Derrion Albert, a 16-year-old honor student was beaten to death last week in Chicago. The brutal attack was captured on a camera phone. CNN aired the video and the story has garnered national attention.

Derrion Albert is now trending on Twitter and Google Trends. YouTube has been deleting videos of the incident, but people have been re-uploading it.

That’s truly heartbreaking. I’m glad they’re airing it though. As violent as it is, people have to realize that crap like this goes on. Just hearing about things like this isn’t enough sometimes.
I really hope the assholes who killed that poor boy are put in to prison for the rest of their pathetic lives.

What amazes me is that there are cameras everywhere….why do criminals think they can get away with it?
As for the crime, the Black population is suffering big time….jobs are gone, bad education….and the housing crisis in Chicago all add up to hostility and anger among young people. They have no dreams, no hope. And it’s cyclical…the young girls getting pregnant, no money, no education and bringing young boys into the world — it’s a big handicap.

No dreams…No hopes?…..How about not having parents raise them to be decent human beings because they are too ignorant and lazy to take responsibility for them.

Not shocking…not surprised. Feel bad for the kid but this happens all the time.

Parents need to start parenting their kids and stop expecting teachers and communities to do it all for them.

Its a major problem here in the states filled with excuses and more excuses….if they don’t have the time to raise their children then they shouldn’t be having any.

Only solution is for our gov’t to start holding the parents responsible for their kids crimes as well. It would snap them out of their ignorance.

People living in poverty in developing countries without any resources “at all” don’t commit a 10th of the crimes the kids in the US are responsible for.

WHY? Their PARENTS are visible in their lives.

I’m African American and this is shameful for to the race. It seems all crime is due to young black men and women who feel the need to be so stupid and foolish in their actions.

i didn’t watch the video. i don’t think it’s right for cnn to air it nor should you spread this video even more. i shudder to think that a media outlet would pay for a video like this. although i also have a problem with people filming events like this and not doing anything to help and then uploading them later (reality TV is becoming more dangerous!), i guess some good has come out of it since it helped somewhat in the arrest of some of the thugs.
