Wow so far the BEST vocals of the night! Talk about hitting that one right out of the park What I love about Melinda Doolittle is that she’s so talented but is so humble as well. I’ll be surprised if she doesn’t make it to at least the top 5. Way to go!

Chino: Melinda is a 9. I voted for her quite a bit tonight. Lakisha and Melinda are my favorite performances tonight overall. There’s something really compelling about both of them — not just in terms of their vocals — but the stories that brought them there.

I have to admit, though, that Melinda has a slight edge in my mind — I can see her fear and it makes you root for her. I’ll be tuning in each week both of these ladies are on. After that… god help us if one of the boring folks wins.

ABSOLUTELY adored everything about her performance and HER. She is a star in the making. Voice, personality, humility, magic when she hits the stage. Wrote this in another comment box, but she reminds me of a young, starting out Tina Turner. Keep on rolling, Melinda. Love you.

Hey Ross…thanks for the other ingredient. Melinda reminds me of a concoction of several stars/singers…one of them like you stated, Tina Turner…but I also see a little bit of Stephenie Mills, too. She also reminds me of a Gospel singer, Leanne Faine that was one of the lead singers for the Thomson Community Singers out of Chicago IL.

All of them are women short in stature but with these powerful voices with precision like delivery.

She’s my favorite vocalist in this, and she does have the kind of personality that everyone should want to get behind–so humble and shy and nice.
But she needs to take a yoga or pilates class to loosen up and lengthen that upper body. She looks like she’s always shrugging her shoulders. Confidence honey, Confidence!

Thought she was AWSOME and told those watching AI with me “She’s the One” the minute I heard her. After re-watching her performance, I have no reason to change my opinion. I believe she has a good chance of becoming this season’s American Idol but regardless, I am so glad she will get the exposure needed to move on to a solo career.

No more backup singing for this Lady ! ! !

I love Melinda, without a doubt in my mind she is the next American Idol. You don’t hear voices like hers anymore in today’s music. Sure people can sing, but there’s nothing special behind it. Everything about her, from the way she looks and sounds is so different than anything out right now. Simon loves her too, and he knows a true talent when he sees it and Melinda is a true talent.
