It’s okay, not what I expected from her. It sounds like the same old pop shlock that we’ve heard a million times. It’s way better than Kris’ first single though, so I have to give her props for that.

Allison was my favorite last season. I made that very clear all season long.

But, with that being said… this single is kinda… not very good. Her voice sounds excellent, way better than how Idol pitched it up for her studio recordings. But the song itself is just kinda lackluster. idk, but I’m sure its just the fact that its the first single, and she’s gotta hit mainstream. If anything, I’m ready for her ballads.

This is brilliant! I love Allison even more for this song, hopefully it’ll be a huge hit. She needs to go for the mainstream stuff at first, obviously, to establish her fanbase, I’m sure there’ll be plenty of rock stuff on her album, they just probably won’t be the first singles!!
I can’t get tired of listening to this! Allison did amazing!

I agree with those who say it’s a little disappointing. This song doesn’t stand out from any of the others that’s out there. I thought her new cd would be more rock than bubblegum pop songs. It’s okay, but not anything to brag on.

Its a great song! We all know Allison has an amazing voice and a huge potential but she needs singles like this to remain in the music industry. Don’t forget she’s just 17 and has a lot of time to grow up as an artist and as a person and give us some classic rock!

Don’t care for it for my taste, but it is a very catchy song for her age group, which happens to be probably the biggest audience for music. I can see it taking off really good. I will most likely be hearing it blasting from my daughters bedroom! It is very fitting to Allison’s personality IMO. Good job Allison!

i don’t like it at all. sorry. so much talent and potential wasted on a generic, overprocessed song.. do we really need another miley? the lyrics are horrible and her voice has been computerized so much that it’s unrecognizable.. it’s very disappointing but not really surprising.. its hard to figure out where allison belongs in the music scene… she’s too young to fit in with pink, kelly clarkson types of girl rockers.. but she’s too mature for her age to be categorized as a disney channel miley cyrus type.. good luck to her anyways

This is what I was expecting from Allison’s first album–They were not going to let her go full rock right now. If she does get a second album..then they will experiment more…But that being said, I really like this song…its really catchy and definitely can be a hit with the teens (which is her target audience.)

She 17 and limited to what mainstream radio will akkow her to sing.
Her target market is tweens to 20-somethings, mainly females.
She needs radio play in advance of her album release.

That all said, this is almost a perfect first single. The guitar intro is a bit harsh and perhaps the radio edit will eliminate that. I expect to have huge spins on CHR/Pop and Disney, perhaps it could gain some traction on the CHR/Rhythm charts with a good dance oriented re-mix. Not the greatest first single, but a good radio single, and that what she needed.

I think it’s age appropriate and it’s what I expected for her first cd. Very Miley Cyrus. I do not dislike the song, it’s just not for me. I will again wait and see what the rest of her songs sound like before I judge. Same for Kris’ cd.

I’m confident we will see music from Allison for years to come and we will hear the rocker in her soon enough. Nice job Allison.

I friggin’ love her new single!! It’s catchy, upbeat, radio-friendly. I can’t stop playing it! I’m hooked!!

Us, die hard Idol/Allison fans, know she has so much more talent to display than what is shown here. It only captures a little of her range. It’s Pop/Rock. Not the bluesy rock or edgier rock we’re used to hearing from Allison. And that’s perfectly fine. Pop/rock is in. Sorry Miley fans, but if Miley can get away with songs that are less than these and less vocal talent than Allison then Allison will do amazingly well with this single. Maybe later down the line, Allison can do more “Cry Baby”-esque and “Barracuda”-esque songs. But pop/rock is the perfect genre for her now. She’s 17..almost 18. We can’t expect a deep hardcore rock album about the trials and tribulations of life. No. That would be a stupid approach. Her A&R is Teresa L Whites, who manages sensations like Beyonce and Britney Spears. Allison’s team at Jive knows what they’re doing. Plus, there’s a ballad or two on her album…something we all can look forward to.

