FlashForward – 137 Sekunden – Recap

FlashForward - 137 Sekunden

Here’s the FlashForward recap of tonight’s epsiode “137 Sekunden” from Noelle:

It’s time for a recap of the newest show that’s making our brains slowly implode. Flashforward kicks off this week with the continuation of Demetri’s phone call about his impending murder. The creepy lady fills us in that not only will he be murdered, but he will be gunned down and shot three times. That’s some cheery imagery for you. Here’s hoping the next scene is slightly happier…Oh. It’s Germany. At a prison and we’re talking to a 90 year old nazi who says he’s about to be released. Cheery imagery not so much.

I want to point out that the amount of british actors on this show is awesome. It’s a shame most are playing americans. Anywho, we’re at the airport now and its like Oceanic exploded. Crashed planes everywhere. Gabrielle Union sighting! She’s playing Demetri’s fiance Zoey and she’s sitting on a pretty empty plane. I wouldn’t be too keen on flying when the entire world is subject to blacking out even if it took me to an island with Michael Emerson…would you?

Demetri hands over his cell phone to Agent Gough (let’s keep calling him Jett Jackson shall we?) and wants to know who the female creeper is with his life in her hands. The group is going over notes on theories why they blacked out. One group says it’s because “a toxic gas was released from deep within the earth due to crustal rifting.” So basically, the earth farted and the world blacked out. Kudos. They land on a note from Germany which has the statement from the creepy nazi from earlier claiming he knows why the blackout lasted as long as it did. He’s the creepy face from Mark’s board and he knows who Mark is.

Whoa. That airport is emptier than an upcoming Michael Sarver concert. Oh yeah, I went there. Zoey and Demetri are reunited. Yay! In not so happy-land, Aaron is on a mission to prove his daughter is alive and goes to visit his..ex wife?..for permission to exume their daughter’s remains. Yuck. Lost tidbit alert. The woman playing her (Kim Dickens) played Sawyer’s girlfriend on Lost. And she’s named Kate. Harrrr. A shot of the outside of a hotel shows a sign that says “Blackout Special.” Really? Zoey is happy as a clam because her vision was of their wedding on a beach. It kinda looks like a Sandals hotel commercial. She says she saw Demetri there. Hmmm.

This old nazi is a sneaky old codger who wants all charges against him to be dropped in return for his flashforward information. Bastard. He’ll tell half now and half later after he’s pardoned. That’s never a good idea. He goes on about how some word in Kaballah is numbered and equals the number of seconds the flashforward lasted. Okay…I feel like i’m missing something there. Mark shares my frustration and threatens to kick old creeper’s ass. The old guy’s flashforward shows him back in America at an airport telling a customs guard that a murder brought him back. It’s all shakey and blurry. Probably because he has glaucoma or he’s about to croak. Whatever murder it is, he’s not telling us now.

Gross. A fat guy dancing in his underwear. Is this the cheery imagery I asked for? He’s the customs officer from the old guy’s vision which proves he’s telling the truth. The amount of commercials this show has is annoying. Damn you ABC. Stop teasing me with this Dairy Queen commercial. Mark pulled some strings and gets Aaron his daughter’s remains. Problem there is that he was wrong. They really are her remains.

Old Nazi got what he wanted. He’s a free man now. The big piece of information he has left is…when he woke up he looked out his window and saw a ton of dead crows. Dead crows. That’s the murder he was referring to. Ugh. I feel cheated. He believes what he says is helpful..and turns out it is. We find out the blackout may have happened before by tracing the last time the crow population dropped. We’re treated to a flashback to 1991 in Somalia where we see hundreds of crows die while theres a.. massive shift in the clouds?! What’s going on in the sky?? Looks like it was a mushroom cloud or a massive tower. Gulp.

Questions from tonight:

Why are all the crows dying?
What was in the clouds?
Was Zoey dreaming her vision?
Did the blackout really happen before? If so why?
Is Aaron’s daughter really dead?

I was thinking the indistinct shape in the clouds might be the bottom of a large UFO.

It looked like a massive cloud formation over the tower. Perhaps it some sort of experiment going on or cosmic occurrence.

    My question is:

How was the boy able to stay awake while the crows died, and the town was unconscious?

Also the crazy lady that called Demetri said he would be shot “5 times in the chest”. I will go out on a limb and say he will be wearing a bulletproof vest on March 15th.

@JayeSD: Looked like it was a smaller area effect only. Maybe a test run?

I don’t think they’ll go UFO on us with Flash Forward. Looked like a mushroom cloud to me. I’m guessing an early test of just that small area. But, seems an awful small area to register such a large drop in the crow population.

I was annoyed by Janis’ “so what” answers to the crow’s significance. Do they let really dumb people into the FBI? Cuz she sure as heck seemed really really dumb during that exchange.

Aaron’s daughter’s remains are “pieces” of what they could find… it’s not a body. I’m betting that when the time comes that what happens in his vision actually happens she’ll be legless, or maybe missing one leg and one arm, which is what’s in the coffin.

So far, I like this show… I’m intrigued. I hope it continues to go well. It looks like there will be 2 types of people, those who do everything right to make their future vision happen and those who will try to change their vision. Both may be possible, or both courses of action may end up leading to the vision that they saw anyway.

A bulletproof vest seems like a logical way to avoid death. I dont know why i didn’t think of it.

Did they say there were just body pieces in the coffin? If they did, I must have completely missed that part.

I’d thought about the bullet-proof vest idea too. How many times have we seen that trick used in the plot of a series?

In the first episode, I’m almost positive (although you have me worried about my memory!) that Aaron said that they only found pieces of her and something had her name tag on it. I’ll have to go back and rewatch it now!
