she’s good, but i kinda am looking for the “hudson” force. Jen has better vocal control and has more power and soul in her voice. It was rather a good performance. She shud have not tried to sing this bec. whether she likes it or not she will be compared to Jen. Now I come to realize how Great hudson is.

I’m so watered down from hearing Holliday and Hudson’s versons that nobody singing this song really strikes me as great anymore. It was good, but I didn’t get chills like I used to when I heard that song.

Mandisa+Fantasia 2.0. Powerful vocal but not my cup of tea. Her stage act is a bit too spastic and reminds me of Fantasia on her worst day.

I thought she did great with this performance, but her off-stage personality is kinda boring to me. Plus this is J Hud’s song at the moment, I think she should have chosen a different song. But great voice, nonetheless.

Are you all crazy, this girl is amazing Jennifer Hudson can’t control her voice as well as this, belive me I love Jennifer hudson because she does have a big strong voice, but one thing I always said about her since American Idol was that she lacked vocal control. I hate to even have to compare the two of these, but you also have to realize that you can only change the song up from Jennifer Holidays version even when Tamyra Gray sang the song. But yea Im happy for LaKeisha she brought the house down. I hope for a lot of different girls to win.

Great performance, was hoping for a really knock it out of the ballpark last note of “Meee-ee” as Jennifer Hudson and J. Holliday gave this amazing song. You had to love Lakisha for giving this one all her heart.

Overall, I still loved MELINDA the best. SHE LOOKS AND SOUNDS LIKE A STAR. Looking at her now and hoping she always remains this pure and sweet. She reminds me of an up and coming Tina Turner.

Just listened again. I take it back. Her last note was great. Different than Hudson’s trumpeting “mee” but good all the same.

I do love how she turned to the boys and sang to them and acted out the emotions of the moment.

Also cool was the way she marched to the final bomp-bomp bomp bah” notes and then swayed her hips. That girl was not afraid to let it out.

Lakeisha made a very risky move. With Jennifer Hudson going for an Oscar for singing that very song. How could she think that she could even try to compete with the likeness of Jennifer Hudson or the Queen Holiday!

But she did it!

She made it hers and gave a performance to boot. I will never grow tired of hearing that song (sung well that is!) and Lakeisha did a great job! This is a singing competition and she definately brought the right song at the right time to the right competition.

Now let’s see if she can continue to bring it!

I think the girls have it this year, with Melinda, Lakeisha, the girl with the red hair streaks and the curly headed girl (can’t remember their names sorry). I think we have our self a competition folks!

She blew the rest of them out of the water! It was the best performance of BOTH nights – by far!

She does have a much different stage performance while singing than when she is talking. She’s got much more bravado when carrying a tune.

Just LOVED it! she made me cry! This woman is Brilliant and humble and just amazing! i just love her story also! She’s got a GREAT chance at winning it all! i also liked Melinda alot too (the two little quiet humble ones, are both lil firecrackers, as paula would say) STANDING OVATION

This was the best of all performances. That doesn’t mean that none of the others were not good.

And what’s up with the JHud comparision?

But since some of you are comparing, I would like
to say that I liked LaKisha’s deliverance of the
song much better than JHud.

LaKisha sings with so much more “passion” than
JHud.

Ha Ha. Thank God Some of you will never be A&R representatives.
This girl is not just good, great, she is legendary. Jennifer Hudson is an good singer. But she lacks the story, the drive and that is why she didn’t win American Idol in season four. She got a movie deal and now a record contract with Clive Davis. Where was he in Season four?
The thing is, I would be extremely baffled if Lakisha doesn’t go on to be a multi platinum selling artist. forget idol sign this girl now! Kelly Clarkson has nothing on this girl.
This competition has become Avril Lavigne Versus Aretha Franklin…
I wonder who will win…

I don’t like the song much, but I disagree with those who think Hudson is better at it. I liked Lakisha’s version better. It was a great vocal performance, and I like her style onstage. (Also adored that dress she wore last night.)
I thought last night was a three way tie between Stephanie Edwards, Melinda Doolittle and Lakisha.
I don’t get the love for Jordin Sparks. I don’t think she has a nice voice. It is powerful, but always seems real flat to me. I also liked Sabrina.
I have to say, all of the African American ladies blew away all of the others. Don’t know why there is such an obvious gab in talent this year. It seems like a good many of the top 12 ladies were chosen primarily for good looks rather than talent.

what would be her selling point….
or where would she fit in?

I love Lakisha and she gave the performance of the night, but her biggest competition is going to be Melinda. Melinda is just on a different level from everyone else in the competition. I want to see Lakisha go far, but I think she’ll get voted out in some shocker like all of the AI divas like Jennifer Hudon, or Mandisa.

Another thing I was just thinking… And as previously noted on comments here: Who’s going to buy this kind of music now? The industry isn’t about who sings the biggest, it’s about who looks best and who can sing the most catchy songs. You can’t honestly say that “Sexy Back” displays great vocal skill, yet it SELLS fast as hell. The winner of American Idol isn’t necessarily the best singer, but the one who can rake in the most success. That’s how I see it anyway.