I know this won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but I’m just trying to explain to you guys the approach Jive is taking with Allison. And yeah, people will still not like it and compare her to Miley or whatever, but to me this is really Kelly Clarkson/Avril Lavigne/Pink music. And teens and young adults alike will eat this up.

It sounds like the poppier parts of Pink. I’d imagine that this song sounds much better live.

I hope the album doesn’t sound like this. If it does, I’m not buying it. How can any rational person with an ear for music call this anything like Heart?

However, I’m still confident that at least a couple songs will have the pure knockout energy of Slow Ride, Papa Was A Rolling Stone, or Cry Baby.

It’s got a catchy guitar hook, and is fun. But I don’t like how her voice sounds in this song. They took out all of her grit and rock edge! That’s why I loved her! But I’m sure it’ll sound much better live!

When I first heard Allison, I thought modern day Joplin… no, they over-processed her voice so much so that you can barely recognize that it’s her singing, wtf…. Look at these Disney kids… she’s not going to pick up that market, those tweens want “princesses”. She is 17 going to be 18, the single is a great step forward for her.She yes was billed to be this “rock,bluesy, and soulfull” singer, but remmember thats just not in right now.There is an element of rock sound in there and a bit of pop and thats what is selling right now.I don’t uderstand why most of the people on here are disappointed and krittlical of her what did they expect the old sound of rock to come back and that “heart,pat bennetar, janice joplin and so on” was comming back in when she was done producing her first single.People you don’t know the business, she and this single and her record will do great and yes it is a million times better than kriss first single and no our ears do not need to be cleaned. Hey, just listen to the Heart song “If Looks Could Kill.” That was originally a disco record. So Heart got plenty poppy and sold the most records when they did. Many of their fans consider “Never” and “Alone” to be sellout songs.

I guess all of his fans should use their “superpowers of persuasion” and make sure his cd goes triple platinum. I totally agree Bridgette. I really think that Adam keeps popping up in most threads that start out unrelated to him because he’s so damn popular right now. I don’t care if you’re a fan or not; you can’t deny he’s burning up the internet. He’s an interesting guy…love him or hate him, it’s just a fact.

Back on topic….Allison is going to be fine. This is a pretty darn good first single. Like others have said, it’s very radio friendly and catchy. I’m definately not a teen, but I would have no problem buying it when it hits iTunes. I also have no problem hearing people say they don’t like it. No artist expects to please everyone. I’m just not sure why those that don’t like it get attacked and labeled as a rabid Adam fan. I guess the whole Idol process kind of breeds this type of behavior when you’re battling for your favorite. It’s kind of hard to put the brakes on after it’s all over.

Oh well…it’ll all end eventually when all three of their albums finally drop and each will be other their own path. Right? The madness will end….right?

It’s cute. It’s very easy-pop radio fluff like Pink’s “So What”. Yet, for some reason I really enjoy repeating this song, maybe it’s the “Woah Woah Woah Woah”.
I disagree, I think Kris’s single was better than Alison’s. So many people focused on the fact it wasn’t written by him. Yet, when other Idols release their debuts (ahem, Archuleta), THEY don’t write the material either… I’m not saying everyone, but many do not have anything to do with song-writing. So, exclude that fact, and I would like to know what exactly was NOT good about his single? Vocals were pretty good, lyrics I thought were well-written (for the most part), and it passed. The only problem is I have heard NO radio air-play for that song whatsoever, and it’s barely made it into the Top 20 of ITunes. Alison’s single, I think, is slightly less clever, possibly catchier, and probably will appeal to more people thank Kris’s did. I’m just waiting Adam Lambert’s single now. Overall, however, I’m impressed with this year’s first singles coming from the American Idols, As opposed to last years. I thought David Archuleta’s “Crush” was horrible, and David Cook’s “Light On” was just OK. I thought his “Come Back To Me” was Much better.

So, I think we lots to look forward to with these albums!
