Amazon.com has created an Official Tracker for the 2009 American Idol Contestants.

Adam Lambert is enjoying a wide lead over Kris Allen, and Kris a modest lead over Allison Iraheta.

One additional reason that Adam will sell more is because many of us have already purchased the Kris Allen iTunes Pass. I have, so I will probably not buy a copy of Kris’s album from amazon. I’ve pre-ordered one of Adam’s on amazon.com, but could buy it elsewhere too, especially if there are bonus songs on different versions, like there were on David Cook’s last year.

Don’t most people buy from iTunes?

On HLN, I did see a segment talking about Adam and speculating that he may be the next superstar because he was outselling Madonna and some other big name.

I like the Season 8 contestants, but am totally unbiased because I didn’t pick a favorite this year. I hope they are all awesome!

The fanwars this year freak me out a little bit! And I thought they were bad last year! Geez! Nothing compared to this year! I don’t get it!! People need to calm the heck down.

I bought the iTunes Season Pass for Kris, which includes his first album. That is one reason why Kris’ pre-orders are going to be lower at Amazon than Adam’s. Plus, the Amazon rankings are weighted to new orders, and Kris’ album has been on pre-order there for a month.

Exactly how much of these pre-orders will turn into shipped orders? Amazon doesn’t charge until the order is shipped, just a check to see if the credit card is valid. Very easy to change that ten unit order to one the Tuesday before the release date. I find these pre-sales fights to be more fanbase wars than anything else. Radio plays is what is needed now, as none of the three are going to expand their fanbase without radio plays. Just look at past Idols, those who got the spins, have the most fans now.

I think the “Glee” soundtrack may outsell both Jason Castro + Leona Lewis. Unless Leona’s second single is HOTT. She’ll certainly get as much promotion as Adam, Kris, and Susan Boyle.
Isn’t Lil Waynes album coming out in Nov too, he may hold #1 for a couple weeks??
Some may have successful singles (radio, downloads) but not necessarily translate into charting album sales…

Honestly, Adam will probably outsell Kris by a mile. But, the record sales mean nothing to me. I’m still going to be buying both. Although, just saying, I’m looking forward to Allison’s album WAYYY more than I am theirs.

Can you say Ouch! Poor Kris. But yeah for Adam! I have not had a chance to order my preorders yet but I am going to tonight. Christmas shopping made easy this year everybody gets an Adam CD. I will download mine from Itunes so I can have Adam portable!

Actually, the top seller will be Carrie Underwood, who’s 3rd album is slated for release in Nov. BTW, it was just announced this week that Carrie’ A-List producer Mark Bright will be also be producing Danny Gokey’s first album. Congrats to Danny on such a score for a new artist. So in the end, Danny got everything he wanted and more. He is signed with major labels 19E and Sony Nashville. And he got veteran hit maker Mark Bright as his producer. Go-Go-Gokey!!!

carrie underwood is already tested

susan boyle is a worldwide phenomenon

the cast of GLEE is the darkhorse because they are like high school musical back then.

Everything is speculation but one can certainly make educated predictions based on buzz and promotion. In November I will be buying Adam, Carrie, John Mayer, and Lady Gaga and Kings of Leon live album. Glee and Kris Allen will probably be on my list for Santa.

WOW, No one is getting nasty, thank God. All three of them are going to do great. When Adam gets on Itunes he will sell more, when Kris and Allison start promoting their CDs they will do better.
Everything takes time and patience. They all target different groups of buyers so no real competition here.

Susan Boyle is a world wide phenom? Really? That is a bit premature.

Truthfully, she was a youtube phenom and that I believe, had more to do with the judges reactions to her appearance vs. her being able to sing–especially, the look on Simon’s face. The judge that everyone loves to prove wrong.

She seems like a very nice lady–but I am not a fan of her voice or style of singing.

I agree with PhDude….Why is Kris’ single sliding on iTunes? Where is all of his fans that voted for him? It’s starting to look like it was more about voting against Adam than actually being about loving Kris’ music.

Whatever, time will tell. Adam sure has a lot going on right now to keep people interested….Kris, not so much as it seems. His laid back attitude that everybody has fallen in love with might end up being his worse enemy.

I ordered 2 of Adam’s CD’s. I was going to order more and give them as Christmas presents but the people I was going to give them to have also ordered them. No body wants to wait until Christmas to hear our new SUPER STAR. Adam will do great!!!!! I also am hoping Kris and Allison much success. How can you not be pulling for them, too.

So many CD’s to choose from! I think that I will buy Adam’s, Carrie’s, David A’s (Christmas), Susan Boyle’s and maybe Kris’.

At this point–for sure–I will buy Adam’s for my husband and David’s for me.

Adam Lambert has the most beautiful voice I’ve ever heard. Add that to the fact that he is gorgeous and has the most incredible aura about him…put it all together and it equals MEGA star. I’ve never experienced anything like him in all my 51 years!

I think that Adam will outsell Kris but to be fair Adam’s style of music appeals to more people. If you look at the top of the music charts its full of pop/rock dance tracks.ie. lady gaga. Also to all those people who say that rabid Adam fans are probably pre-ordering huge amounts on Amazon-there is a limit of 3, so stop trying to find a reason to tear Adam’s success down.

In November i’ll be buying adam’s, kris’s, carrie’s, leona’s and glee’s album cause i love them all no matter where they place in the charts!
