn’t have a flashforward and doesn’t want her to be terrified or give up. He’s trying to give her hope to go on living her life. He gives the letter to Demetri and asks to give it to the right person. Uhoh.
Gasp! Gough is standing on the roof about to jump. Jett Jackson would never give up! If he isn’t alive then his vision can’t come true. He thinks this will prove that the Flashforwards can be changed. It’s the ultimate sacrifice
. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! He jumps and falls to his death. What an ending. I wish they could find a better way to prove the visions can be changed. It’s not over yet though. Aaron walks into his living room and..What the hell?? His daughter is sitting at his dining room table! Ugh! Cliffhanger.
Questions from tonight:
Does Gough’s death really prove the visions don’t have to come true?
Is Tracy really alive? Where has she been?
Who is Bryce’s mystery girl and what importance does she have?
Will we ever see Jett Jackson again?
