Rihanna: I “woke up as Britney Spears” after Chris Brown Attack

Glamour magazine named Rihanna 2009 Woman of the Year in its December issue, and in her interview, Rihanna says: “I went to sleep as Rihanna and woke up as Britney Spears. That was the level of media chaos that happened the next day.”

She adds: “The positive thing that has come out of my situation is that people can learn from that. I want to give as much insight as I can to young women, because I feel like I represent a voice that really isn’t heard.”

Well, it’s good that she’s finally coming forward with the domestic violence issue, even if it’s tied in with the launch of her latest album. I was really appalled when news broke out of the incident with Chris Brown a few months ago, people actually thought “she deserved it.”

Our youth need education!

  men in america will always think the women in these situations “deserve it” because this stuff doesn’t happen to them on such a scale that it does for women. i recognize that it does happen and while i think that rihanna is doing damage control now, she sat around for how many months? she stayed with him for how long after the first incident? i like rihanna and all but she’s never going to be the model for abused ex-girlfriends.
